TCU's Student Body President Might Get Impeached Over This Really Ugly Statue

Thanks to Sandy, Deadspin is a shadow of its normal self right now, but it's functioning well enough to direct our attention to a piece reported last week at TCU 360.

It seems there is a controversy simmering at the school over a bronze statue unveiled earlier this month at the student union. The piece of, er...art, dubbed SuperFrog, cost an astounding $50,000 and was paid for by student government without, it appears, going to the trouble to take a vote. The student body must now decide whether they are more offended by the abridgement of the democratic process or the statue itself.

I hate to admit it but the newest mascot is pretty dreadful.  That statue looks like a cartoon alien.   The sculpture reminds me of the Ronald McDonald bench statue at the Wal-Mart on South Hulen in Fort Worth.

Who was the artist? Is there any connection whatsoever between the artist and Student Body President Brent Folan. Just wondering.....

When you have an ugly mascot, and you make a bronze statue of it, why would you expect anything else but an ugly statue as the result?
