Jestin Joseph Tried to Shoot Up a Fort Worth McDonald's, But His Gun Wouldn't Fire, Police Say

There are a handful of possible explanations for what went down on Tuesday night at the McDonald's at 4800 South Freeway in Fort Worth. It may have been, as Sergeant Joe Loughman suggested to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, an act of divine intervention. Perhaps gun manufacturers developed a mind-reading anti-murder trigger lock and forgot to mention it. Most likely, it was pure, dumb luck.

Because police say that Jestin Anthony Joseph wanted to kill patrons and employees at the restaurant. It's just that his gun wouldn't let him.

Surveillance video reviewed by officers shows Joseph entering the restaurant at 9 p.m. and, after asking for a cup of water, circulating through the restaurant and demanding property from employees and patrons at gunpoint. Five times he aimed at his would-be victims point-blank and pulled the trigger, according to the Star-Telegram. Five times, nothing happened.

It's not as if his gun didn't work. In the midst of the robbery attempt, police say Joseph stepped outside and successfully fired into the air. Later, he squeezed off two shots at a passing car. Yet whenever he stepped back inside the restaurant, the gun refused to fire.

"I've never seen anything like that before," Sergeant Joe Loughman. "It must not have been their time to go."

Police arrested Joseph shortly after he left the restaurant, empty-handed. In his hometown of Allen, police told the Star-Telegram that Jones "seems to suffer from extreme paranoia." Joseph's mother offered a similar diagnosis.

"I know that same spirit that grabbed ahold of his dad and took his dad mentally, grabbed Jestin," she told the paper. "I could hear that with Jestin, in the things he was saying."

This dude had a death wish and was cheated. I would have loved for a legal, concealed carry gun owner to have been there to grant his wish.  Hopefully some prison justice will prevail.

Too bad nobody had a real gun to shoot back and put this guy out of his sickness misery. Tired of hearing about illness, hearing things, paranoia etc. If his gun had worked  - we'd be talking about 5 or more dead. For this criminal - a quick death sentence would be better than wasting state/taxpayer $$ for treatment and housing!

Those burgers are just as dangerous as a nut with a gun, just slower-acting. Thank goodness no patrons were armed, the guy could have been hurt.

We can actually hospitalize the mentally ill, guns would be a lot safer

Divine intervention in America's gun madness.  Every gun should malfunction.

No divine intervention, no luck, none of that, Pure and simple, gangsta's don't know guns as well as scared shitless liberals think they do.

So what you are saying is that if he had had a knife, he would have stabbed most of the McDonalds in the time he was haplessly trying to get the gun to work?

One more example of the failure in addressing the mental health issues afflicting so many people who end up in the news attacking their neighbors, family members or innocent bystanders, be it with guns or other means.

We need to prioritize getting them help, rather than throwing them into jail or leaving them out on the street.

Mind if I have some of your tasty beverage to wash this down with?

I had to go to the DMN to get a look at this guy, and now that I have, the answer for his failure is almost certainly the cheap ass gun he used.  There are a couple of manufactures of very low quality inexpensive guns that are very popular among the "urban" crowd.  Fortunately for the rest of us, they are utterly unreliable.

The divine intervention version of gun control seems to be very effective, but I'm not sure it's scalable.

 @Myrna.Minkoff-Katz I'm sure that if you are being stabbed to death in front of the cops, it will be a great relief if their guns malfunction.

Better yet.  A little flag should pop out that says "Boom".

@TexMarine

You have no fucking clue as to why. This Liberal has probably killed more living things than most Marine dipshits.

clearly in Tex's world black=gangsta, "pure and simple".

simple is as simple does.

@everlastingphelps Thank goodness murderers prefer guns, so we don't have to contend will all the drive-by stabbings, people getting caught in the cross-stabbings, people killed by stray knives coming through the window, the mass school stabbings, etc.

"stabbed most of the McDonalds"...would that be Ronald?

Ronald is big enough to defend himself, don't ya think?

@observist Even though I'm not for people control, that's the most clever thing I've read in some time. :)  I just wonder where the good guys were... oh, right, it's mcdonald's.

Ahhhhhhh. Poor thing. Did I touch a nerve? Too bad. I've seen the entire video* and read the witness statements; I know more about what went on in that mcdonalds than anyone at the DO and DMN and most likely anyone on this thread.And bragging on how many abortions you've been a part of is nothing to brag about tdkiosk. There's a difference between erasing your reproductive mistakes and actually have the intestinal fortitude to squeeze the trigger with a human in your sights. I'm sure you've done the former, but have no experience with the latter.

I love how you use me to hide your racism. Simple? if you had any idea what I do for a living, you'd be even more depressed than you already are. Now go fuck that pretty little bitch in your picture, coward.

@Myrna.Minkoff-Katz @everlastingphelps What is your survival method? Carrying some mace in your soon to be stolen purse?  Carrying a stun gun in your soon to be stolen purse? Carrying a cell phone with 911 on quick dial in your soon to be stolen purse?

@everlastingphelps

so your post in response to Observist's comments was to say what exactly?

show how instances of knives used in an attack/assault very rarely result in any loss of life?

apparently your link shows you are agreeing with Observist. odd the way you phrase that in your response.

mavdog
mavdog topcommenter

@everlastingphelps

according to your link of the Weekly Standard, they say about 1,000 knife crime victims per month, with an average of less than 3 fatalities per month.

Are you suggesting that these numbers are anywhere close to the ratio of deaths from attacks with a gun involved?

seriously? that is pretty ridiculous.
