Under Governor Abbott, disco will be mandatory.
As his bid to become Texas' next governor ramps up, Attorney General Greg Abbott is turning to constituents for ideas for "making Texas even better." Since Abbott is a serious candidate, and since he wants serious suggestions, he turned to the premiere forum for nuanced political discourse and reasoned policy analysis: Facebook.

Based on the feedback, here's what to expect from Governor Abbott.

Mass Deportation of LIberals and/or Mexicans and/or Muslims and/or Gays

Hal Wade: "Expell muslims and illegals and close the border behind them!"
Brad Helton: "A free one way bus ticket to commiefornia for all the libs. Send em home and hope they stay."
Earl Grimes: "Close the borders. The one with Mexico and New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana. Then kick out all the damn liberals."
Gordy Rohrbacker: "Round up all the muslims and move them to mexico. Along with the illegal's"
Counts Henry: "Deport Most Libs/Dumbocraps"
Cano Felix: "Throw out liberals, muslims, all LGBT gay people as their trying to do the same to us the now minority!"
Brad Gustin: "Secure All the borders (not just the ones with Mexico) and then kick out All the liberals and illegals! I hear there is a lot of cheap land for sale in Detroit...."
Mike McLain: "How about making people pass an iq test before they can move here from another state, and especially before they can vote."
Loretta Edwards: "Sharia law is not appropriate ANYWHERE IN AMERICA! Muslims came here voluntarily. They either (1) came here to be an addition to the American way of life OR (2)they came here to convert America to an Islamic way of life. If they came here for option 1, Sharia law was not here prior to their arrival and has no need to be added. If they came because of option 2, GO HOME! They are not welcome here and should they be naive enough to believe they can change us from the inside out.....get ready for a fight!

"During a Muslim Brotherhood march in Europe, a leader was asked why he was not obeying the law of the land. His comment was the most honest I have heard to date. He said, 'When Islam is the law of the land, we will obey the law of the land.' Boy! That tells me everything I need to know about it."

Independence

Mike Crowson: "Dump Obama the Treasonous and the US and become an independent country"
David Adcock: "Secession! That is the ONLY solution to the Wimpublican-And-Obammunist Slavery that the National RATS and Moronic-Wimpublicans can HARDLY WAIT to impose upon our children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren - and etc., etc., etc., ... JUST STOP IT! (Doesn't ANYONE in gummint EVER read The Constitution any longer? [Even when these DungHeaps "pledge allegiance" to it?] Or are they Too STUPID to understand it any longer?)"
Daniel James: "become it own government"
Barry Dusek: "Secede, secure the border. Think about it, if Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and maybe Florida formed their own country, we could drill for oil, make our own gas and sell the rest to America for a good high price."
Don Embrey: "Find a way to remove Federal "Ownership" or Oversight from all the National Forests, Parks, etc, Federal buildings, and ANYTHING controlled by the Federal Government. They are PURE EVIL and nobody i know wants them and their tyrannic behavior inside the boundaries of the State of Texas. There is, in the fine print, rules that give the States rights over federal "property" when the feds shut down and can't do their jobs. Ill be DAMNED if they try to keep me out of any land owned by THE PEOPLE. Washington is a government AGAINST THE PEOPLE. We are STUPID not to draw ANOTHER line in the sand bigger than the Alamo, and Guard it like never before. Obama is PURE EVIL. He should not even be allowed in our State. If i can help, you just let me know."

Rampant Vigilantism

Nelson Eaton: "Start treating loberals like Coyote's."
Rob Martin: "Just turn a blind eye for about two months.WE'LL make Texas better."
Don Embrey: "Wendy Davis will Rot in Hell. Baby killing atheist bitch."

New Special-Interest Groups

Randy Rios: "Take a look at the child support you mother fucker. Then you can have my vote you bitch"
Jamie Fuller: "Stop micro managing the mobile home Bueness"
Shawn Whitehead: "Im in Cypress Tx and every night My husband and i sit out side and for the past month or so there is a plane that sit up in the sky ,think it could be a drone cause for 3-4 it sits in one place and doesnt move and then it will take off,my question is WHY WHY? and Whats it doing just sitting there> we see other planes flying and its not a star we can tell the Difference.WHY and Whats going on?"
Eustace Hawker: "First........ thing is our US Troops , US Veterans and their family members.....Texas is BIG in the "Trucking Business"- Grandfather all US Troops and US Veterans with a CDL LICENSE....MANY US Troops are driving big military trucks......so, a CDL LICENSE would be good.....Start CDL TRAINING on every US Base TEXAS for US Troops and US Veterans with "NO TRUCK EXPERIENCE" CDL TRAINING Class have to be flexible. ......classes during week and weekend...With (night) and (day) classes........Classes even on the weekend.Troops and Veterans work different times so it has to be flexible.(*) also make the training available for MILITARY SPOUSE HAS WELL GREGG ABBOTT you want to win , you my VOTE......MAKE MILITARY FAMILIES STRONG!!! MAKE US STRONG, WE'LL MAKE AMERICA STRONG!!!!!!
Barry Baudoin: "Smart Redlights in Houston that send alerts to the main office when they go out or blink red and be reset at the main office. Better timing schedules during primetime traffic hours, It should not take me an hour to go 18 miles to work and longer going back home.

