After Flirting with Moderation, Texas GOP Moves Further Right on Immigration

danpatrick_cnn.jpg
Dan Patrick says the new immigration platform won't lose Hispanic voters.
When we left you on Friday, there was a glimmering hope that Texas Republicans might consider adopting a more middle-ground approach to immigration, in an attempt to appeal to Hispanic voters. According to state Representative Jason Villalba, a more moderate stance would be critical to the survival of the Republican majority in Texas. Among other initiatives, GOP members were considering a guest-worker visa program for immigrant workers, expanding on its Texas Solution platform from 2012.

Yeah, forget all that. The Tea Party lives.

On Saturday night, GOP delegates voted to nix the guest-worker program altogether. Holding up signs in the shape of fences, many delegates chanted out the need to secure the border against undocumented immigrants. Far-right Republicans prevailed in their argument to secure the border first, before any guest-worker or other provisional language could be considered.

Undocumented kids are out of luck, too. The new platform proposes doing away with in-state tuition for undocumented immigrants, which Governor Rick Perry has long supported. The Texas GOP has reinstated a 2010 position that argues for the denial of in-state tuition to undocumented students who attend high school in Texas.

Houston Republican state Senator Dan Patrick assured Texas GOPers that the new immigration platform could only be beneficial to the party.

"This idea that somehow we're not going to be able to attract Hispanic voters to our party over immigration is wrong. Because, much of the time, all Hispanics want the same thing that you want," said Patrick on Saturday. "They want a secure border."

The problem is I lived in California once your population is over 1 milion people here illegality the business interest will hired them. I know of conservative republicans in Orange County ca just like Patrick that didn't do a thing about it. They thought it was cool that the unauthorized immigrants were hired to keep wages low in the service and some of the manufacturing sector. See the same right wing lairs in Texas that I saw in Orange County. Secure the border but little action on fining companies that hire illegal immigrants. In fact the Texas right is stupid it has grown from 400,000 a period where governor Bush could have done something to probably around 1.9 million by some estimates Texas added them while California lost a few since the economy is stronger in Texas. The same promises by the right wing in Texas that didn't do anything about 20 years ago during prop 187 because they would not develop a system to fine the companies that hire them. Personality, if I didn't like illegal immigrants I would have gone to other states that have a lot less than Texas but the far right is pretty stupid.

No amnesty,No citizenship for Hispanics and other non-Whites. They are destroying all of our Cities and Towns and displacing Whites. It's time to permanently close the borders and deport millions and millions of ugly and hateful non-Whites.Republicans gain nothing by passing another amnesty for Hispanics which will benefits also Muslims would be terrorists already here and other non-Whites. We are been invaded by the third world. All the White Nations have been invaded by the third world savages. We owe nothing to non-Europeans. They have nothing in common with us,have no intention of integrating and are making a mockery out of our institutions and civilization. By passing another amnesty Whites will self-destruct sooner rather than later. It's called White genocide, Why would we want to do that? Stop the non-White invasion.

New Threat from GOP ESTABLISHMENT Secret Summer Amnesty

Fearlessly, blatantly and in the overconfident manner possible, this administration spits in our faces of the people. They lie, creating insidious issues and then covers up those very scandals and then protects those who violate the law and targets innocent conservatives and citizens for their values. Our military has been decimated at a time when world pressure is heating up. US sovereignty has been compromised and our civil rights violated. Terrorists have been put in White House positions. Americans are being forced to turn in their guns. Congress won't do anything so we MUST. Obama is the most anti-American president in the history of our country. He hides behind a veil of lies, spewing misinformation and utter contempt for our military. He's allowed terrorists to infiltrate the White House and has funded the murderers and haters of America with our taxpayer dollars in foreign countries. Are you ready to say "NO MORE? We've had enough. Some of these lawmakers may get amass of illegal aliens to vote for them, because that’s what happened with the ACORN organization in Obamas election. The majority of foreign nationals come for this governments handouts, which are no longer restricted and voters are unable to conceive that they PAY FOR IT ALL.

Right now the “Amnesty” Threat Level is at Code Red this week after our Capitol Hill team got word last week that Reps. Mick Mulvaney (R-S.C.), Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.), and Mario Diaz Balart (R-Fla.) are polling their fellow House Republicans to measure support for moving an amnesty bill before the August recess. Reportedly, if they can get enough Republicans on board with their plot, House Leadership will do a formal whip count and move an immigration bill to the floor of the House before the August recess.

Owing to the fact that the word of mouth from Obama and the Democratic Congress are yelling from the rooftops that AMNESTY is in the works, unknown numbers of people from foreign countries are hoping to reach our borders. IT IS AN INVASION BY ANY OTHER NAME. THE RECIPIENT, WHO WILL PAY FOR IT ALL, IS THE US TAXPAYER. THOSE WHO BENEFIT ARE CORPORATE INTERESTS, UNIONS & DEMOCRATS AND THE REPUBLICAN ELITE.

