Navy SEAL Chris Kyle may have been killed on an Erath County gun range on February 2, but he will live on indefinitely as a life-sized, 6-and-a-half-foot-tall bronze statute.

A clay version of the statue arrived in North Texas today flanked by Patriot Guard riders, who typically show up only at soldiers' funerals, and was promptly taken by Florida-based sculptor Greg Marra to an "undisclosed location at a North Texas foundry," according to NBC 5.

"I believe Chris Kyle suffered and was murdered, but I'll be darned if we're going to let it go down just like that," Marra told the station. "Now he's coming back even stronger. His message is even stronger now and the bad guys, they may have won a battle but they're not going to win the war and if there's anything I can do with my hands and some clay and that is to resurrect, in a sense, the spirit of a warrior who sacrificed everything for us, then I do that."

This is familiar territory for Marra, who refers to himself on his website as "America's Sculptor" and has dedicated his career "towards the pursuit of classical historical statuary to honor the United States of America, and promote her greatness worldwide."

As for the Kyle statue, Marra told a Florida news station, that "it's the least I can do with my hands and some clay and some tools to honor them, and it's my way of giving back to the country. To them."

The base should have him standing on the bones of his victims.

Looks like every Republican's worst nightmare: a brown man with a gun.

Only three guns? How are we to know that this person that killed dozens with guns before being gunned down at a gun range after dedicating his life to helping people with mental issues shot more guns really, really loved guns when he is depicted with only three guns?

Most veterans and those who engaged in combat prefer to stay out of the limelight, at least the ones I know anyway.  I prefer to place my respect on those veterans.  Chris Kyle was all about money and fame in my eyes.  I have no interest in seeing a statue or reading a book about this man.

Funny, are damaged soldiers the "bad guys?"  I guess that makes the military and our Machiavellian machinations the root cause of all evil.  I suppose that really lends credence to Iran's claim that we're the great Satan (deceiver, would be the best translation of Satan in the Islamic usage, they don't subscribe to an evil demigod like Christians)  After all, Iraq was a case of lies, and it led to the PTSD that killed him.

In combat, the best solution to a sniper is a counter-sniper.

He was the best.

@observist another race baiting hater.  The GOP freed the slaves, the KKK was part of the Democratic party, or which the later senator Robert Byrd who was a Democrat.  See the you talk about things that you know nothing of, try getting the facts and a mind of your own. not just what the idiots around you think have a mind of your own...This man who got killed was a good man who fought for his country, for weasels like you can have a voice, show some respect

@1dailyreader Would that not apply to Sgt. York, Audi Murphy, et al?

Who is Sgt. Carlos "Whitefeather" Hathcock?  He is a legend in some circles.  He wrote a book.  Did he profit from death?

@holmantx If he ever shot another sniper, he didn't mention it in his best-selling book.  He says a lot, though, about killing a desperate woman who, after seeing the Americans slaughter her family, strapped on a suicide vest and walked her toddler onto the battlefield.

If you HONESTLY want to honor his memory, don't make stories up to deify him.  He was a man; not a God.

@holmantx I'm just tired of seeing all the adulation placed on one man when so many others have done as much or more than this man.  These days, it's common to say to a veteran "thank you for your service".  It seems like we are finally appreciating what all service members have done for this country.  Some have made the greatest sacrifice in combat and others continue to do good work helping other veterans every day without any expectations of statues or recognition.  It's all done without self promotion.

Your ignorant rants notwithstanding.

What an irrational, pointless, and off-topic tantrum, you threw.  That happens a lot when militant extremists try to voice an opinion.
