A Month After Felony Conviction, Derick Evans No Longer a Constable

DerickEvans.jpg
Morning News reporter Jennifer Emily is tweeting that Judge Tracy Holmes has suspended Constable Derick Evans from office pending a decision on his appeal.

Evans was convicted of a felony count of engaging in organized crime. Typically, that's grounds for being removed from office, but Evans promptly appealed, and he was allowed to keep the position (though he wasn't barred from actually doing the job) pending the outcome of today's hearing.

Holmes did not select a replacement, saying the Dallas County Commissioner's Court will provide her with a list of candidates.
