You Can Now Go Fake Skydiving in Frisco

First off, let's make one thing clear. Contrary to what the company claims on its website, or what the above headline might suggest, iFly does not offer "indoor skydiving." There's no sky. No diving. Just a vertical wind tunnel and baggy jumpsuits.

That said, iFly Dallas, the company's brand-new facility at Stonebriar Centre in Frisco, does offer some pretty intense hovering. Observe:

The setup is pretty straightforward. iFlyers go through a brief instructional seminar, suit up, then hop into the wind tunnel, which produces a column of air moving at somewhere between 130 and 175 miles per hour. Then, they do some fake skydiving.

iFly is open to pretty much anyone who's not an infant, pregnant, or morbidly obese so long as they pay up and sign a waiver.

Odd that iFly Dallas is in Frisco.

Call it iFly Frisco. You're not in Dallas.

Dallas always looses to the burbs on shit like this.

It's awesome and I've all ready joined a league.

Make sure you get a instructor that will bring ya up to the top of the tunnel.

Another loss to the burbs opening soon: http://www.k1speed.com/dallas-location.html

I think the experience could be vastly improved by blocking out the people sitting there watching you and make it feel like you are surrounded by sky and that there is ground below you. Seems like a simple thing to do.

When u tandem out of a plane, you can't jump if your over 280. They do it case by case and charge more after 240. 240-259 +40. 260-280 +60.

There are others in the tunnel with you, so it's a group weight factor.

The fan is actually at the top (not btm) so it pulls you up.

Someone in love with Frisco? That is just adorable.

But yes, Dallas does tend to lose out on stuff like this... stupid shit to do at the mall.

@Sharon_Moreanus - still stuck in city vs burbs sectioning? business owners always shoot to expand out of Dallas. Its what brings profit

@Sharon_Moreanus Dallas also loses out on diverse neighborhoods. Just don't tell them lily-white east Dallasites that......for that burst their lily-white bubbles.

@valorie1

They might also block out the cheesy 1980s VHS instructional video guitar soundtrack.

@MikeDunlap Don't worry you can still go on old timey tweed rides through Oak Cliff. Though I'm sure the closing of the adult daycare center has you incredibly upset, surely someone will step up to fill the void in the EZ Bake oven cooking class offerings.

@Sharon_Moreanus Don't you know that the less white it is, the more diverse it is?

Seriously though, the suburbs are the true melting pots.  Places where minorities are middle and upper middle class.  Dallas is pretty much still segregated.
