In January, under pressure from the city of Arlington and the state, Ryan Walker Grant agreed to close down Flashdancer Cabaret, one of the city's last remaining strip clubs. Grant agreed, but he wasn't happy about it. Almost immediately, he set about doing what any gent as classy as himself would do when confronted with an unfavorable decision by municipal government: he set out to kill Mayor Robert Cluck and a city councilman.

The plan must have seemed like a fantastic idea, so he contacted a guy he knew and told him "I really need somebody to take a vacation up here to do a job from down south, man." Subsequent conversations made clear that "do a job" meant "assassinate," for which Grant was willing to pay $10,000 per head. The guy wound up blabbing to the FBI, who arrested Grant after getting a recording of him planning the murder.

He was indicted in July on one count of murder for hire and one count of unlawfully transferring a firearm. He initially pleaded not guilty but today he changed his mind, pleading guilty to the murder-for-hire charge. He faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 28. He's been in jail since his April arrest.
