The Wife of Eric Williams, Lead Suspect in Kaufman County Slayings, Has Been Charged with Murder [Updated]

Categories: Crime

Update, 1:05 p.m.: Authorities say Kim Williams has confessed. See update and the affidavit below.

Since he was arrested over the weekend, speculation has been that former Kaufman County Justice of the Peace Eric Williams would be indicted on capital murder charges at any second in the slayings of District Attorney Mike McLelland, his wife Cynthia, and assistant DA Mark Hasse.

That hasn't happened yet, but the case took an interesting turn early this morning when Williams' wife was arrested and booked into the Kaufman County jail. The Morning News reports that she is charged with one count of capital murder.

Details on her alleged role in the killings are scarce but she, like her husband, would seem to have ample motive. McLelland and Hasse were zealous in their prosecution of Eric Williams for allegedly stealing computer monitors from the county's IT department. That case led Williams to lose his job along with the health coverage the couple relied on.

Kim Williams testified at her husband's theft trial that she suffers from rheumatoid arthritis, Sjogren's syndrome and chronic fatigue syndrome.

Meanwhile, screenwriters across America wonder: Who owns the rights to this?

Update.: Now, following a press conference on the steps of the Kaufman County Courthouse, we learn that Kim Williams confessed to all three murders yesterday.

That's the word in the Williams arrest affidavit, which you'll find below. The affidavit is unclear about who she claims did the shooting, but it looks as if she told authorities that her husband pulled the trigger. (This paragraph has been updated from a previous version.)

The affidavit traces her motive to her husband's removal from office and says that both Hasse and McLelland began carrying guns out of fear that Eric Williams would come after them.

Kim Williams is being held in the Kaufman County jail on a $10 million bond.

Another assassination over there on people who were armed puts to rest the claim that defending one's life is the best reason to get the nation armed to the teeth. The Aryans are very easily able to get weapons of mass destruction at gun shows, then turn them on owners with legal gun ownership. Another solution must be found that doesn't involve more and more firearms.

Apparently, you have no clue as to what the term "weapons of mass destruction" refers. Are you actually claiming that Aryans have access to nuclear, biological and chemical weapons? If not, then go back to school and get some education. NOBODY who advocates for firearms ownership rights is arguing for possession of "weapons of mass destruction." Only a fool believes such b.s.

WHAT? I thought those murders were the work of Mexican drug cartel members. Who knew?

If her husband did the shooting could she have been part of the ruse that supposedly got the DAs wife to open the door?

Apparently she wasn't too fatigued to kill some people.

STOP THE PRESSES!!!

DMN is now reporting that Kim Williams said her husband did the shootings!

The affidavit is really unclear about who she says did the shooting, so we're trying to clarify that, but it does look like she's claiming he did the shooting. Sorry about the confusion.

So she's saying she did this because her husband lost his benefits. Just couldn't wait for Obamacare?

If she has all of the diseases they say she has, no way she pulled the trigger, three times. Sounds like she is protecting him or scared of something.

She must have been used to living in prison.

DMN has docs that say HE pulled the trigger.

I wonder if this is just another case of Texas law enforcement coercing a confession out of a suspect, which happens so often in Texas it is ridiculous. However since Craig Watkins became the DA here in Dallas, the trend is starting to turn around but we still have a long way to go and still need to be mindful of the propensity of law enforcement to rush to judgement without having the facts, like at first is was a white supremest group. I know there is unbelievable pressure for law enforcement to deliver criminals for the crimes they have committed, which I actually support, but a judicial system without integrity is just a good ole boys network.

But didn't you hear? The poor thing was suffering from "chronic fatigue syndrome". :|

She's covering for Eric. When Mark was killed there were two men that shot him.

Apparently the video from Chicken Express is a valuable piece of evidence, according to the DMN.

For all you sackless relativists whining about him being 'zealously prosectuted' that is what appeals are for. Not murder.

If there were any real evidence of misconduct he could have had his conviction over turned.

"zealous in their prosecution of Eric Williams for allegedly stealing computer monitors from the county's IT department."

Zealous? He was offered a plea to a misdemeanor and refused.

And "Allegedly?" He was caught on camera, tried and convicted. There is no allegedly about it.

@Clinton Curnutt me thinks that storage shed may contain all the evidence they need.  but your admonition is always a wise one.

@cantkeepthetruthdown "During Eric Williams’ trial, McLelland and Hasse portrayed him as a thief and a man with a violent streak. They pushed for him to be sent to prison. He was given probation, but the case is on appeal." ---Dallas Morning News

That sounds pretty zealous to Myrna.

@unclescrappy This one is important because the assassins are sending a message of terror to anyone investigating right-wing hate groups like the Aryan Brotherhood.

@cantkeepthetruthdown Absolutely not.  I said it was NOT the ABT, but probably someone with connections to people in government positions, which turned out to be true.

PS. I also said I may have been watching too many Daniel Craig movies.

@ScottsMerkin @Myrna.Minkoff-Katz @TheCredibleHulk so, how do you like those lactating breasts?  In my younger days it held some appeal, then when confronted with that very feature, I had no interest.  I understand that's quite common.  People are funny that way
