Meet U.S. Senate Hopeful Chris Mapp, Who Thinks "Wetbacks" Should Be Shot on Sight

Categories: Politics

Chris Mapp for U.S. Senate
You probably haven't heard of Chris Mapp, a South Texas boat salesman and one of the six also-rans challenging John Cornyn in the Republican primary for U.S. Senate, and here's hoping you never have occasion to hear of him again after March 4.

If you do, chances are disconcertingly high that it will somehow involve a smoking rifle and a dead Mexican. That would at least be in line with what he told the center-right editorial board of The Dallas Morning News, the most influential newspaper in the state:

South Texas businessman Chris Mapp, 53, told this editorial board that ranchers should be allowed to shoot on sight anyone illegally crossing the border on to their land, referred to such people as "wetbacks," and called the president a "socialist son of a bitch."

Mapp elaborates on the topic on his campaign website.

"Let's face it," he writes, "there would be a lot less concrete, roofs, and landscaping without illegal immigrants (yes, illegal immigrants - that is what they are)."

But Mapp isn't anti-immigrant per se. "It is important to accept new citizens but it is important to know: who they are, their background, and that they will contribute in a positive way to be good citizens."

And who are these "good citizens"? Glad you asked.

The term good citizen means earning your own way, paying taxes, No entitlements, No food stamps, NO FREE HEATH CARE, NO HAVING NUMEROUS NEW BORNS TO COLLECT MORE WELFARE, no free housing, no obama phones, and no right to vote for the first three years. They must be willing to pledge allegiance to this country, speak English and have a job which has taxes deducted like anyone else. NO SPECIAL TREATMENT. A tax return, even if no funds are owed, must be filed in order to track employment verification...

What that means to Americans who were born here is, "GET OFF YOUR DEAD ASS AND GET TO WORK!"

Mapp stops just shy of saying people who rely on government assistance should also be shot on sight: "If I had it my way, I would cut your money off and force you to starve or work."

He also doesn't explicitly advocate the murder of President Obama. He merely blames the president for a breakneck slide into "Marxist Communism" and the destruction of American society as we know it.

"Our forefathers and those that have fought for our country did not bleed and die on both our's and foreign soil for such a destiny."

Mapp also dislikes marijuana advocates, with whom he's been battling on his Facebook page.

"You do have your head up your ass and every immature individual that believes this is the way," he writes. "As this society degrades, I hope they can learn to speak a second language and that language had better be Chinese because if marijuana is your biggest issue then you are screwed and it pains me that you would take your country with you. your views will get this country in a place that liberty will become but a memory."

Needless to say, Mapp didn't get the Morning News endorsement.

Send your story tips to the author, Eric Nicholson.

NO he would NOT shoot those  HUMAN BEINGS !!!!

Anyone can call himself a Christian; God is watching what we *do*, in addition to what we say. That pesky Sixth Commandment, given by God to Moses on Mt. Sinai, makes it pretty clear that shooting and killing people because they walked on a piece of real estate isn't OK.

He'd get my vote!

People need to realize that fewer people would die attempting to cross the border than do now, if our military would actually guard the border and shoot to kill people attempting to cross at unauthorized locations.  About ten people would die discovering we were serious and that would be the end of if.

As for the use of the word "wetback," the uninformed would do well to Google "Operation Wetback" and understand what President Eisenhower was able to accomplish.

Wow Mr. Mapp! Impressive stuff.

I've never actually seen someone running for a US Senate seat so willing to curse at and belittle veterans, sick children and the millions of voters in this country that are ready to vote for medical marijuana, industrial hemp as well as full blown legalization. It's pretty astounding that you'd be so willing to commit political suicide over the internet before you're even able to reach 1,000 supporters on your campaign's Facebook page.

Are you sure you're looking to represent the people of Texas? Or are you just another bought and paid for chump looking to make a living off of politics? Your cannabis ignorance leads me to believe that you are the latter.

Please accept Tristan Tucker's invitation for a debate on sensible drug policy because clearly someone needs to educate you about cannabis, sir because I can assure you that neither I, nor any of the 58% of Texas voters that support the legalization of marijuana will be voting for you anytime soon. I'm a voting, tax-paying citizen of this state and if you aren't going to represent my people then we'll find someone who will.

Respectfully (even though you don't deserve it),

In my opinion, any conservative candidate that brings the term ObamaPhone to the table just isn't trying that hard.

" He also doesn't explicitly advocate the murder of President Obama."

You fail to show where he advocates it all.  You show that he dislikes the President and is willing to take all kinds of hyperbolic leaps as to why he does.  That's all.  You're trying to harvest a crop from a seed that hasn't even been planted yet.

Unfortunately Chris Mapp is not too different in his positions than the rest of the republican candidates. Mapp may just be less nuanced than the others.

these candidates are tripping over each other to show they are the "true conservative" and the opponent is not. you know, a "true conservative" is different than just being "a conservative". at least to a certain element.....

to see the ad by Hufffines last night that asked "why is Carona running negative ads", only to be a negative ad itself and call Carona a "liberal" was almost surreal.

Add in the Patrick and Staples ads...

