When he drove through the Shadow Brook Apartments on Ferguson Road at 10:30 Thursday night, he dismissed Edward Jackson as just another bumbling rent-a-cop hiding behind a faux badge and uniform.

That was his second mistake. His first was playing his music too loud on Jackson's turf. His third, according to a report filed by Dallas police, was trying to run him down with his 15-year-old GMC van.

Jackson, a veteran security guard and former private investigator duly authorized by the state of Texas to carry a sidearm, hopped out of the path oncoming vehicle with an agility that belies his 58 years.

Jones, 37, gunned the engine and attempted to navigate out of the apartment complex, but here, too, Jackson used his fleetness of foot, and his superior knowledge of the terrain, to his advantage. He sprinted between buildings and cut the vehicle off as it was about to reach the exit.

This time, his request was less than cordial. He yelled at Jones to stop, then pulled his service weapon and aimed. The van stopped. Two passengers bailed and fled the complex on foot. Jones pulled into a parking spot and tried to walk away, but Jackson stopped and held him until police arrived.

Jones was arrested on a charge of public intoxication and aggravated assault of a security officer. He's currently in Lew Sterrett on a $25,000 bond.

Most logical citizens, key word is logical, dont want to hear your music anyway past a normal social distance.  It really is annoying when it rattles your windows and for some reason muthafucka and nigga are repeatedly  used every other 10 seconds

Why do you use the derogatory term "rent-a-cop"? Still trying to wow Gawker with your snarky libtardism so they will hire you?

There is one aspect of this story that really puzzles me:

Who drives a van, anymore?

Yoo bad more illegal decibel incidents are not caught/enforced.  I was stuck in gridlock listening to some guy BLARING Tchaikovsky's Overture of 1812.  Totally obnoxious.  Cannons  going off practically rattled my rear view mirror off.  Dang kids.

What if he would have shot someone, would that be the right amount of force, or just the threat of shooting someone?

Kudos to Edward Jackson.  He used exactly the right amount of force to control the situation.  All too often we would end up with the security guard either being run over or shooting someone.
