What Does A "Playful" Gavel Grab Look Like, Anyway? John Wiley Price's YouTube Channel Is Here To Show Us.

The folks over at the Morning News' City Hall blog alerted the world yesterday to County Commissioner John Wiley Price's Youtube channel, namely a video in which he calls out the "mainstream media" for running a "character assassination on our Black elected officials." He's not talking about the reporting many news outlets, including us, have done on the still somewhat murky FBI investigation against him. Rather, he's referring to the issue of gavel-grabbing.

At a July 3 County Commissioners meeting, during a very slightly heated discussion about spending, Price grabbed the gavel from County Judge Clay Jenkins' hand. Jenkins snatched it back, later telling KERA that the move "surprised" him.

"That's something that he and I will visit about," he said. "But the important thing is that we got back onto the issues, and that it did not devolve into personal attacks. We've got to remain focused on the issues and not the personalities here."

Price's video, titled "The incident that did not happen," says the whole thing was just a bit of light-hearted play between "two friendly county officials."

I have read the people in south Dallas who are defending the drug dealer who was killed by saying they have to do such things because there are no jobs. But these same people keep re-electing the same old "leaders" who do nothing for the community to improve or add jobs while enriching themselves.

The inland port project would have brought thousands of construction jobs and thousands of permanent jobs to the area. But JWP just sacrificed it as just another opportunity to enrich himself and his cronies. He tried to extort part ownership and no show, do nothing jobs in exchange for his support. He also apparently took money from the Perot people to kill the project and sold out his own constiuents.

But the people of south dallas keep re-electing people such as JWP, Eddie "scholarship money" Bernice Johnson, Don Hill, James Fantroy, Carolyn Davis, etc.. Then they complain how nothing improves. They don't understand that if the same old self serving, do nothing "leaders" keep coming back, nothing will ever improve.

JWP be'es what he be like. If he had done his "baby steps" walk in front of my vehicle then we would not be talking about him today except as a memory of the past. He does not serve his constituency well at all, and in fact holds them back. It is exactly what they deserve for electing such a self-serving blowhard to represent them. Most people have moved far beyond racism, but JWP is not one of them. To him, everything white is racist.

JWP Was just joshin' around when he broke that set worker's ankle too, and the windshield wiper incident, more of John's playfulness, and the woman was trying to run him over anyway.

About ten years ago on John's radio shpw, he was hot and bothered because the Winn-Dixie markets in black areas were filthy. Borken glass, crap all ober the place, not at all like the WinnDixes in white areas. He saw that as yet another way the black man gets the shaft, etc.

I called him and asked him a pretty simple question "what is the racial makeup of management and employes of the markets in these areas? He hung up on me.

Another time, he stated a "act about the Vietnam war that wasn't really a fact, so i called him to give him a web link to the actual facts. He hung up on me.

It was great radio show.

@Albert I am guessing that the broken glass and crap all over the place at the Winn Dixie stores in black areas was NOT caused by white people. Sadly, a few blacks give all blacks a bad time and a bad, undeserved name. I personally know that most blacks I have ever met are just like everybody else. They want a decent living, safe neighborhoods and a chance to live in peace without fear of crime. JWP does not want that for the black community because he fears they will "Tom" out on him and start assimilating into society, and in doing so bypass the need for people like him.

Perhaps the FBI investigation will finally allow the black community to move beyond JWP and his racist history to the betterment of the black community and the whole world.

If you really want to talk about people committing murder, then look no further than the number of people killed by Cheney/Bush/Rumsfeld/Wolfowitz in foreign wars based upon manufactured evidence. Far more people have been murdered under Republican Presidents by people who supported them than by Obama or any other Democrat supporters.
