St. Patrick's Day on Greenville Avenue, By the Numbers: Just How Hammered Were You?

Categories: Crime, Events

The assailants were later arrested for having TOO KICK ASS OF A TIME, BRO.
Back in February, when the Greenville Avenue St. Patrick's Day Parade on was still on alleged life support, one of the rising costs cited by cash-strapped organizers was the police presence. A growing parade meant a growing need for cops on the streets, and that meant a parade budget that was nearing six figures, double what it had been just a few years prior.

Well, as we all know, Mark Cuban cleaned out his cup holder and the rest is history -- sloppy, drunken history. Because looking at this year's Dallas Police activity against last, Dallas kept all those cops a wee bit busier in 2012.

Here are the final numbers, with comparisons to the totals reported last year on Unfair Park.

DWI Arrests
2012: 37*
2011: 2

Public Intoxication Arrests
2012: 22
2011: 14

Felony Arrests
2012: 3
2011: None reported by police

Calls to police
2012: 27**
2011: 207

Parking Citations
2012: 215
2011: 339

Cars Towed
2012: 13
2011: 41

Food Trucks Not Up to Code
2012: 2
2011: Food trucks? In Dallas? In March 2011? What do you think this is, Portland?

*Police announced in advance that it would be a no-refusal weekend, but still, this is a mighty big gap. I've reached out to DPD for an explanation.

**This seems unlikely, unless DPD just said fuck it and didn't answer the phone all day. Checking on this, too.

I would like to know how much in tax revenue the city of Dallas took in on St.Patrick's Weekend. This is event is a Cash Cow for the city too, as it is for the bars, restaurants and hotels. A number of people who come to Dallas for this special event every year.

I don't go to the St. Pattys Day parade unless I feel like being hurt or arrested. Any other expectation is just careless.

Friend of a friend ended up at Baylor for 6 hours getting stitches on a massive gash in her leg caused by thrown beer bottle. Not all incidents are police-worthy. Let's get some hospital stats up in here. My other buds drank for 19 hours; surely as a city we are capable of at least a dozen alcohol poisonings.

No matter how many times you tell people not to drive up there and look for parking, there's always some idiots who drive there and take one of the spots in the Village apartment complex. Oh, and if youre reading this dude who parked in our spot and then took a leak in our bushes, I'm the guy who poured the cup of warm piss all over your windshield when you were at the parade.

I still haven't seen any numbers showing how many people actually attended this weekend.

You know why the party was so great this year? The parade's Grand Marshal was noted leprechaun Richie Whitt. He pooped all over those streets. The whole day was poop. Drinks. Chicks. Food. Animals. Poop everywhere for everyone.

Have a question. Streets are paid for by city taxpayers, (ie; owned by taxpayers). What gives neighborhoods the right to restrict parking to themselves? (or not at all)

Very selfish for 1 day a year. Admittedly a pain in the ass but it is too when fireworks are shot off on July 4th at the golf course across the street from me and everyone comes early for a good viewing spot and traffic stops their cars on the street to watch but we don't sic the cops on them.

Typical tight ass Dallas, always f--king up a good thing!

Very interesting that 2/3 of those arrested allowed voluntary breath analysis.  Wonder what that averages on refusal-allowed weekends?  (I would assume its much lower).  It would also be interesting to know how many total stops (arrests and releases) were made.

Reports from Avi that the neighbors are "too damn loud": 17...and that was in the first hour alone...;)

All in all, people behaved themselves this year..except the drunk middle-aged republicants in front of me on the corner of Greenville/University who cheered for the Ron Paul Pomeranian marchers and the Young Republicans...

Yeah, we have that in Richardson during July 4th, people park in our neighborhood to walk over to the park and watch fireworks. Last year a guy even put his lawnchair on our sidewalk, it's really not a big deal. Now I'm sure there'll be a reply to this about people pissing in yards and trash, etc. We're talking once, maybe twice a year. Get over it.

A lot of those streets were restricted to no parking on one side. If you have parking on both they turn into 1 way streets and people get stuck causing massive gridlock.

from the looks of avi's photos and his comments, he has a fetish for passed out chicks, horses and pigs

Were they arrested?

9 Blood Warrants, and 0 Mandatory Blood Analysis.  Why the hell do they want our blood so bad?  Even if you count the 6 Voluntary Blood Blood Analyses, that leaves 3 samples that were taken just cause they wanted it.

More than likely yes, but before they took them away, avi snapped photos/video, as he has a fetish for hot drunk chicks in handcuffs..;)

..and no, they let them stay in front of us the whole parade, even after one of the idiots spilled miller light on my wifes chair...real class...
