The Dallas Morning News Produces Video Touting the Importance of The Dallas Morning News

The Dallas Morning News recently took some time from its very important schedule to film this slick little video declaring that "Journalism Lives." But not just any journalism. In fact, not any other journalism. Just the journalism of the Dallas Morning News, which is "the most important news source in this city, if not this state, if not this region," according to our old friend Robert Wilonsky, whose trademark blend of plaid and humility apparently remains intact.

It was just the first in a series of "Journalism Lives" videos, apparently. Here's the second:

Is it just me, or does this remind you of those ridiculous "Read a newspaper to your child every day" public service announcements from the Nineties? In other words, "We aren't going to change a thing, and we'll laugh in your face if you expect us to adapt with the times, so it's now time to guilt-trip you into a pity fuck."

I suspect if you look around this city you will find worse examples of a journalist making comprises in order to appease their employer's slant on reality.

Do people really think he would put something out there bashing his current employers? Really? At last count, he had a wife and kid to feed and keep clad in the hippest new styles. Kinda hard to do that from the unemployment line.

RW's current masters don't target the same audience his former masters do; is anyone surprised? Anyone who finds it hard to believe an employee will toe the company line is either on some really good illegal drugs, or needs to be on some pretty damn good prescription ones.

Did he specify which world? Clearly this is from an alternate reality where the DMN is still a vital news source and New York, London, Chicago, and Hong Kong were never founded.

@TimmyTyper has duly pointed out that Robert also refers to Dallas as the greatest city in the world, "by far." I'd put it at No. 3, tops. San Francisco, Rome, Dallas, New York, Paris.
