Trevis Henderson
Late Sunday night, at 10:37 p.m., 911 operator received a call from a storage facility on Willowbrook Road, a dilapidated stretch of office and warehouse space in Northwest Dallas. The caller, 22-year-old Trevis Henderson, said he was in a fight with two men who said he owed them money. The operator could hear Henderson attempting to crawl away as he tried to fight the men off before the phone was disconnected. By the time police arrived, the area was deserted.

The next day, Henderson was found dead of an apparent gunshot wound in Rochester Park, a large swath of green space along the Trinity River in South Dallas. It took police all of a day to piece together how he wound up there. The first clue had come Sunday night when, just seven minutes before Henderson's brief 911 call, a witness walking to work spotted him at an IHOP on nearby Stemmons Trail, being forced into a dark-colored SUV. She even got the license plate number.

Police tracked the car to an apartment complex, where a detective saw Jeremie Terell Newsom, 26, drive it into the parking lot. According to an arrest affidavit, Newsom went with the detective to police headquarters, where he admitted that he and two other men, 34-year-old,Laquan Devondray Hughes and a heavyset white guy, had kidnapped Henderson, who owed them money. Hughes, who was driving, carried a shotgun, the white guy a pistol.

Newsom is being held in Dallas County jail on a charge of aggravated kidnapping. Police are searching for Hughes on the same charge. Neither man has been charged with murder -- at least not yet.

Update at 3:47 p.m.: Dallas police send word this afternoon that Hughes has been arrested, also on a charge of aggravated kidnapping, but that police are still looking for the heavyset white guy, who's been ID'd as 40-year-old David Langston.

I am horrified beyond belief that anyone would dare say such things about anyone who left us by such violent means.

Trevis was a lost child... 22 isn't a man... he was just a lost little boy. I loved that kid. I took him under my wing and did my best to lend him a listening ear and shoulder of support. He was just a kid trying to find himself. He wanted so much to be a man... he wanted so much to make others believe in him. I wanted so much for him to believe in himself.

I hired him to work a construction site with me last year... he really saved me. That kid had talent and skill. The job site was the one place he didn't seem to overcompensate to prove himself. He didn't need to. Trevis had heart. He was born to build.

The last year of his life, every time I spoke to him, he was sober. It wasn't a drug debt... sometimes leaving drugs behind is easier than the people, places, and things associated with the lifestyle. Recovery is a lonely road. Trevis had courage. Courage didn't put fifty dollars in his hand when he needed it, the humility of recycling a life left behind because there was nowhere else to turn did.

Let me reiterate. Trevis was a good kid. Shame on those of you who would slight his memory.

Why does it matter if this man had money (or didn't), what his name was, who he hung out with or what he was in to? This was a very tragic event and a young man lost his life. We shouldn't make outrageous conjectures about someone we don't know. If you can't say anything nice, then don't say anything at all. I'm glad they found these men and they will have to answer for their actions. My condolences to Trevis' family. You have my deepest sympathies and will be in my prayers.

This is Trevis mother and before you want to comment on the death of a person maybe you should stop and yhink of how you will make their parents or loved ones feel. God had plans for Trevis when he was put here and he has done as such or god would of not of let his life be taken from him. CAN YOU ANY OF YOU SAY THE SAME FOR YOUR SELF. NO you can or you would be in heaven with him.

I guess Trevis thought his oddball name would give him street cred with Laquan Devondray and Jeremie Terell. Too bad his mother didn't stick a whimsical apostrophe somewhere in there. Btw, my theory is that the black penchant for naming their children so strangely is a remnant of the Deep South plantation owner and white sharecropper custom. They came up with some real doozies.

At least the family of the deceased can take comfort in the quick recovery of the victim and the arrests of suspects. Had this occurred another 500 feet on the back side of the levee, the victim most likely would never have been found.

Saw article announce Trevis Henderson's name like he's somebody I should already know, and the picture of him riding in a helicopter, assumed he was somebody I should already know about.  Read article, determined he's actually just a really rich kid, and it sounds like he tried to play around with drug dealering.  I don't know who this guy is or why I should want to be reading an article about him.

If they allegedly killed the one guy over money

What on earth is going to happen to Jeremie Terell Newsom for being a tattle-tale ?

And as one of the BIGGEST asses on this site, EVEN I was amazed at how you folks poked at the mother in her time of anguish....shame on you all!  Not funny.

Sure we all can pass judgments and aspersions on this young guy; maybe he just made a mistake?

ps-FYI, I was immediately thrown off by some of the "loose" grammar and spelling in these posts.........just saying.

@susieque778 a word of advice, In a time of personal tragedy or, its probably best to NOT go to the comments section of the story about it.  People are not nice and you shouldn't subject yourself to that mess.

@oakclifftownie It would appear that misspelling your child's first name dooms him to a lengthy prison sentence.  But for the record, the Asian participant's name was not misspelled: "Laquan Devondray" is a perfectly standard transliteration from Mandarin meaning "incautious tiger with ally who barks."

susieque778

@kergo1spaceship @maverick2980 thank you very much for the support he was a good kid that wanted to take life by the horns and learn from it. He was so young and so very bright. I am sure i have made several errors and misspellings in my comments i wad so distort by stuff that people automatically want to accuse him of i couldn't think stright. Reply via a phone and thru teared up eyes didn't help.

@ScottsMerkin tku that is very good advise. I came on here to read the story of what the police were doing. Before this all this i didnt know anything about this site and never dreamed people would assume the worse of a person who they never meet. Its sad that people can be so judgemental of the departed.

@CrackerDaddy @Vndallas no he barrowed money from someone that was suppose to br a friend and couldnt pay it back when they demanded it so they killed him over $50.00 there were no drugs this has been proven tku Trevis mother

@oakclifftownie

Susie,

I sincerely apologize for goofing on your son's name. I'm sorry for your loss. For what it's worth, just about everybody tries drugs when they're young -- that doesn't make a person bad or even a screw-up. If he really was killed over a $50 debt, that' just inconceivable to me. I assumed it was at least a few grand.

At least his killers will be brought to justice, cold comfort though it be.

Hoe would you feel if it was ur child?
