Police say that Benjamin Kevin Newman was drunk when he left The Hangout Patio Bar in Plano on Thursday night. The 22-year-old Dallas resident also must have been angry, since he allegedly steered his car into four people standing in the parking lot.

"We believe, based on the evidence and talking to some of the witnesses and staff, that this was intentional," says Plano PD spokesman David Tilley.

Three of the four victims were bar employees.

The crash happened around 10:30 p.m. Police found Newman a short time later, driving his white sedan down Central Expressway. They took him to the Collin County jail on charges of driving while intoxicated and accident involving injury.

Newman's potential punishment -- and his $110,000 bond -- are about to increase significantly. Word comes today that one of his alleged victims, 23-year-old Christopher Ryan Brigman, has died from his injuries.

Tilley says Newman will face additional charges, but investigators aren't yet sure what they will be.

"They can range anywhere from intoxication assault all the way up to murder," Tilley says.

Friends have set up a Facebook page in Brigman's memory.

Send your story tips to the author, Eric Nicholson.

For all the people on here that thinks this is a joking matter...I am the bar employee that was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries after being hit by this kid in his car. I do not feel the bar was responsible for his actions because he did leave and get on the service road to the highway and decided to turn around and come back into the parking lot and run us down. This is a horrible thing and I know my family and I have been through a really rough time and I know the deceased man's family has too, so please stop turning this situation into a joke and talking bad about this bar and grill that this happened at. Thank you

Why isn't the Bar being held CRIMINALLY Liable ??

Did the  Plano PD spokesman literally say, "...and stuff..."? Was the spokesman drunk?

If he got drunk at the bar, then aren't they liablle for his actions as well?

Will the bar sue itself?

@lebowski300
It DID read, "...and stuff..." but has been corrected. My proofreading eyes are excellent.

@TheRuddSki

The party suing the bar has the burden of proving the bar served alcohol to a cutomer when they should have known the customer was too intoxicated to be served.

The party suing the bar must also be able to show that the bar was the major contributor to the intoxication. IOW if the customer was at multiple bars that is really tough to prove, or if he had his own stash of alcohol he drank from.

Successfully drew you out. Does this make you a "vulture"?

You actually collect my typos. Wow.

@mavdog @TheRuddSki  knowing a bar owner who had a patron kill someone, it doesnt matter where they drank, they are held responsible, some more than others, as he lost his TABC licence and bar, yet somehow the previous bar where he had a lot to drink was only slapped on the wrist bc they are a major chain

@mavdog

Yes, I know all that, but it's an interesting issue if, in fact, the bar is found to be responsible for his condition if he, in fact "attacked" the bar

However, in this case, it would be the injured parties or relatives of the deceased suing the bar, but the parking lot is presumably part of the bar, so will it sue itself as well?

Just so you know, I'm being facetious here, mostly.

@mavdog @TheRuddSki  Are there details that he fled to Florida? Has he been deported in the past after committing multiple felonies?

What he did was terrible but those that commit hit and runs are truly human garbage and should be removed from the gene pool sooner rather than later.

Double-whammy! Most use FOX to prove their mettle. You're on a roll, kid!

Say, have you seen the latest on CBS as reported on uber-right-wing CNN? Dan "FakeButAccurate" Rather couldn't be reached for comment. LOL

@JFPO

The suspect is white, so the Ruddski Rule doesn't apply here.

Another gender-studies grad who thinks "serial criminal foreign national" is a "race".

Collin County doesn't have Florida Crackers, unless they're imports, Collin County has dumb-ass, boot-scootin, lane-blocking redneck dumbasses that couldn't even get a job in the Black Hole of Dallas. Maybe they will shoot at the punk-ass little boy, who looks like he could be a class-warrior "Occupy" camper, but they'll probably miss and kill someone's shar-pei.

Anyway, his boyfriend in prison will probably be a lot more "diverse" than he's accustomed to.

I'm just looking for all the posts from those who are hoping for the accused to "being shot in the back numerous times till dead" by the "badass trigger-happy crackers" of law enforcement up in Colin County.
