Why, Yes, That's Jon Anderson at the Kessler

Categories: Music

Daniel opened up DC9 this morning with his thoughts about last night's intimate Tim DeLaughter-Jon Anderson two-fer at the Kessler, which really was something special -- so much so that DeLaughter and Anderson swapped emails by night's end for a down-the-road collaboration, to which Anderson refers toward the end of our end-of-set interview posted below (courtesy Jeff Liles). Before that, though, were the classic Yes songs interspersed with some lesser-known solo offerings and even a Jon and Vangelis hit. Above, of course, are two of The Immortals: "I've Seen All Good People" and "Roundabout."

The three epic Yes albums plus Thick as a Brick were the best of the prog-rock efforts in my book. I used to crank em up on the Pioneer Super Tuner in my car. One of my buds was always trying to shove the ELP Tarkus and Brain Salad into the cassette deck. Dark SIde of the Moon was good but I didn't really connect, maybe it was a bit too polished for a kid to rock out on.

Did Anderson acknowledge his role in helping start The Replacements?

PS/Blogjack - new 'Mats bio, "Trouble Boys...," penned by Bob Mehr, comes out August 2013.

This reminded me of the time my dad pretended he was a concert promoter. He arranged for and managed a show for his friend the real concert promoter in Struthers, Ohio in 1971 by Yes. http://www.flickr.com/photos/p...

Man, did he at least play "Lookin For Love"??  I know, wrong Jon Anderson..just wanted to see if anyone paying attention ;)

But, him and tim collaborating, that might be seriously cool...

Jon is short, so it's a two way height difference.

Robert is freakishly tall...like Ian Mahinmi tall, most of that is due to his huge brain full of useless bits of musical and film trivia ;)

He brought the house down with "Swingin'" and "Seminole Wind".

I'd suggest you subscribe to Kessler's email newsletter but I can't find a link to it on their website.... the newsletter keeps you up to date on upcoming events.

A tall drink of water, no doubt. But, uh, throw some Dallas history into that crazy mix.

Dammit, should've read the comments first...thought I was going to cute with a "Swingin" reference.
