More concerned with intimidation than women's health?
Almost five minutes of audio, posted in full below, obtained by Naral Pro-Choice Texas and Progress Texas, shows the tactics Texas anti-abortion activists are using in order to exploit recent court decisions -- like McCullen v. Coakley, which outlawed buffer zones around health clinics that provide abortions -- and prevent abortions.

The audio was recorded during an August 4, 2014 training session hosted at the State Capitol by anti-abortion groups. It outlines the techniques used by the groups to track abortion providers and women seeking abortions, keep women who arrive at clinics from actually going inside.

"You track license plates," Karen Garnett of the Catholic Pro-Life Committee of North Texas says on the tape, "the license plates that are coming into any abortion facility. We have a very sophisticated spreadsheet."

This allows the groups to track whether or not a woman returns after being turned away by sidewalk protesters -- or, as they insist on calling themselves, counselors -- and to "identify if you've got a new abortionist," Garnett says. Later in the tape, Abby Johnson of Live Action describes how she dug through tax appraisal records to figure out the potential locations of a new Ambulatory Surgical Center -- something all abortion providing facilities will be required to be as of September 1 -- in Austin.

Heather Busby, the executive director of NARAL Pro-Choice Texas, responded to the video in a press release:

"The same groups that lobbied Texas lawmakers to pass HB2, a law that has nothing to do with the health and safety of women, are those outside abortion clinics, harassing and intimidating patients, blocking them from accessing the care they need, and threatening abortion providers. With fewer clinics for these stalking protestors to target, the dangerous impact of their intimidation tactics will be exacerbated. Texas women are now not only forced to travel hundreds of miles to even access a safe and legal Texas clinic, but once they reach a clinic they must also confront the very real threat posed by these anti-abortion activists. The anti-abortion harassment tactics outlined in this disturbing training lead women to seek dangerous alternatives."

If god didn't want women to have abortions, he wouldn't spontaneously abort MILLIONS of "unborn babies" every year.

God = the world's #1 abortionist

Observer, please turn on the "Ignore User" feature in your software if it's there.  Thanks in advance.

The reality is that most of these kids that might be aborted have stupid fucking parents who probably believe in mystical things like God & a high likely of teaching "christianity" to their children.  As the higher your IQ is the less likely you are to believe in all things magical or superstitous.  Therefore, more non-aborted children there are in the world = more church goers later on to fill collection plates so liars and thieves can buy $200 shoes and drive around in Cadillacs.

I found the frankness of "Alice" in the above video clarifying.

She is a leader with www.stoppatriarchy.org which says they want to "set women free from slavery" by ending pornography and "patriarchy" in all forms which also includes abortion on demand.

It's good to know where everyone stands is it not?

Have a blessed day Alice.

While I am very much "pro-life", I am strongly opposed to many of the tactics of the Pro-Life crowd.  Honestly, I think it damages respect for Christians when they go out of their way to intimidate and frighten a young girl who is already scared to death about having to get an abortion.

The Pro-Life groups in Texas need to be lobbying in Austin, not in front of abortion clinics.

We now know that women who are very pregnant transfer emotions to their unborn babies.  Being terrorized by people who call themselves "Christians" is also terrifying enough to the baby.

Let's consider who the originator of legalized abortion is, and redirect our efforts to render them ineffective!

Imagine the embarrassment when the church realizes it's half of there own congregation. ....oh that's the 35-40%drop  that didn't go to that particular abortion clinic.
Maybe they could save the documentation and compare it in a few years to see how the once damned are the churches BIGGEST $$ contributors. Those picket signs didn't pay for themselves.

Am I wrong or do we have laws preventing stalking?  The anti-choice Gestapo tracks licence plates and keeps databases on American citizens.  What legal authority do they have to do that?

Intimidation has never been a good tactic for advocating your position or expressing your opinion.

If these idiots spent 1/10 as much time trying to educate young people in how to use a condom instead of this ridiculousness, there may be fewer customers for these clinics. And for those that choose to use their services, they shouldn't have to fight their way through a phalanx of nutjobs.

I've yet to see these "pro-life" folks lining up to adopt any unwanted kids. Matter of fact, probably the same folks that are protesting to have South American kids shipped back home to slaughter.

What makes you think Superstitious Idiots deserve any respect?

@Myrna.Minkoff-Katz well the problem is license plates are public info, and there are database searches that return info attached to the plates, so until they start showing up on their doorsteps harassing them, there really isnt much that you can do.

everlastingphelps

@Montemalone Right, the problem is that people can't figure out how a condom works.

