Police Say This Guy Was Walking Around Downtown Waving an AK-47, Having Cocaine

Categories: Crime

Nguyen.jpg
Early this morning at about 3 a.m., passersby in a Main Street parking garage became concerned when they spotted a young man walking about, allegedly waving an AK-47 in the air. They called police who, as first reported by the Morning News, confirmed that, yes, there was indeed a man with an AK at that location.

They arrested 21-year-old Johnson Nguyen for disorderly conduct and displaying a firearm. Also, according to the arrest report, for possession of cocaine. Because as everyone knows, cocaine and assault weapons go so well together.

Police confiscated the AK, plus the 20 live rounds Nguyen was allegedly carrying. He was taken to Dallas County Jail.

There was another mass murder this morning in New Jersey committed by a crazed gun fetishist.  Guns kill people.

Not open carry only concealed. Texas has stupid gun laws.

Cocaine is just going to take a person down to some very dark places and eventually users get to confront the police, joblessness, homelessness, violence, lost of relationships, degradation. or death, it is just a matter of time. Nguyen, smart guy, is now in the system. Love to hear his regrets today!

Isn't walking around with a rifle or shotgun perfectly legal?

This is only the beginning.  The NRA and the nitwits that fetishize firearms are turning America into shooting gallery.  Murder and mayhem by gunfire will soon be the norm.

Love you Myrna, you got more balls than all these pasty, NRA-patsy white guys put together, but you're casting pearls before swine. How you gonna argue against fools who actually believe the NRA saves lives???

Of course, the escalating probability that they will be killed by their own firearms ( and probably by a member of their family ) truly reduces the attendance at the 'Darwin Awards Show.'

@Myrna.Minkoff-Katz Guns DO NOT kill people, People use 'guns' .too kill people. 30 years in the military I never ONCE saw a gun stand up, or laying down, or even in a rack, begin killing people without a human being pulling the trigger. Cars, baseball bats, knives, also kill, as can someone using a belt, wrench, shovel, pipe, I could go on.

Is that you David Duke? We had no idea you were still alive.

And are you still angry because you were born with a small white pecker?

Have you seen Faux News? You will love it!

It caters to 'challenged' white guys just like you.

@ScottsMerkin They're all real AK-47s, the difference is whether they are the full-auto military version of the AK, or the semi-automatic consumer version... In order to have the full-auto version, you would need to obtain a Class III license from the BATF, be active military/law enforcement, get to know someone in the cartels/black market or call up Eric Holder and his Fast & Furious team...

@Myrna.Minkoff-Katz hate to break it to ya, but you could ban guns and the people that do the mass shootings and murder and rape are still going to obtain guns to do the shootings they do

@Myrna.Minkoff-Katz You never let off the anti-gun rant, do you? You probably celebrate every mass shooting incident because it feeds your prejudice against guns in the hands of civilians and your support for the government to confiscate them.

@Myrna.Minkoff-Katz Did you ever notice the ethnic makeup of the vast majority of the gun-using criminals in Dallas?  BIG HINT:  They probably don't vote Republican and they usually have stolen guns.

@ScottsMerkin Fantastic.  Thank you.  So there is already a law on the books relating to his conduct.  What new law would have prevented his conduct?

@iwearblack  @ScottsMerkin I appreciate the other constraints to conversion; but, what about mechanical conversion?  I understand that is easier.  Wanna opine as to what they physical/mechanical differences are between the two?

@uhhuhyeah  @ScottsMerkin Well apparently the guy was in a mental or drug induced state where the laws, whatever they may be, weren't going the objects of his concern. Besides that, laws are meant to convey what type of conduct is deemed improper or unacceptable. Laws are not necessarily preventative in the way the that you seem to be implying. Rather, it's punishment, under certain utilitarian frameworks, that is intended to prevent conduct (by virtue of its application of the breaking of the laws). So, what type of punishment - had it been in place before his offense (to appease the ex post facto-ness of the Constitution) - would have prevented his conduct? Depending on his mental state, perhaps nothing. Or maybe the death penalty. Or stocks and pillories. Or public caning.
