Polyamorous Father of Murdered Saginaw Girl Explains Why She Had Three Parents

Police still don't know who bound, gagged and murdered 6-year-old Alanna Gallagher, whose naked body was found wrapped in heavy plastic along a Saginaw street last week. Their road blocks and search warrants have so far turned up nothing conclusive.

In the meantime, the media now have a new, probably irrelevant matter to chew on: Alanna had three parents. Her obituary suggested as much, but it wasn't until yesterday afternoon that it became entirely clear what that meant.

Miles McDaniel, identified as Alanna's biological father, spoke with reporters as he left the Saginaw police station after several hours of questioning.

"Anybody who knows the family knows there are three parents in the family," McDaniel said, according to Fox 4. "Talk to school; talk to the church, talk to the dojo. Everybody knows." Or: "If anyone is interested, Google polyamory."

Do that and you'll find the term defined by Wikipedia as "the practice, desire, or acceptance of having more than one intimate relationship at a time with the knowledge and consent of everyone involved." In this case, McDaniel was in a relationship with Karl and Laura Gallagher, with whom he co-parented Alanna.

Unusual, to be sure, but McDaniel wanted to make clear that being polyamorous is not the same as being a murderer.

"I know there's always that suspicion -- I know the odds are high that it's a family member in this sort of situation," McDaniel told NBC 5. "I can say that anyone who knows our family knows better."

I'm just amazed that anyone would fuck him

My unfounded theory is that the non-biological father was bitter and wanted the girl out of the picture.

As a father to young kids, it breaks my heart every time I see a picture of this little girl. There is no punishment that our civilized society could dole out that would be hard enough on the bastard that did this. Prison and the death penalty are not severe enough. What kind of fucked up, sick, twisted person does shit like this?

Was she reported as missing?  Was there an Amber Alert?

Why dump her in the street?

Scum who rip off six-year olds normally hide the body.  They don't have a conscience.

Normally someone in the neighborhood or a friend who had been watching her, but the dumping indicates a spontaneous grab, nearby rape and murder then bag and abandon in the street.  No planning, unless there was malice toward the family involved.

Not the pattern of recidivist registered sex offenders.

Maybe a 1st time juvenile who lives in the neighborhood who panicked.

The poor, poor little girl.

On his best day I doubt David Lynch could come up with this kind of story line .

Heard this guy on the interview yesterday - from what he mentioned, it could not be anyone in the family. That means what - that is is probably someone from this "loving family". It is obvious from his comments that he was more worried about their 3-some than the little girl. She seems to have been neglected and left to play on her own. The dad just didnt sound believable!

@adam578 Careful, the "sex-positive" homosexual freakshow lobby will be on your case for making such homosexist statements.  No matter what the probabilities demonstrate.

@DirtyP1 Yeah, I can't even watch "entertainment" that features children being deliberately hurt.

@holmantx Or parents who intended to abuse but not kill her, then panicked when she didn't wake up.

@lzippitydoo

Gotta' agree, here. To me, he seemed far more worried about how people would perceive their living arrangements than with what had happened to the little girl.

This is a tragic story - that poor kid.

@Myrna.Minkoff-Katz Mormons = monogamy.  Mormons from 50-100 years ago and some breakout Mormon-affiliated groups = polygamy.  This couple = polyamory.  I'm having a tough time finding a true distinction other than to say that it looks like polygamy is male dominated and more about "marriage", where polyamory is not male dominated and focuses on "love" more than "marriage".

...off to shower in bleach now.

@roo_ster @adam578   Homophobe much?  Why would a homosexual be in a polyamorous relationship with a heterosexual couple?   Further, I see no place in Adam578's statement that referenced sexuality, it seems to be entirely in your head.  And finally it turns out that no family member was involved.

@ruddski McDaniel and Gallagher, two men and one woman.  Stop getting your information from seashells and your bigoted ignorance

@everlastingphelps @holmantx

I do not see the term "abuse", "abused" or "sexually abused" associated with her name on a search.

Remove the predator angle and that points toward your speculation.

A stranger would not abduct and murder then dump in the street a small child.  Either panic or someone making a statement.  Ritual, maybe?  It's going to have to be en loco parentis, or someone who wanted to inflict torment upon the family.  Malice.

@holmantx @everlastingphelps It's speculation based on the things seized in the search.  It's way, way too early to make actual accusations, but as long as we are speculating on limited info, let's speculate the shit out of it.

And let's not forget that 9 times out of 10, it's a parent or guardian.

@oakclifftownie @monstruss You could argue that the James - Donna - Laura/Maddy triangle in Twin Peaks was relatively polyamorous. (sorry, I've been on a weird David Lynch kick lately)
