Help Fort Worth Police Catch This Terrible Bank Robber

Pro tip: When planning a bank heist, it's best to eliminate or conceal any distinguishing features that might help cops identify you later. Exhibit A is this Fort Worth bank robber's grotesque salt-and-pepper facial hair.

Yes, the powder blue sweats are suitably nondescript, and the beanie-over-the-eyes trick is a nice touch, but that beard is seared onto the retinas of the tellers at the Wells Fargo in the 1600 block of South University Drive as well as anyone he's encountered for as long as that scruff has adorned his chin.

We get that this man was probably lacking in funds -- why rob a bank otherwise? -- but a perfectly serviceable Bic razor retails for, like, a quarter. Too much? The cops in Dallas won't even show up if you shoplift one.

The beard wasn't quite egregious enough to foil the robbery attempt; the man made off with an undisclosed amount of cash on what police described as a silver, cruiser-style bicycle. One suspects, however, that his days as a free man are numbered.

I have an idea.  Screw the Fort Worth PD.

You should always cooperate with law enforcement.  However, when law enforcement blatantly misrepresent the truth, they need to be called out!

Many police departments across the U.S. are migrating to Phase I or Phase II P25 transmissions citing changes in the law, privacy, & officer safety.

However, there is no evidence to support the bogus contention that officers have been harmed as a function of someone listening to a police scanner.  The statistics don't reflect such.

If this is your hobby, you need to find another.  Also, for those of you wanting to hear Fort Worth PD on a Smart Phone, you will be in the dark once the migration occurs.  http://fortworthgov.granicus.com/MetaViewer.php?view_id=2&clip_id=1821&meta_id=216705

The argument that the law changed does not explain why other LE agencies have opted out of full encryption.  Please, tell me why around 96.3% of the identified talk groups (channels) for the "Fort Worth Regional Radio System" have endangered their lives by not following the example of Fort Worth PD?  Since this system is being installed, I am seeing a total of 64 separate talk groups as of this date.

For those who may be unfamiliar with the intricacies of police scanner programming, you can look in the area below "System Frequencies" to see "Fort Worth Police Talk Groups."  Ever single one of the FWPD talk groups are fully encrypted as evidenced by  "E"  in the "mode" column.  The other agencies listed on this page are using P25 digital mode as indicated by the "D."   http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=7349

Yes, they make digital police scanners that can intercept police transmissions.  These radios sometimes run over $400.

If you go further down the page, you will see other agencies who have opted not to encrypt their radios.  Are they not following the letter of the law? FWPD stated there were changes in the law that disallowed certain information as their propaganda stated?   I would imagine they are making reference to HIPPA laws.

I don't have a problem with LE using encryption; however, not for dispatch channels.  Narcotics, tactical, vice, homicide & CID generally warrant some encryption.

Fort Worth, you're playing the public for fools!

This sort of issue occurred in the southern part of Missouri (MOSWIN radio system) & New Orleans (LWIN radio system); however, the citizens stood up to them.

Now, New Orleans is making sensible use of encryption at present.  http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=4347

Wait a minute.  Isn't bank robbery a federal crime?  If it is, then why are  the local police investigating?  Shouldn't the FBI be investigating this?

After all, the feds make a big deal about how only they can enforce the immigration laws since the immigration laws are a federal matter.

I'm pretty sure that's writer/rapper Zac Crain. The homeless guy beard is a dead giveaway.

@RTGolden1 My thoughts exactly. It's quicker to change your look if you shave, as opposed to growing a beard.

@RTGolden1 Exactly, taking a page from Harrison Ford's character in the film "The Fugitive."
