Justice receiving care for his burns.
The caretakers of the puppy who suffered third degree burns over most of his body were optimistic until the very end. But last night, Justice died after some of his wounds became infected and his condition worsened, according to a posting by DFW Rescue Me.

The dog was rescued in Pleasant Grove last week after someone found him badly burned outside an apartment complex. He had been covered in lighter fluid and set on fire. Whoever tortured the animal has not been arrested.

The dog was at Texas A&M receiving care when he passed away suddenly last night. Unfair Park spoke with Jonnie England, the Director of Animal Advocacy and Communications at Metroplex Animal Coalition, yesterday afternoon, when Justice seemed to be improving. "He had a better than 50-50 chance of making it ... they consider his condition stable," she said.

But England warned, "He's not out of the woods yet." She saw evidence of poor nutrition and other indicators that lead her to believe he was never well cared for. The animal likely suffered a difficult life, only to be followed by a terribly cruel death.

A police investigation continues, and a $5,000 reward is still being offered by the SPCA of Texas for information leading to the arrest of the people who burned, and ultimately killed, Justice.

What happened to the monster that did this?

Anyone who could harm an animal is sick. This is just the most disturbing thing any human being could do. This sick individual and whoever else participated in This act needs to be punished to the maximum. There's no forgiveness for this in my eyes. This needsTo be fought hard against this person and he needs to be doused in lighter fluid and have someone Toss a cigarette on him. Karma is a bitch and that's all I can say.

Such extreme cruelty to such an innocent being!  This is how every serial killer begins and do not fool yourself that this person would do it to you just as fast if he though he could get away with it.  This thing is broken beyond repair.  Just kill it and it!  A fast death is more than it deserves.

Rich or poor, young or old - there is NO excuse for inflicting such horrific acts on a living creature. People who are capable of such cruelty have a serious mental problem.

This is so sad a cruel I hope they find the low lifes that did this to this poor Puppy. They should be put away from people cause they are not people they are MONSTERS! They should have some one poor lighter fluid on them and set them on fire and watch as people set back and laugh at them........Animals are put on this earth to Love not to be torching devises

Studies have shown that the abuse and or killing of human beings begins with small animals and or pets. There seems to be an increase in the amount and severity of the abuse taking place across America. This is not the first time a group of thugs did this horrifying thing to a pup. In fact, this is the third such I have read about in about 6 months.

We had better start addressing the why anyone would think it is funny to set a living creature on fire and watch it burn. And this was a puppy for God sakes!!!

Marcus
Marcus

I agree ziggypop! It says alot about some one who could do something this cruel!  It's scarey that this was a group of teenagers, what the hell else are they capable of?! I believe there have been a couple of other stories that have been out there. Trooper was another dog rescued by Paws In The City that had chemicals dumped all over him and ended up with severe burns.. I wonder if these are all happening in the same area? Sad, I hope these people are caught

As horrible as this story has been to read, we needed to get upset and angry that any group of "people" could commit this act. Please continue to keep this story around until these evil criminals are brought to justice.

Marcus

I agree, we have to keep this out there, these people will keep doing this until they are caught.

It both saddens, then angers me that someone would hurt an innocent animal in this fashion..like I said this weekend, if the Dallas Co. DA has any stones, he'll make sure these SOBs are captured, tried, convicted and thrown in jail...True poetic justice would be to take these suspected individuals and string them up from the highest tree they can find in the county...

That being said, this thing reminds me of the same attitudes the "community" had about Micheal Vick when he was convicted and sent to jail, which is to say many don't hold the same values in equation when it comes to the life of a dog/cat. I just don't understand that, could someone from The Grove explain it to me please...

Its a sad place when psychotic people can get away with killing.  But to torture a defenseless animal goes beyond what is believable.  As I get older I have come to realize that the deterioration of church and family could be the reason for this "maniac" society.  People stand up for what is right, stand up to your children when they do wrong, its the only thing that can save us from more and more of these stories.

So, it's ok to hurt or kill the people who did this? Is that any different than a "right to lifer" killing a doctor who does abortions? I don't see a difference. Life is life. stop hating and do everything you can, every day, to not be like these twisted individuals. hating is not ok, no matter what your cause.

Cdsdob

I'm sorry, but some human beings have so much hate and evil in their hearts that there is no saving them. These individuals qualify. There aren't enough bad things in the world that could happen to these cretins.

I live on a ranch north of Tulsa Ok, and have a rescue dog myself. My pup and his brother & sisters were thrown over a bridge, falling 30feet into a river. The whole litter lived and the person/people were caught & prosecuted. Hearing about Justice broke my heart & tears to my eyes. I am thankfull that he was found by angels and was given a chance to know love, if only for a short time. I pray that the worthless, sorry excuses for human beings are caught and harshly prosecuted. "Justice" deserves justice.

My question is the following ....Why did we not just put this poor animal down instead of extending his suffering?  3rd degree burns! Poor thing but also poor judgement on the part of the  'saviours'. I want this $%^&*( heartless mofo who did this caught as well and fined 'till it hurts. Hitting these jerks in the wallet is the only thing that works

As you can see in the photo, the little dog was able to sit up and initially responded to his health care team with "kisses"-licks and wagging his tail.  They really believed that he had at least a 50/50 chance of survival.  When his condition worsened, he was transported to the best small animal hospital in Texas at A&M.  His eventual demise was largely because of the poor nutrition and neglect he suffered since being born only 4 months ago.The DFW Rescue  folks deserve a donation and thanks.  They were appreciated by the little guy ;probably the only human kindness he knew in his short life.

I would take the contract on these 'kids'.

These kids belong to a campus somewhere.

If you could get some student leaders from all the campuses in the area to make a crusade out of this, not only could you id these criminals but you could perhaps prevent further crimes.

The 90% of the kids who are fantastic can have a major impact.  ID them, brief them, and they will do the rest.

I know that Justice is with Jesus! I have prayed that if it be thy will that Justice would survive. However God needed an angel. We love Justice even though we have never met him. The people or kids that hurt Justice will have their's coming from Jesus. I love you Justice, and you will not be forgotten. I wish you had been mine. You would have received the love, care, and everything you needed. God Bless you knowing you are in Heaven.

Well, you would have the full force of the "politically correct" crowd demanding your arrest for "hate crimes" against the "poor disadvantaged youths" who were "confused" about torturing and maiming/killing defenseless creatures.

Well "Davy" we have all heard the "bleeding heart" defense. I think the "point" is, that we're not the one's with the "agenda".  The crowd in Pleasant Grove laughed while the dog was burning---I think that pretty much says  all  I need to know about those folks.  I just wonder how many more innocent kids and animals are abused over there that we don"t know about.

I did the same with my rescues, I was so heart broken for this little guy all I could do was be thankful that I was able to rescue a couple off cats in need. So sad that people would do this but WORSE that people stood around and watched.