You've cracked the case, wait by the phone for your Nobel prize.

@Montemalone I am unwilling to allow themselves to take the "pro-life" mantle.  Let's call them what they really are --  "forced birthers", "anti-choicers" and people who want to get all up in someone else's business.

@Montemalone "If these idiots spent 1/10 as much time trying to educate young people in how to use a condom"
I thought our public schools were already doing that

@ScottsMerkin @Myrna.Minkoff-Katz People just need to give them a taste of their own methods. Track their, Karen Garnett for example, every move and post it publicly.

@pak152 @Montemalone How many kids has Karen Garnett adopted? Eileen Romano? How many demonstrations have they given on the proper use of a condom? Why are you scared of sex aids? (I prefer the term sex toy because toys are fun and so is sex, but I'm sure you cringe at the idea of enjoying anything unless it involves shooting something).

The right for a woman to obtain an abortion is hers and for her to decide, not some addle-brained psychos on the sidewalk.

I wonder how Karen and Eileen would feel if someone was taking pictures of their license plates?

@Lorlee And when you say "get all up in someone else's business", you MEAN "get all up in someone else's business".

@pak152 @Montemalone Your level of ignorance is astounding. Texas Public schools can only teach Abstinence, the proven least-successful method of Sex Education. If they actually taught how to use a condom, Texas might not be leading the charge in teenage pregnancies the way it is now.

RTGolden1
RTGolden1 topcommenter

@pak152 @Montemalone No.  Because these same idiots demand that public schools teach abstinence only, which has never worked, isn't working now and will never work.

everlastingphelps

@Montemalone @pak152 Right, you are for education on condoms, but you are adamantly against the idea of spending 20 seconds on a sidewalk to let women know that they can put their baby up for adoption.

pak152
pak152

@Montemalone nice deflection. who cares what karen and eileen do the point is that there are organizations out there to help women with unwanted pregnancy to put their children up for adoption.

i'm not afraid of sex aids/toys not sure why you asked. but is it appropriate for Planned parenthood?

once again isn't it the job of public schools to instruct students about condoms.

"addle-brained psychos" classic attack the individuals nice

'I wonder how Karen and Eileen would feel if someone was taking pictures of their license plates?"

and whose to say that some pro-abortionists aren't doing that right now?

@pak152 17 attempted murders of abortion providers is not what I would call pro-life.

Flabbergasted
Flabbergasted

@pak152 @Montemalone  That shows the utter stupidity and lack of logic of the pro-birthers.

PRO-LIFE would mean to PREVENT an unwanted pregnancy that could end in abortion, you would teach comprehensive sex education.  When that is TAUGHT CORRECTLY, without attaching shame and religious guilt, people make the right choice and stop the abortion by preventing the pregnancy.

But you are all about control, not choice, in any form.

EvilDewDewers
EvilDewDewers

@pak152 NOT a deflection unless it helps you to deflect. The question for the Republican Vaginal Police is where does ALL this love and concern go once the baby pops out?  How do you go from being overly concerned about sperm to fetus buy could give a flying rat's ass about birth, feeding and education?    Stop trying to pretend as if you are coming from a place of compassion when it is clear you are coming from a place of holier than thou control and to push your perceived morality on others that don't want it.

Are you really proud of these people who harass women who are seeking advice, treatment and/or services from these clinics?  Is it part of the RVP agenda to add another layer of stress and guilt on those that find themselves need of these services?

everlastingphelps

@pak152 @Montemalone and whose to say that some pro-abortionists aren't doing that right now?

Actually, it's absolutely certain.  That is where they learned to do it from.

That people disagree about the best way to feed and educate children in no way means that they don't care about them.  It's a lot harder to say that you care about kids you decided to murder in the womb.

OxbowIncident
OxbowIncident

@EvilDewDewers @pak152  If you truly don't give a rats ass  about birth, feeding and education, or even sperm to fetus, for that matter, then isn't abortion the best way to not give even the smallest of a rats ass? If you abort the child, then you don't have to really deal with it all, right?

I would suppose that there are some that are a bit less zealous than others.

I would further suppose that those are the types that prefer not to engage at all and therefore, we are not discussing that subset.

everlastingphelps

@TheCredibleHulk @everlastingphelps @Montemalone @pak152 You are absolutely wrong.  I know some of the people who do this, and I know what kind of people they are.  Harassing someone isn't helping them, it's just therapy for yourself.  They know that you can save that baby if you persuade them, rather than berate them.  There's no harassing or hectoring, because they aren't willing to condemn that unborn by their own loss of control.