President Barack Obama today said the children illegally crossing the Mexican border is an "urgent humanitarian situation," and asked the Senate Appropriations Committee for an extra $1.4 billion to deal with it. Obama issued a presidential memorandum that describes his Administration’s response, which will be led by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Obviously we cannot ignore this alarming problem, but we cannot keep allowing people through this administrations open border directive. Parents in other countries are going to use their children as a fulcrum, as a clever ploy to get their un-chaperoned progeny, so they can gain entrance through CHAIN MIGRATION. How can you complain about illegal aliens invading your community if you do not know about it? How can you complain about the President of the United States secretly dumping illegal aliens in your community if he is hiding it and the media does not make this a front page story? Why should the people of Ventura County, California, Arizona or elsewhere suffer criminals put in their midst by a President that is a lawbreaker and a Congress and courts unwilling to stop his criminal actions? How soon will our schools become even more crowded, our health care saturated further declining, and welfare goes up and affordable housing transferred to illegal aliens putting honest citizens on the streets?

Illegal immigration has become a crisis in our sovereign nation and unless you supply your voices to the millions speaking out, our country is in serious trouble. Think twice which political party you vote for, and instead for the most urgent issue and not the politician. Change will only come with the rebellious NATIONAL TEA PARTY. In Congress they will kill illegal immigration and deport; no AMNESTY and no Path to citizenship for illegal aliens. Build the 2500 mile double layer fence; abolish the IRS and implement a fair tax, with no exemptions; Career politicians will be no more; only two terms for everybody; No more stimulus packages to cronies for any in Washington, that has shred our treasuries and much more.

SPEAK UP AND JOIN THE NATIONAL TEA PARTY OR BRANCH OFFICE, AND GET TO FIGHT AGAINST TYRANNY FROM BOTH PARTIES.

During the month of May 2014, there were more than 230 charges of sex crimes against children filed against illegal aliens in the state of North Carolina. These dastardly acts which rob children of their innocence, and forever change their lives are being committed in both rural and urban areas, across the Tarheel state.

Unfortunately, this is nothing new. In fact, hundreds of such crimes are committed every single month in North Carolina by those who have no right to be in this country.

Since January 1, there have been nearly 1,300 sex crimes against children attributable to illegal aliens in that state.

Policy and politics notwithstanding, a 1200 mile fence along Texas' Rio Grande border with Mexico is an incredibly stupid concept. It's a Washington kind of stupid. But politicians who actually live in Texas should be embarrassed and angered by it.

Waste of time, Obama will do what he wants eventually, and that's to open up the borders.

Republicans know the battle is lost, but they have to go through the motions.

Just keep in mind that these end-runs around the democratic process to institute free immigration for favored groups, institute Common Core, Obamacare, etc, empty Gitmo, and stamp out legal businesses that Obama doesn't like are the same mechanisms the next ideologue in the White House can use to end legal abortion or any other policy he doesn't like.

Suck it up and salute, amigos.

It isn't going to cost any Hispanic votes because Hispanics aren't going to vote GOP anyways.  Mexican nationals are generally socialist, and aren't going to vote for fiscal conservatives.

Secure the border first.  We've done this before.  "Give this away, and we'll secure the border at the same time."  Bullshit.  The border never gets secured.  The secure borders group has given room to compromise before, and we got shit on for it.

Hold up your end of the last three compromises and maybe we can start talking.

a bit more nuanced than "cooking the books".

Somehow, the Obama administration is simultaneously responsible for the highest rate of deportation in 20 years and a 26 percent drop in deportation. What is going on here? As it turns out, changes in immigration law, terminology and classification are causing this confusion.

As I understand it, banks can pressured to not deal in certain dollars from legal business.

OTOH, Feds work to get banks to accept other monies, like Colorado weed money, contra Federal Law.

As we see in last week's wash post, this administration will grant extraordinary, rapid fundamental change without you and I and Congress knowing.

here is an explanation of what Operation Choke Point entails:

The probe aims to prevent fraudsters from accessing consumer bank accounts by choking off their access to the payments system. Since Operation Choke Point was launched last year, the DOJ has sent subpoenas to more than 50 banks and payment processing firms. Simultaneously, federal banking regulators and authorities in various states have also been targeting banks over their role as a gateway for merchants into the payment system

the term is "reputation risk". the business itself may be "legal" but they may be engaging in "illegal" money transactions.

OTOH, Feds work to get banks to accept other monies, like Colorado weed money, contra Federal Law.

in the case of Washington and Colorado it is now legal to be in the marijuana business. Banks were given guidelines on how to deal with providing these legal businesses access to the financial system. how can that be criticized?

As we see in last week's wash post, this administration will grant extraordinary, rapid fundamental change without you and I and Congress knowing.

all within the powers granted to the Executive Branch. or anyone could go to the other branches for relief if there is an unconstitutional act.

If these businesses are frauds, laws and precedent exist to shut them down. This in an expansion of government privilege that could, in the wrong hands, shut down abortion clinics nationwide.

As for passing laws, that was a joke - he adjusts laws, changes laws, chooses which laws should be enforced, which conflict with his ideology and should. Therefore be not enforced.
