The Cowboys' New Frisco Headquarters/Theme Park Looks Elaborate (Video)

Categories: Sports

The Cowboys' move from Valley Ranch to Frisco is moving forward. On Monday, the Frisco City Council took a look at some initial plans for the 66-acre site.

Of course, America's Team can't settle for a tasteful office complex and modest practice facility. The keystone of the project will be "Cowboys Alley," the retail-and-restaurant development planned for the entrance to what The Dallas Morning News refers to as a "multi-use sports complex."

It is, judging by the video produced for the council by O'Brien Architects, a small Cowboys theme park, where fans gather to dine at football-themed restaurants and cheer wildly at what appears to be 20-year-old footage of Emmitt Smith. Somehow, it seems to fit in Frisco.

Send your story tips to the author, Eric Nicholson.

Does JJ honestly think people will travel from tarrant or south Dallas on a regular basis to "hang out" in Frisco? I love them Boys, and make it a point to go to at least one game a year. But to drive up to Frisco for a Emmit Smith themed steak...my love just isn't that strong.

Isn't Cowboy Salley the name of a porn flick?  Or is that Cowboy Sally?

"Somehow, it seems to fit in Frisco."

Hahaha! Yeah, those dumb yokels! No way would the urbane sophisticates of Dallas lower themselves to be anywhere near such an affront to aesthetics!

Maybe if the former Cowboy's had this to put their Restaurants in, they wouldn't have all failed!

Ha.  The more y'all jab at Frisco, the more we know we are doing something right.  I would call it "hating", but in reality it is just good ole jealousy.

Spectacular. That ought to put some touchdowns on that oversized scoreboard at the Deathstar.

Nice dig at Frisco. You know, if there's one thing Frisco needs a little more of, it's retail and restaurants. Jesus, the whole place is a commercial/retail orgy.

When are people going to realize that JJ doesn't have a steak to go with all of that sizzle?

@wake.n.jake That is how people in Collin County feel about going to Arlington. I hate going to Arlington ! You guys have Dallas Cowboys Football and Collin County has the training facility. Sounds fair to me.We have plenty of fans in the area to take care of the venue.

You obviously don't get up here much.  Yes, if you go north on Preston or the Tollway from 121 there is a good bit of commercial/retail.  That is the southern heart of Frisco and it is to be expected.  A lot of that was developed after Frisco wisely stole Stonebriar and its sales tax from Plano on the south side of 121.  But see, there are many other north/south roads on Frisco with little to no retail.  Teel, Legacy, Ohio, Hillcrest, Coit, Independence and Custer are 4 lane roads with only the periodic neighborhood shopping center with grocery anchor.  Lets not forget the many east/west roads in between that connect all the neighborhoods of the 120,000+ people that live up here.

@crandsoj So it's either commercial sprawl to the south or residential sprawl to the north. Got it.
