A DeSoto Teacher and Alleged Role Model Is Accused of Sexually Assaulting Teen Boys

Dallas County
Pamela Jones, a teacher, is charged with two counts of sexual assault.
Pamela Jones is a teacher at DeSoto's alternative high school. She's 35. She has a husband and four kids. She works for Athletes for Change, whose mission to "provide exceptional role models" to young people. If authorities are right, she has an odd sense of what makes a great role model.

On April 26, Jones went to the apartment of an aunt of one of her 16-year-old male students. According to statements provided to police, she put her hand on his leg multiple times, but the student continued to push it off, feeling that the situation was weird. Eventually, the two had sex in the car. "I thought we were just gonna be chillin'," the student later told police. "I didn't know it was gonna go down."

At the end of May, Jones invited another 16-year-old student to her houseand Jones left her four children in the care of the student's friend. Then, Jones and the student left the room and had sex, police say.

According to police, a coach at DeSoto High School notified the Child Abuse Unit after becoming aware of the situation. Fox 4 reported Thursday that Jones' husband found out and alerted the president of Athletes for Change, who then turned her in. The president told Fox 4: "Once any abuse or neglect we're notified of, we have not only a moral, but a legal obligation to make that call and we did."

Jones was arrested on Wednesday for sexual assault of a child, a second-degree felony. On Thursday, according to Fox 4, a third student told Athletes for Change administrators that Jones had also had sex with him.

Where is the hysterical lynch mob from the other Pedophile story clamoring for this WOMAN to be JAILED FOR LIFE!??

One of two things:

Either every teacher who has sex with students gets caught;  there's a couple new cases every week.

Or,  there's one Helluva lotta sex going on between teachers and students and only a few get caught.

Which gets your vote?

I think when it comes to stories like this media should refrain from posting pictures and making a huge deal. This women's life is now ruined regardless thanks to the Observer and friends. Last I checked in this country we're innocent until proven guilty

The writing of a story demands more middle when the beginning is "she put her hand on his leg multiple times, but the student continued to push it off, feeling that the situation was weird" and the end/next sentence is "Eventually, the two had sex in the car."

It's analogous to writing "he got in his car" then "everyone was killed in the crash". What?

She's obviously one of those Republicans grooming all these kids.

http://www.cbsnews.com/news/has-media-ignored-sex-abuse-in-school/

"Consider the statistics: In accordance with a requirement of President Bush's No Child Left Behind Act, in 2002 the Department of Education carried out a study of sexual abuse in the school system.

...

"[T]hink the Catholic Church has a problem?" she said. "The physical sexual abuse of students in schools is likely more than 100 times the abuse by priests."

First! And it probably wasn't a first for any of these students, but it may have been a first teacher for all of them.

@LovingPerson  "Innocent till proven" is a concept in law,  not life.  There had to be 'probable cause' to get an arrest warrant,  with a case that's been investigated,  not an arrest made at the time,  the facts were reviewed by supervisors,  often a Judge,  before the warrant goes out.

Dropped charges never catch up with the damage done from the initial arrest.

But, on teacher-student,   I don't recall any 'dropped charges.'

Anecdotally,  friend produces amateur porn for the internet,  told me he q's models about prior sex experience.  Said he's always amazed at how many report some of their initial sexual contact was with teachers.

 Your experience may differ.

@LovingPerson

Are you perchance a middle-aged, female high-school teacher?

Just wondering . . .

@LovingPerson

Your middle sentence is so wrong that it explodes a possible point in your first sentence, and even the trite cliche of your last sentence.

"...thanks to the Observer and friends." Bullshit -- she ruined her own life. She's been ARRESTED which is now public record. Do you think somehow that if we were not here snarking about it, that she would be going on about her business?

@lebowski300

Yeah, there were a number of journalistic errors in the article.  I noted the multiple references to Fox 4 news.  It comes off as if she just wrote about something she saw on TV - a common practice among Dallas Observer's writers.

Like a sewage spill rippling into the house from the back yard, this is unwanted spill-over from the Highland Park story comments, political posturing foisted onto a non-political child molestation story. Get a grip, dude.

@roo_ster I thought the Act was interpreted as Leave no Child's Behind Intact.

@roo_ster  "As the National Catholic Register's reporter Wayne Laugesen points out, the federal report said 422,000 California public-school students would be victims before graduation — a number that dwarfs the state's entire Catholic-school enrollment of 143,000."

This number doesn't take into account the fact that there are many more children in school in California, than there are children who spend time alone with Catholic priests. A better statistic would be "for every hour a child spends alone with a teacher or a Priest, for how many minutes are they being molested?"

@roo_ster It's a lot easier to become a teacher than a priest, so the payoff is much quicker if you want access to kids.

@doublecheese @roo_ster

I'm still mind-boggled by the long-term focus that incents a wanna-be child molester to train for an occupation specifically for access to kids. Volunteering for church or Scout or other such access is one thing, but to actually pick a career field, with its requisite years of prep, in order to molest kids is a level of life motivation that the military or the medical field would envy.

@doublecheese @wcvemail @roo_ster I think you are overthinking it.  It's more that the sorts of people who want a "change the world" job (which just also happens to be a nice safe government job and in a field where horrible grades in college isn't a barrier) are also more likely to be degenerate libertines who slide from general lasciviousness into actual molestation.

One  would assume that includes "change the world" careers like Priest or Minister.
