Jesse Ventura Is Super Serious About Suing Chris Kyle's Widow

Categories: Legal Battles

In his book American Sniper, under the heading "Punching Out Scruff Face," slain Navy SEAL Chris Kyle claimed that in a 2006 he got into a bar fight with "Scruff Face," a "celebrity" veteran. Kyle claimed the fight started because Scruff Face was insulting then-President George Bush, and then said Kyle "deserved to lose a few guys." Mr. Face, it turns out, is supposed to be Jesse "The Body" Ventura, former professional wrestler, Minnesota governor, Predator victim and current litigant. Ventura claims the fight never happened and brought a defamation suit against Kyle a year ago.

That was, of course, before Kyle was shot dead at a Texas gun range. Since then, there has been a national outpouring of sympathy for the murdered SEAL and his widow, Taya. Even Bill O'Reilly has gone out of his way to advise Ventura to drop the lawsuit, saying on air "If he wants to restore his reputation, then he should drop the case. That's how I feel, Jesse. I hope you got the message there."

But Ventura has chosen not to act on O'Reilly's counsel, and Monday his attorneys petitioned a federal judge to proceed in the lawsuit with Taya Kyle as the defendant, claiming, "Although Kyle is deceased, his 'American Sniper' book continues to sell and it is soon to be made into a movie."

In an interview with O'Reilly, Ventura said he doesn't feel uncomfortable suing Kyle's widow because her "insurance company is paying for the whole thing anyway." Taya Kyle claims that, while her insurance company is helping to pay for her legal fees, the restitution Ventura is after would come from her own estate.

"Continuing this action will serve no useful purpose, and likely will promote public perception of Jesse Ventura as someone who has little or no regard for the feelings and welfare of surviving family members of deceased war heroes," Kyle's attorney wrote in a statement.

That's lawyer for "Jesse Ventura is being a humongous dick."

Jesse Ventura is a liar, cheat, bully, and briber. He defrauded the people of Minnesota to become Governor by lying about being a Navy SEAL He was not a SEAL, never in Vietnam, never in combat. He does not have the Combat Action Ribbon. He was a storekeeper on a ship that passed the Vietnam coastline so he was entitled to the Vietnam Service Medal. No big deal there.

Ventura bribed a guy during the primary election in the summer of 1998 and when complaints were filed against him he bribed officials to fix the investigation. This is all documented in my expose' book, ALWAYS CHEAT The Philosophy of Jesse Ventura. The release of my book in the spring of 2002 cancelled Ventura's plans to run for a second term as Minnesota Governor. Contact me for a complimentary book or get one from Amazon.com

P.S. Why does Alex Jones keep lying about Ventura being a SEAL?

"...this action will serve no useful purpose, and likely will promote public perception of Jesse Ventura as someone who has little or no regard for the feelings and welfare of surviving family members of deceased war heroes,""

Funny claim from the wife of an assassin.  Her "hero" hubby killed without reflection or pause from a hidden perch.  That's cowardice compared to the Special Forces career of Jesse Ventura

Ventura has proven over the past few years that he either always was, or has become in his old age, nuttier than squirrel turds.

So let me get this straight. This guy has a tv show that's predicated upon "this might have happened" or "this did happen but we don't have enough proof" and is suing someone for something that he said didn't happen but Kyle said happened and there are other Seals that witnessed it. If I'm going by credibility alone, I'd have to go with Chris Kyle. Unless Ventura's show is just for fun, he's a lunatic.

This story upsets the Governor? Appearing on his own TV show and accusing the Air Force of causing Katrina and other hurricanes via a radar station in Alaska, driving into Area 51 looking for alien bodies, or doing his own investigation on how the CIA killed JFK using secret, shadowed sources (that no one else has uncovered) for on camera interviews, those things are ok. Personally I would trade one drunken scuffle in a bar for those dubious acts next to my name. He has made himself into a swaggering, loud mouth putz.

I used to respect Ventura. But, as time has gone by, he has gone further and further off the deep end. This just cements my opinion that he is an attention whore who needs to die in obscurity.

Last time I checked, there are no exceptions to the libel laws for war heroes.

Granted Mr. Kyle did some heroic and selfless deeds but that does not give license for libel.

This is clearly a case for the courts.

The only solution is to have a ThunderDome style tournament to see who is the largest excrement receptacle in America- two men enter, one man leave.

Avi Adelman vs. Fred Phelps

Jesse Ventura vs. Ted Nugent

Charles Manson vs. Nidal Hasan

David Berkowitz vs. Dennis Rader

@DirtyP1 The show's basis is that if Governor carried a wallet, it would say The BMF.  Every show has a scene where a flunkie says we have a story, but no one will go on record.  Then the Guv steps in and says, "Not good enough.  I'll make them talk."  The other variant "I know someone from my days in the dark world of special ops.  They'll talk to me."  When I saw the first episode I thought it was a parody of himself as The Rock does frequently.  I quickly realized a pod cast on HTML coding probably has a bigger sense of humor.

@MikeWestEast Yeah, under the common law there is a defense that the person's character is incapable of being defamed because it already too damaged to be damaged further.  You left out that he has claimed to be a member of the Mongols motorcycle club, admitted using steroids, and has had a room at a brothel named after him.

As for the book in question, Chris Kyle was giving all of his share to charity to help veterans.

@Tim.Covington He's not as bad as "Reporters" covering open meetings of classified activity as if they're actually reporting something.  The Gov officials CAN'T say anything of substance, but the whole media report it like it's gospel.  Ventura is more honest than our main stream media

@ThePosterFormerlyKnownasPaul Kyle is dead now, though.  Suing his "estate" is suing his wife and children who did not commit libel.

He should sue to have that part of the book deleted in future printings or something, but he should not to get money from them because it makes him look like a jerk.

@bealotcoolerifyoudid Remember, Manson was wrongfully convicted.  He didn't murder anyone, just told some wacked out chics to go murder someone/play in the freeway.  But, the fact is he was charged with murder, and yet there's not a scintilla of evidence that he was there.  He wasn't charged as an accessory to murder, but with murder.

@MikeWestEast @DirtyP1 yeah, it's like those fanciful claims that the NSA is recording all our calls.  You may wish to believe in fairy tales and the USG official cover story, when discussing classified info. officials are prohibited from disclosing anything truthful.  So, surely their accounts are the ones to put stock in.  The media covers their obfuscatory and dishonest statements as if they're based on anything.  You're the idiot who believes BS.

@bealotcoolerifyoudid @MikeWestEastAnd let’s not forget, Ventura's not really a SEAL; he was UDT and never actually was on a SEAL team. He left the Navy 8 years before UDT teams were absorbed by the SEAL teams.

@Honeybee @ThePosterFormerlyKnownasPaul If Chris Kyle was still alive, the suit would still be taking money from his wife and children if successful.  Not saying the suit should have ever been made, but the death of the writer/accused doesn't change that the claims were made and are included in a product for sale.
