Let's Hope Mike Miles Can Superintend Better Than He Can Dance

Note: Jump to the :35 mark for the dancing.

First, a question: why do people in leadership positions in Dallas feel its a good idea to dance in public? Because it's not. You would think they would have learned that after this video, which was apparently so embarrassing it was pulled from YouTube, but no. It didn't stop Mayor Mike, and it didn't stop new DISD superintendent Mike Miles.

He was welcoming teachers and other district employees to this morning's convocation -- the one many weren't thrilled about, and must have felt the need to make it entertaining. Whatever the case, you can see the results above as recorded by NBC 5.

I've definitely seen worse, but still. Can I go ahead and propose a blanket ban on dancing by public officials within the city of Dallas? Is that something we can all get behind? For the good of the city?

...and while MIles is dancing, custodians face a decrease in their salary, teachers have lost their jobs, schools have closed and communities like Jubilee Park are destroyed to place a parking lot in-between homes to rebuild the recenlty renovated, then demolished, then closed O.M. Roberts Elementary with 22 million of YOUR tax dollars.

Just the first of many Canine & Equine extravaganzas designed as a "Look here, at what we're doing! Pay no attention to those lying statistics!" until all of the goodwill has been replaced by animus and Miles & Co., pockets bulging, slink off to some other unsuspecting school district to fleece a new herd.

'Round and 'round we go.

Another flake hired by the citizens of Dallas. How many has there been now? What a joke.

When Dallas jumped Terrell Bolton two ranks and made him the Chief of Police for the sake of affirmative action, I  commented to some friends that Bolton would prove to be an titanic embarrassment to the city and the police department. It was no surprise when he was fired, basically for being incompetent. I get the same feeling about Mike Miles. His first act as superintendent was cleave and endear senior DISD staff to him through unjustified salaries and raises. I believe his act will play for about two years, then like Keyser Söze, he'll be gone.......

Dallas is so lucky to have Mike Miles to head DISD!

Excuse me!  I was prepared to think the worst of this man.  He seems sort of republicanish.  But, damn, he can dance!

Eric Nicholson, you are wrong. Wrong for your statements, wrong for sending frivolous irrelevant information to the public with regard to a serious godsend of a leader this city desperately needs. You should give serious thought to removing your erroneous and useless article about our new super.

@SlamminSammySnead Not only that, but the field house was very poorly designed.  To exit, you leave the building and have to cross a narrow bridge.  We had to wait over FIFTEEN MINUTES just to cross the bridge, while standing outside in the heat.  Talk about a bunch of sitting ducks for a disaster/terrorism/etc.

Meanwhile the central office people got a different exit and their comfy buses.

Most teachers were so tired and hot and windblown that they just went home instead of back to school.  My school was deserted after the convocation; it completely wasted our day.

Charter buses for Miles and entourage. Un-air conditioned school buses for the teachers. Perfect metaphor for Miles' administration.

How about a public information request for the job description of the aide for Miles who spent 2 years at Marsh at TFA before he received his current job for $105,000?

Exactly what does the aide do all day and what are his responsibilities? Miles is doing exactly what all Broad narcissists do--going through the public purse like the thieves they are. Broad trained superintendents have left bankrupt districts like Philadelphia, which is now being bought, everywhere they go because they are trained to be treated like messiahs instead of public servants.

These Dallas trustees have to be the most stupid critical mass of lobotomized idiots on the planet.

Quite funny..."jeneheffer"...grin, grin, get it. Some DISD teacher wins the award. Or is it one of those bright TFA recruits who are wondering why they are teaching 14 hours a day for squat while Lumphy and The Chosen One from Marsh pull in over a hundred grand a year for playing politics?

Jeneheffer. Yes, she looks just like a jeneheffer, bubble gum and all.

@Myrna.Minkoff-Katz Too bad the kids don't need a dancer.  They need a man of morals who doesn't rehire Shirley Ison-Newsome and then give her a $23,000 raise.  That's what the kids need.  Sad that you are impressed by nonsense.

Miles ran for the senate and lost in the democratic primaries twice in Colorado. His little Rocky show for the public today was all about his delusions of public office. Turn off the sound and watch the politician with his not so slick dance moves. Making 18,000 people pile into transport on the public's money to he could get the adulation he so desperately craves is well....pathetic. It has nothing to do with public education and everything to do with Miles' inner child screaming for attention.

Oh yeah, 'trevorteter' why don't you meet jeneheffer, get it. jeneheffer (renditions of Beavis and Butthead snorting in the background)

@trevorteter I so hope you are kidding.  We spent well over an hour going to Miles' hour-long convention.  Then we spent at least an hour getting back, getting dropped off  where our cars were parked, and heading back to our campuses.

I didn't disagree outright with anything MIles' said, but I don't listen to what people blab.  I watch what they do.

He pulled 10,000 teachers off campus to listen to him and watch "hero" movie clips (except for the Sound of Music one, which is one of his top faves).  He seems to have some sort of complex where he over-identifies with heroes in movies.  Movies can be moving and all, but they are not real.

He spent how much on gasoline for buses to bus 18,000 employees to hear him and clap for him?

He paid a relative handful of off-campus people $6 million.  Teachers got no raise.

He appointed someone with little to no HR experience to head HR and now we are 350+ teachers short on the campuses.

He's making us keep our classroom doors open, even though that will prove distracting to the kids and will affect their learning.

Our principals will spend untold hours observing every single teacher 15+  times.  Seriously?  How about they spend some of those hours getting rid of the teachers with obvious mental illness?

Blah, blah, blah.  And our stupid school board members were impressed.

@trevorteter The Observer might want to find another position for Eric, maybe filing or something equally important.

@bandito  @jeneheffer Teachers make a heck of a lot more money than a whole lot of people and get summer vacas, certainly more than I do. Regardless of the salary I still support the superintendent because DISD finally got someone competent.

Is this Jennifer Sprague's new paradigm of communication, the nationally known expert, Miles told us we had to accept?

So far it's Daisy Mae and Corn. This convocation was laughable and a huge waste of time. $185, 000 to arrange this?

What an insult.

@trevorteter Also, the first minute of his dancing was one thing.

But when the song ended and new song started and he kept dancing, it crossed over to "odd" and "awkward".

He had some funny lines.  Some of the clips were funny.  He doesn't seem to be evil or anything, but his platitudes and dancing aren't going to bring the middle class back to DISD.  And without the middle class, Dallas will wither.

Sorry, but just can't leave it alone: jenneheffer.

A heffer by any other name?

Awakening Beavis and Butthead takes quite a lot, but jenneheffer, the possibilities are endless in our time of the bubble popping sprague followed around the trustee board room by the horned dog known as .......oh, Tawnell. The wonders of technology and endless loops for endless laughs.

And jeneheffer....well, what can we say? If Eric wanted a high paying filing job in marcom, we've heard a blonde wig gets the superintendent dancing for sure. Maybe Eric could double his pay...jeneheffer...jeneheffer.

You really think minority parents are stupid? You think they are dumb enough to fall for this crap? You really think they are that dumb? You think these schools are what they want for their kids or what they have to settle for? Quit assuming all minority parents and students are as racist are you are.

 @LiberalsAreSoNaive  @DISDTeacher

Nahh, think DISDTeacher is referring to all the middle class who have loaded up and left. That's the reason those DISD schools in the southern sector are losing like one-third of their students. Ask middle class people of color where they send their kids--go ahead and ask. Then report back about your obsession with white people.
