Listeners tuning into ESPN Radio 103.3 this morning and expecting Ben Rogers and Jeff Wade's irreverent local sports commentary were instead greeted with the nationally syndicated blather of Colin Cowherd. Hosts of the morning-drive Ben and Skin Show, Rogers and Wade Tweeted over the weekend that they didn't re-sign with ESPN and were headed into the radio wilderness.

The station has not yet commented on the fate of the Ben & Skin Show, though it has purged its page from the ESPN Dallas website.

Here's Rogers making the announcement on Twitter:

We have a call and email into the station for comment and have invited Wade and Rogers to do the same.

Thank God Ben and Skin are gone....If I had to listen to that stupid intro another morning I was going to puke.

I keep hearing all these people talk about how great the Ticket is but I live in freakin' Garland and can't get a decent signal from them. So I flip between ESPN and Fan and they're both decent I guess

Lately they've been too in your face, trying to be cowherd lite, and landry is an arrogant jerk. But they could go back to the Fan. That station is completely void of talent, top to bottom. (except for Sybill, who on her worst day, is 10 times better than that fraud jasmine.) Also, fitzsimmons (another arrogant jerk) is utterly incapable of hosting his own show. He and everyone at the Fan, (except sybill, of course) should leave radio forever. They can't touch the Ticket.

Ben and Skin are the only thing even barely palatable at ESPN Dallas......even THE FAN is better than local ESPN, and The Fan sucks +ss.

ps-I'm sure The Ticket can find a spot for them.

So that's 3 stations they've been at in the last 4-5 years?  Where do you go to from there?

@leeeeeeeeee
Who cares, just as long as they're gone... Now if they can do something about getting rid of Ian Fitzsimmons and Stretch Smith on GAC, ESPN might be listenable...

Do you mean "resign" as in leaving employment by giving a termination notice to the employer; or, "re - sign" as in signing a continuation option of their original employment contract?

What is this radio, you speak of?

If the brain trust at The Fan were smart (which it does not appear they are) they would replace rage with Ben and Skin. If Greggo is gone that show will suck even more than it already does. Whitt's 15 minutes has lasted far to long.

They were already at the Fan and they got dumped.  Why would they go back to that?

Huh. That crap is still on the air? I had no idea. This city has three radio stations worth a damn: KTCK, KERA, and KKXT.

@SuperfuzzBigmuff So I don't really listen to this show, because I'm finding myself less and less interested in sports. But if you're a big, obsessed Dallas sports fan, isn't it at least relevant? They book good guests, don't they?

I often listen to the Ticket in the morning. And I like it. But they don't really talk about sports the way an obsessed sports fan wants nowadays, do they?

@joe.tone See, the fact they don't obsessively talk sports is exactly whythe Ticket has such high ratings. It's the end of February-the Mavs suck, the Stars are mediocre, The Cowboys are two months from just the draft and the Rangers a month from a real game. So Ticket hosts make mention of each, but spend most of their shows doing bits or just bullshitting about the news of the day.

They are out of options - they left the Ticket to go to the Fan - who dumped them and that is how they ended up at ESPN.  Now what are they going to do.

Greggo is also about out of options   Fired from the Ticket due to drugs.  Fired from ESPN due to drugs.  Now missing from the Fan and probably back in rehab.  Some people never learn.

If the big money owners of the Fan or ESPN were smart, they would just buy the Ticket and switch them to their frequency. That would be easier than trying the crap they are doing now.

@WatchingSouthDetroit

The problem with your idea is that, except when Norm is on, The Ticket has morphed into a moronic radio version of Boys Behaving Badly, instead of an actual sports radio station.

But the fact that they have by far the highest ratings of the 3 stations shows that the audience likes them.  Hardcore sports all the time bores me and apparently many others - into a coma.

It's always good to decline an offer when you have no one else who wants you.  Ask the Hostess union workers how that has worked out for them!
