Eddie Bernice Johnson on Rick Perry: "I Don't Even Know This Governor Anymore"

Categories: Politics

Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson, who worked as a nurse before heading to Washington, dropped by Martin Bashir's show on MSNBC to denounce Governor Rick Perry's stance toward Planned Parenthood (and to call Rush Limbaugh "un-American".)

"I don't even know this governor anymore," the congresswoman says in the clip above. "I thought I did. I used to have some communication with him and we had some understanding. I don't know whether he's been hurt because he didn't get into the presidential candidacy or nomination or what's going on. But this is not the state to turn away these type of dollars for people who need it the most."

Maybe someone need to introduce a Viagra Bill to ensure men with high blood pressure or heart conditions  are not allow to get a prescription for the "pill". They should be advised by a committee of female politician on alternatives and natural  methods they could use. This is being done in Ohio and other states.

Did Perry stop telling EBJ about all the upcoming scholarship opportunities, so she could snatch them up for her grandchildren ahead of time? There are a bunch of those "for women only".

A little off topic...but I finally sat down the other night to watch that new show about "good christian bitches" and was surprised when I found out it was about some ladies living within the Park Cities bubble. I thought it was gonna be a story about Rick Perry and Robert Jeffress. Oh, well!

Maybe she should channel some of the scholarship money to women's health instead of to her relatives.

So even if the Governor produces the funds who has the facilities to do this ?

I'd submit that you never really knew Rick Perry if his current antics are surprising to you. You were just willfully ignoring what you didn't want to see or believe.

Doesn't know him?  If she was related to him the taxpayers would either be hiring him for a sham job or putting him through college.

Even Steve Blow opined on the stupidity of the Governor's and legislators' war on Planned Parenthood--likened it to cutting off one's nose to spite one's face.

Great Clip,

Thanks Congresswoman Johnson for standing up for Women's rights  and healthcare services. Governor Perry's attack on services like pap smears and mammograms is ridiculous and short sighted.

An interesting discussion is worth comment. I think that you must write much more on this topic, it may well not be a taboo subject but typically folks are not sufficient to speak on such topics. To the next. Cheers

I am not defending what Eddie did, but a little perspective is warranted -- the scholarship money was private and something like $25,000.  Heck the Governer screwed Texas taxpayer to the tune of $800,000 for security for his political foray.  And as to how much the banks screwed us, no one can count that high.  So maybe we should direct our outrage to the really big screws.

The churches! Of course, you have to follow their rules and regulations to get health care. And you can't have the pill!

He already has a taxpayer funded sham job, as well as a gated mansion, a pension, and who knows how many pet coyotes.

I don't know if I would call it short sighted. It's deliberate and part of a much broader agenda.
