Cigarettes are addictive and, while they don't typically make people do crazy things the way, say, bath salts do, people often want them very badly. At least one of those people found their way to Smokers Choice, a discount smoke shop in Northeast Dallas this morning some time between 3 and 6 a.m.

The store was locked, so the person or persons smashed a hole in the brick wall with the sledgehammer and went inside, according to a police report. They made off with something on the order of $1,000 worth of cigarettes which, if my math is correct, is about 20 cartons or 4,000 cigarettes. The damage to the wall was about $3,000.

DPD spokesman Gerardo Monreal says the case will be assigned to a detective and that there are currently no suspects.

It is unlikely that nicotine addiction caused this person to do this. This person has probably already sold those cigarettes for $25-30 a carton to people ho knows and made a tidy profit on 15 minutes of work.