"Push for a cafeteria type cable/sat TV. I want to pay for what I watch. I can't understand Spanish or pig Latin, so I shouldn't pay for those channels."

Increased Legal Protections for Landlords

Alice Finney: "Secure the boarders."

Most or all of the suggestions came from Abbott supporters, and most were divisive. It was refreshing, then, to see a significant minority expressing a nonpartisan hope that Texas will have a bright future:

Wallercounty Redreck Truckclub: "Succeed!!!"
Josh Keal: Succeed now!
John Harris: "Succeed!"
Sue Weaver-Spencer: "Succeed!"
Curtis Ballew: "succeed from the union"

Hahah bvckvs... you just grouped yourself with the idiots above by taking time to write a comment like that. Thanks for contributing to the dialog.

Truth is, this kind of rampant idiocy is on both sides of the fence. I actually know more short-sighted, pig-headed, uneducated self-proclaimed democrats than I could possibly express, but unlike this author, I don't invite them into the conversation. This likely has to do with where I live. Unfortunately, they all vote (as do the individuals who made the posts above).  So, it would seem, given our most recent popular election, there are actually more Democratic morons than Republican.  And that's basically how the system works. They have set beliefs that misconstrue their perception of candidates to justify voting in a predefined direction. Great plan. But they're too dumb to see that. Are you? Seems so.

Me? I'm independent. I vote for individuals who's values, intentions, and track record are in line with what I envision would be most valuable at a given time for a given office in a given place.

Thank GOD for the Internet.  The free speech it fosters shines a great, big, bright light on the true character of the Republican people.

While the Republican leadership is trying to convince folks that their members are good, decent, and rational folks, the members themselves are proving the exact opposite.

Did anyone suggest Mr Abbott retire from politics and return to a private legal practice?

What is it with right wing types, and deporting the people they see as undesirable?

I have good news. I can solve one of the problems here right now. Shawn Whitehead, your "drone" is probably the planet Venus, which is very low in the southwest these days.

I'm originally from Bastrop, Texas (a small town about 20 miles south of Austin). The majority of Texans are not like this. Austin is a very "crunchy granola hippy dippy" type place and is probably the place with the people most of these people complain about. People like this are shunned from Austin and all of the other "big four" cities in Texas. Texas is a large state and these people have plenty of places to hide so they can bask in their ignorance, but the people who don't hide away in shitty small towns are not like this. I hate all of these people. They make us look bad. Even though I am a Libertarian, I don't necessarily hate all Republicans (as long as they act right), but I do hate all of these religious xenophobic redneck pieces of shit.

Ever notice how the more right-wing a comment is, the worse the spelling, grammar, and punctuation become?

I have a better idea......nuke Texas!!!!

It is nothing more then a wasted piece of land where one would stick the enema nozzle to give the US an enema. Get rid of all those assholes and have a nice big parking space.

Have never meet a Texan that wasn't an asshole.

Landlords they have enough protections. So someone hates Spanish language channels then press that button on your TV and block the channel just like a parent blocks content even the nice ones. Now who is stupid and of course the radical supports of Greg Abbott who I believe supports the sameone who says Mexicans don't need to be educated and of course how will a child learn English. Now the dumb and stupid Abbott supporters need to be expelled to a non English speaking country. Of course I went to college briefly and unlike the stupid punks who shout at Abbott who are mad because they have student debt. I like to see an Abbott radical supporter try to prove me wrong. Go ahead inbreds and racist you run the Republican Party the Party I once was loyal too untill this previous summer when I had enough of Abbott and Dewey and the birthers. The Texas GOP now dominated by mentally deranged loonytoons who bash female state senators who stand up. I'm now glad to be a Democrat and I have no shame. There are business minded Democrats who are also pro choice and mixed Choice and yes I do fit the mixed choice portion.

