Justice, RIP
Three additional suspects were indicted yesterday for allegedly dousing a puppy in flammable liquid and lighting it on fire at a Pleasant Grove apartment complex in early April. The puppy, named Justice by people who rescued it, ultimately died from the burns that covered most of its body. Darius Ewing, 18, was previously arrested and awaits trial, scheduled for November.

Richard Anthony Valentine, 24, Darius Lamar Carey, 24, and Adrian Michael Ayers, 20, are charged with a third degree felony for using a deadly weapon while committing the offense, according to a release by the District Attorney's office. Valentine and Carey turned themselves in, and Ayers was already in custody for an unrelated offense. His arresting officer documented that he was involved in an aggravated assault, is a known gang member, and is a suspect in a handful of aggravated robberies.

Justice was found behind an air conditioning unit at a Pleasant Grove apartment complex on April 4. DFW Rescue Me, a local non-profit, stepped in to organize the puppy's veterinary care, but he died just over a week later. Supporters held a candlelight vigil, and the SPCA, which had been offering of $5,000 for information leading to an arrest, upped the reward to $25,000.

The three indictments arrests bring a bit more closure and hint that Justice's name will be a fitting one.

Good job DPD. Let's get these potential murders off the street.

I thought A1 was preferred by 4 out of 5 attack dogs.  If they're going to be raking it in off of pay-per-view, why not spring for the good stuff?

This one puppy had more value to society nd life in general than all 4 of these sub-human douche-bags. They should be coated in Hienz57 and have their knees and fingers all broken then left in a room full of hungry attack dogs. The pay per view rights alone would more than pay for all the court costs and even for the reward.

I have a feeling Mr. Ewing went states evidence on these three punks. I hope all of them do hard time for this crime, which is too good IMHO for the crime they committed..

Don't be too sure about "justice for Justice". Ayers was already in custody for one offense and the arrestin officer documented he was involved in aggravated assaults, aggravated robberies and a know gang member but was still on the street and able to burn a dog. Our justice system does not work.

Jason, His body was located in late May in the general vicinity / creek area, around Ennis where Aaron had said it would be. Before the year's out, I hope to have spoken with them both, as I have so, so many questions, now that my initial shock and horror is levelling out. Slightly.
