The headline summarizes what we know at this point pretty well. According to Fox 4, the man you see abandoning his car in the picture above shot and killed his girlfriend and unborn child today in the 12300 block of Hoblitzelle Drive in the Hamilton Park neighborhood of Northeast Dallas. Then, he ran.

The news helicopters caught up at I-30 and Ferguson Road as police chased him west toward downtown. No word yet on whether he got to that point by taking LBJ or, less likely, some East Dallas backstreets. Officers mostly hung back as he weaved through traffic and took I-345 over Deep Ellum and onto Central Expressway, throwing things out the window and firing a gun on at least one occasion.

An as-yet-unidentified Dallas police officer was shot in the stomach and taken to the hospital. He was wearing a bulletproof vest, though, and is expected to recover.

The shooter exited Central at NorthPark and took the service road to Walnut Hill. He turned east and looped around a bit before going north on Greenville and winding in Hamilton Park, two blocks from where he started. He abandoned the car and ran into a home on Galva Drive, which SWAT officers have surrounded. Hamilton Park Elementary (my alma mater) is currently on lockdown.

Update at 3:08 p.m.: Dallas police have identified the woman as Breshauana Jackson, who turned 28 on Saturday, and confirmed that she and the fetus are dead. They fill in a bit of the details on what led up to the chase:

Approximately 10:15 a.m. officers responded to a shooting call at 12300 Hoblitzelle Dr. Upon arrival, they saw a pregnant female who was shot. A witness inside of the location heard the complainant yell out the name of the suspect who shot her. The witness looked out of the window of the residence and observed the suspect driving away from the location. A description of the suspect's vehicle was transmitted over the radio. At approximately 11:53 a.m., officers observed the suspect driving and attempted to stop him. The suspect refused to stop and a vehicle chase ensued. In the 12000 block of Bellafonte the suspect shot at officers who were pursuing him. Officer Daniel Malouf, #9458, sustained one gunshot wound to the lower abdomen. Officer Malouf was transported to Medical City Hospital in Dallas in good condition. He is expected to be released soon.

There were so many cops there that you could have done anything in D at that time, and skated.  A ridiculous circus for one guy in a house.

Hopefully the animal that murdered his pregnant girlfriend and her baby doesn't get to hurt anyone else.  The capacity of some for evil is just numbing.

@cantkeepthetruthdown More important--why are Neanderthal crackers allowed to  breed, and then post?

@cantkeepthetruthdown Well, THAT didn't take long. But I was thinking you'd say something about Hamilton Park being a dangerous, high-crime black neighborhood. This is much better, though, more direct.

@Bobtex Yes, because speech you disagree with is anything like murder. You're a spineless moral relativist murder apologist faggot.

@cantkeepthetruthdown No,truthdown. Murder would require you to get off your sorry ass and actually do something, even if despicable. Blog-barking under a pseudonym means you're just one more mindless bigot, without honor or huevos.
