Cowboys Wide Receiver Dwayne Harris Reveals His Weight-Loss Secret: Chasing Animals

Dwayne Harris doesn't typically get a lot of ink in the local sports press. The wide receiver, selected in the sixth round of the 2011 draft, didn't catch a pass in more than half the games he played last year, and his 222 receiving yards put him seventh on the team. Under normal circumstances, the average Cowboys beat writer would sooner write about the mechanics of Dez Bryant's sneeze.

These are not normal circumstances. This is training camp, when reporters descend like locusts on Oxnard, California, to devour every piece of Cowboys news they can find. You wind up learning a lot more about guys like Harris, most of which is excruciatingly boring. But sometimes, it's magical.

This was the case when ESPN Dallas' Todd Archer caught up with Harris today and asked how he'd dropped eight or nine pounds during the offseason.

"I'd just go out, man, and look for stuff to run after," Harris told him. "All kinds of stuff. Rabbits. Cats. Everything. Especially when I was back at home with my mom [in Stone Mountain, Georgia]. We live in the woods, so there was a lot of stuff running out there."

Polo, his 6-year-old pit bull, was his favorite quarry. "I'd chase after him because he doesn't want to come home," Harris said, adding. "He's not as quick as he used to be, but he's pretty fast. He can run straight ahead."

Like we said, magical.

Arya Stark: Tomorrow I'm going to be chasing cats. Eddard Stark: Cats? Syrio says... Arya Stark: He says every swordsman should study cats. They're as quiet as shadows and as light as feathers. You have to be quick to catch them. Eddard Stark: He's right about that.
