It's Cold in April, So Global Warming Must Be B.S., Say Humans

Categories: Weather

It's cold this morning. Not quite freezing like in New York, but it's 40 degrees. In North Texas. In late April. It's a little odd, a bit of a surprise.

Less surprising: That hordes of amateur scientists are using the temperature dip, combined with their finely honed powers of Holmesian deduction, to pick apart decades of painstaking climate research. (Just so we're clear, they're wrong.)

And this one got a retweet from Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott, who has previously expressed global warming skepticism:

Just wait until July and August, stupid global warming deniers. Once again, you will be damning anything and everything for it being 115 outside. The same people who forget it was 80 in January and the same people who forgot how much George W Bush sucked as a President not even 5 years ago.

Thought is was now "Climate Change"; "Global Warming" is old news

I'm waiting for a Gore/Trump cage match - gonna be a lot of slapping and scratching

You know it hit 80F on January 29th. Isn't that middle of winter? Oh dear, Mr Gore is right after all.

It's probably because the weight of the water behind the Three Gorges Dam on the Yangtze River has tilted the earth on its axis and thrown off its natural tilt so now all seasons will be ever so slightly altered.

It's not even called Global Warming anymore. Now it's called Global Climate Change. That way no matter what if anything ever happens, you can't say the climatologists were wrong. As a youth in the early 1970's, I recall being told in school that scientists were working to head off an impending New Ice Age that would kill every living thing on this planet. They wanted international cooperation to come up with a way to melt the polar ice caps. Good thing they didn't get very far with that...

Global warming was made up to support agenda 21.. though I do support taking care of the planet, the earth has always gone through periods of heating and cooling...

How is it any different than any time we see a bad storm that it is proof of global warming?  New York has one bad storm and they talking about spending billions on movable dikes.  What they need to move is all the electrical boards and motors out of the basement.  The supposed geniuses in urban planning put all the gear in the lowest point because they did not want to waste above ground space.  If they had it at second floor, that storm would have blown through without a problem except in wooded suburbs.

Same thing with people building on the shore.  We have a multi-decade lull, they build million dollar homes on the beach and the inevitable storm wipes them out.

I am not changing my lifestyle when we have poster children that don't know how or where to build to mitigate damage.

Climate might be changing, but I expect it will take a long time and the sun, the biggest heat source, is the likely culprit.  Let's do an Occam's Razor.  Who is more likely at fault:  a bunch of puny shaved apes that consider themselves movers of world or the gigantic nuclear engine generating more energy in a few milliseconds than the shaved apes generated in their entire history?

Over billions of years the Earth has warmed and cooled.  Mostly without the presence of Humans on the planet.  Any comment beyond that fact is just politics.

GLOBAL WARMING MAY NOT BE MAN MADE

Dr. Larry Vardiman (scientist and physicist) of the Institue for Creation Research says:

"One possible scenario may be found in a recent series of articles by Henrik Svensmark and Nigel Marsh, cosmic ray specialists from Denmark, who have shown an indirect connection between galactic cosmic ray (GCR) intensity and global temperature.7,8,9 They are studying the influence of the Sun on the flow of GCR to Earth. The Sun's changing sunspot activity influences the magnetosphere surrounding the Earth permitting more GCR to strike the Earth during high periods of activity.

When the Sun is active, the intensity of GCR striking the Earth is increased, causing more ionization in the atmosphere, creating more carbon-14, and possibly creating more cloud condensation nuclei (CCN). This increase in CCN, in turn, appears to create more low-level clouds which cool the Earth. When the Sun is quiet the GCR intensity striking the Earth is reduced, allowing the Earth to warm. Svensmark and Marsh have shown a striking statistical correlation between sunspot activity and global cooling and warming over the past 1000 years.

The recent rise in global temperature may partially be due to current low solar activity supplemented by a recent increase in carbon dioxide concentration measured at Mauna Loa. The connection which still needs further study is the production of CCN and clouds by GCR."

There is a good deal of science showing that global warming is not mad made. Yes, we still should have pollution controls, as we already do, but not to the extreme because it will unnecessarily hurt business.

All three major global surface temperature reconstructions show that Earth has warmed since 1880.  Most of this warming has occurred since the 1970s, with the 20 warmest years having occurred since 1981 and with all 10 of the warmest years occurring in the past 12 years.  Even though the 2000s witnessed a solar output decline resulting in an unusually deep solar minimum in 2007-2009, surface temperatures continue to increase.

I read the entire thing.  My question to you is will you be intellectually honest and apply the same criteria to Al Gore?  If not, what do you cite as indication that Gore was, as you said "too dumb to make the decisions G dub did"?

What G dub decisions with good results are you referring to?

There are over 6 billion "puny shaved apes" generating tons of carbons in the atmosphere that was previously underground.

The sun isn't getting any warmer or closer to us.  But when we burn fossil fuels, we're reintroducing ancient sunlight into the atmosphere on top of the present sunlight.

Seems plausible to me.

@CornyDoggy @MikeWestEast but the data doesn't support global warming, the Earth hasn't warmed in 5 years.  We're in a cooling period.  What the "scientists" don't know are all the variables, hence, it's not yet science.  Global tilt and wobble, the distance from the sun, sun spots, sun cycles, ocean currents are all poorly understood.  I'm not anti-science, but science is a slow process, and all the variables have to be understood.  Since they have missed on all their projections, they're still getting it together.

Scruffygeist

@ScottsMerkin Perhaps both should try harder. Whitt will have to do that from the top sports station in Billings though.

Look, it was a fools choice either way. I'm not going to argue that George Bush was a great president, or even an average president, but I am certain Al Gore would have been much worse, I would say Jimmy Carter caliber. And some day in my lifetime, I hope democrats will stop whining about disoriented Florida voters who can't figure out a butterfly ballot or how to punch out a chad.

That doesn't sound like him saying HE invented the internet.  Did you read the rest of the dialogue where he explains that the Congressional committees he was on and policies he sponsored resulted in the creation of what we know as the internet?

How about the fact that 2 "fathers of the internet" defended him in this enlightening piece?