I'd question the sanity of anyone who would want to be the political leader of such a crowd of paranoid, hate-filled, bigoted, ignorant rednecks shown in this article.  The only positive thing that could happen if they kicked out everybody they don't agree with is that they'd quickly turn on each other.

If ignorance is bliss, these people are euphoric.

So you are attributing what random people posted on the internet to what a politician is supposedly going to do?  This is such a misleading and dishonest article.  Stick to writing about food, drinks, and events... your political opinions are GARBAGE.

@Lol_at_StupidMob

Regarding your self-declared "independent" status, the same is true for most Republicans.  Even as y'all repeat Republican party lines, contribute to Republican campaigns, and vote for Republican candidates, and attack Republicans; enemies - y'all just can't bring yourselves to admit that you're Republicans... not even when you cower behind Internet anonymity.

Personally, I don't fault you for that part..  I think you're right to be ashamed to be associated with the things you say and the folks you associate with.  If I were one of you, I too would be ashamed of myself.

@bvckvsThe members that you contend are representative based upon what valid statistical inference? Here's a similar unscientific contention that swings the other way. At least this one provides humor along with your requisite banality:

A blind man, a cripple, and a Democrat walk into a bar. God is sitting at the bar and feels saddened by their plight.

God touches the blind man and he suddenly regains his sight. God touches the cripple and he rises out of his wheelchair.

The Democrat says to God, "Whoa, God, don't touch me! I'm on disability!".

@SotiredofitallDid anyone suggest that the writers of Unfair Park actually post the link to the Greg Abbott crowdsource site so that the readers can judge for themselves whether or not the cherry picked comments are representative of the site as a whole, and are in turn able to judge the genuine or disingenuous nature the Unfair Park depiction?

@adeathlyaura

You shouldn't throw around that phrase "the majority of Texans" like that.

In truth, the majority of Texans live in the tribal regions, and are very much the way Gregg Abbott's crowdsource site shows them to be.

Liberals have only themselves to blame for that.  While Democrats were fighting for the right to abort their pregnancies and advocating birth control, the religious freaks and racists were breeding like cockroaches.

The solution, of course, is to disenfranchise Republicans - to make sure they get felony convictions and lose their right to vote in our elections.  Elsewise, future elections will continue to be successful for freaks like Abbott and Perry.

@avman88 Your comment says more about your character than that of residents of Texas.

Also, you live in Nowhere, Indiana, brag about your super-awesome 1991 truck, and have the vocabulary skills of a tween.

Google is awesome!

Then, there is the whole World of Warcraft addiction you have, and the fact that you tried to scam someone by selling an account, then issuing a chargeback.

Would you like to go further down the rabbit hole? There is plenty more to go around. The dating sites are especially hilarious.

@ragetweets Not sure if serious.

Of course, no one expects Abbott to literally take his cues from Facebook comments written by the batshit crazies in his base.  However, it is indicative of the type of people the GOP panders to these days.  They are no longer a party of measured reason; they've become the party of inflammatory, hateful, dog-whistling rhetoric where anyone who isn't an Ultra Conservative, Christian, Straight, White, Natural-born citizen of 'Merica (cue the Todd Snider tune) either hates America or wants to destroy America and turn it into Afghanistan.

bvckvs

@dingo

You underscore my point quite well - that while the Republican leadership keeps trying to portray the party as reasonable people, posters such as yourself prove them wrong - over and over and over again.

Even in posts like that one you made, in which you try so hard to contradict the public perception, y'all simply *cannot* conduct yourselves as decent, reasonable people.  Good behavior is just too antithetical to y'all's nature.

Sotiredofitall

@gabe48 @avman88 Actually, you're an illogical Texan.  Focusing on ad hominem attacks is logical fallacy.  Address the arguments, not the arguer.
It speaks volumes about you that you'd bother with such petty non-sense rather than addressing their point

bvckvs
bvckvs topcommenter

@dingo

That's what I'm talking about; and it again underscores my point quite well.

No matter how hard the Republican leadership tries to convince folks that y'all are good and decent people, Internet anonymity gives you fools the courage to prove them wrong.

dingo

@bvckvs @dingo What's not decent about a frigging joke, other than the fact that you can't take one?

The republicans I know are reasonable enough to know that you need a reasonable timeline to test software before you release it.

Instead your the leader that you follow blindly introduces a last minute change to deceive U.S. citizens on the actual costs of premiums despite his underlings' dire proclamations of outright system failure risk and now no-one will be able to put poor humpty together again. So sad.