The biggest stumbling block to marijuana legalization is the face of the legalization movement.  I would vote in a minute to legalize the stuff, but I would not be seen with them in public.  Thank the Lord for the secret ballot, and may we soon be able to exercise it on this issue.

@Sharon_Moreanus As a sixth-gen Texian (notice that spelling), I'm tickled by the demands for English only. While there's money to be saved by not printing EVERY gov't doc in multiple languages, there would be a huge cost in renaming Amarillo to "Yellow" and so many more. And what about Latin? I guess we'd have to rename Corpus Christi, too.

"Unfortunately Chris Mapp is not too different in his positions than the rest of the republican candidates. Mapp may just be less nuanced than the others."

Vague, unsupported assertions to reach an obscure guilty by association inference.

All GOP candidates want to "shoot wetbacks" and stop just short of explicitly advocating "the m^&*^&r of President Obama"?

Is it just Monday or is that really your best effort?

@roo_ster @iamshaun  That is partially because the faces you want to see, who do use marijuana, can't come out and say they do use an illegal substance. We're getting there though.

@WhyDontYouJoinNAMBLA @mavdog Leave it to other racist TeaPubliKKKlan scum to come dashing in to support this racist TeaPubliKKKlan scum... I'm fairly certain you're aware that David Duke, like the overwhelming bulk of the Klan before him, left the Democratic Party for greener pastures with the TeaPubliKKKlan Treason movement when his last attempt at running under the Democratic banner was soundly rebuffed.  Of course, for you to admit that would mean you'd have to display a certain amount of honesty, and that would NEVER happen, now, would it?

mavdog
mavdog topcommenter

@dingo

I'm not certain that the rest of the field would have a problem with forced deportation of illegals. I am not certain that the candidates (such as Dan Patrick and his "Border Champion" plank) would not back down if asked if they would disagree with Mapp on shooting illegals crossing the border.

do you? if you do, what statements of the candidates do you base that opinion on?

As for the "explicity advocating murder", that was just over the top hyperbole by Nicolson. Mapp didn't say anything of the sort.

is that the best defense of this right wing field of republican candidates you can muster? that maybe they aren't as wacko as Mapp?

I should admit now that I haven't advocated the invasion of Canada yet. At least not in this venue, but someone has to do something about those damn border-hopping geese.

Here, they're having "egg-oiling" parties, while I suggested jut shooting them to feed the homeless. I have no idea what egg oiling does to reduce the goose, but I do know that birdshot works wonders

gla you call it correctly "murder". how you could call the rest of the field of republican candidates as "mainstream" defies logic.

here's Patrick's website. note the reference to the "Urdu" booklet, the "thermal image" photo.

not too much of a leap to conclude that Patrick would not back down with a use of force.

dingo

@mavdog

So, in your eyes, Patrick might advocate murder even though he hasn't?

I did not offer any 'defense', I made comments on your conclusory association of the more mainstream candidates with Mapp.

@mavdog @ruddski  So she voted for bills that were going to pass with an overwhelming majority just to boost her 2nd amendment angle?  Oldest trick in the book.  Show me where she sponsored or co-sponsored open carry legislation.  Yeah, that's right.  She hasn't.  And she has had plenty of opportunity.

mavdog
mavdog topcommenter

@ruddski

the first link shows Davis' votes on gun legislation during the last session. Davis voted yes on the bills very much not an anti-gun legislator.

Apparently you are having difficulty understanding the 20 week abortion issue, simply put the Bill she filibustered had zero tolerance for a woman and her doctor to elect to terminate the pregnancy post 20 weeks even if the women's health was threatened. As Davis said during the filibuster and in her comments of a few weeks ago, if the woman's health were to be taken into account she would be supportive of the bill.

so no flip flop, consistency in her positions.

@ruddski

Davis' support for open carry is consistent.

http://votesmart.org/candidate/key-votes/108093/wendy-davis/37/guns

Davis' didn't fip flop on 20 week abortion either...

"The [20 week] ban will have devastating consequences ...it is important that a woman and her doctor have every medical option available"

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1c0xuAFFc_6klQ1nrnQ72Qd9Y-o_uG8rSykO4wDgNqFQ/edit?pli=1

Wendy Davis said Tuesday that she would have supported a ban on abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy, if the law adequately deferred to a woman and her doctor.

"why dont you tell us who is guilty of "dishonesty, hypocrisy, flipping the flop"?"

I was talking about Davis, and the impression she's projecting. The abortion flip thing riled some libs and got some national attention, the open carry flop also got same.

I'm not going to harvest links, but maybe you could search, say, NRO or something if you're skeptical - and none mention her ample breasts, so you'll not be offended.

I think the issue is dishonesty, hypocrisy, flipping the flop, political opportunism, and taking voters for gullible rubes, not open carry per se.

I don't care, for me it's all an issue of open blouses.

@mavdog  Now the right-wingers jump on Davis for coming out in favor of what they wanted.  That's exactly what they did to Obama after the conservative Heritage Foundation originated the whole concept of what is now called, "Obamacare".  They're their own worst enemies, which is what has resulted in the implosion of the GOP.

ruddski
ruddski

I have no prob with the law, tho I wouldn't open carry for obvious reasons.

I'm jus wondering how Texas liberals (or whatever the proper identifier is) feel about it.
