Your Dallas Cowboys Commemorative Poster

Categories: Sports

We all knew it when we saw it, with 14 seconds to go in the first half and the Dallas Cowboys down 21-0 to the New York Giants: That Sunday Night Football shot of owner and general manager Jerry Jones, his head buried in his hands, would become the defining shot of an 8-8 season that felt much, much worse from the very first game. I snagged the screen grab, but our art director Alexander Flores added the finishing touches on this 2011-'12 season commemorative poster, suitable for framing in Terence Newman's bathroom.

If only Jerry would keep his nose out of the game and let the coaches do their jobs, maybe the boys would have a chance. Jerry is his own biggest problem.

Well, he is still showing off the Super Bowl ring. Anyone for Staubach and company buying the franchise. Worked for Dubya's bud, and new owner. Nolan. Some guys have class.

Always next year! It's just a game, a game I happen to love!

Jerry will own the team until HE WINS A CHAMPIONSHIP! The last 3 were won with the team that Jimmy Johnson built. And since Jerry is incompetent as a GM, and meddles with the coaching, he will NEVER win a Super Bowl. THEREFORE...We will keep watching this repeat until Jerry passes on, and Steven Jones or somebody eiher sells the team or hires a REAL GM!!!!!

Jerry is perhaps a great owner. But he is one of the worst GM's of ALL TIME! And his ego is apparently SOOOO BIG it not only can't fit in Jerry World, it can't see that he is a disasterous GM.

We are soooo screwed.

Back when the Mavericks sucked....you could hear crickets chirping in Reunion it was so empty.Back when the Rangers sucked....you could hear crickets chirping in the temple it was so empty. The Stars have sucked for the last few years.... and you can hear crickets chirping in AAC it is so empty.

It just amazes me how the Cowboys have been so exempt from this rule, since they have blown for damn near two decades.  For the life of me I can't figure out why people still give a shit.

Would someone please tell Emperor Jones that:  yes, he's the Emperor and; no, he doesn't have any clothes on.  No GM, no secondary, no internal drive for championships...just another NFL team whose only distinction is a passion for trading on old glory.  It's not getting old (that happened years ago), it's getting sad.  Thank God they moved to Arlington.

What a failure that was last night.  And on Norm's show the other day, Jerra said "no way" he replaces the GM.  Also, attendance is down at The Prairie Turd......really?  Who wouldn't want to watch an 8-8 team, with SUPER expensive seats?  And, it takes like three days to get out to that thing.  Good job Jerra!  You can yer "down in front" crowd-dude.

there really needs to be a grassroots led effort to overthrow the douchebag dictator owner/gm of the Cowboys.  Like Tom Hicks at Liverpool, he doesn't understand that he is only a steward of the team.  The maniac has gone unchecked long enough.

The cowboys are like a woman that was hot 15 years ago, she keeps changing her perfume, makeup and clothing thinking the next change is going to make her hot again, forgetting that *she* is no longer attractive.

Maybe one day will once again figure out the magical combination of working out and aesthetics crap to add to her outside to make her hot once again, but until she makes the hard decisions, we are left with a "I was hot 15 years ago old hag".

At least Texas high school championship finalist and Rose Bowl champion Andy Dalton made it into the NFL playoffs. I don't know whether to root for the Texans or the Dalton lead Bengals.

Don't worry Jerry. You only need to replace 70% of the team with better players at cheaper salaries. And with your history of drafting players with no talent, don't expect to get much help from your scouting department. Should be no problem. Thanks for ruining America's Team.

You underestimate Jerry if you think he just f'ed up the Cowboys. With him as the man that put in the salary cap, and leading the competition commitee that  gave use touch football in the passing game, he has ruined the game.I have to get ready now for the Fulham match. Down with the gunners

Great shot of his 16 year old Super Bowl ring. This team will never be better than mediocre until Jones gives up complete ownership of GM roles. But wait. As long as he is owner, even if he hires a GM, he owns the GM. Packers are America's Team.

Jerry got rid of the offensive line in 2 yrs. because of MONEY, higher salaries.

He now needs to get rid of that starting secondary, beginning with Terrence Newman. That guy couldn't cover a twin bed. His tackling skills are as bad as Deion's were. Next Brady James, Kieth Brookings & Spencer. Overhyped & Overpaid. Brady can't cover a tight end or a full size bed. Spencer will never be the so called QUIK Sack type guy like Ware. I felt for Ware & Ratliff up there bustin ass on every play & the LB's, & Secondary running around back there like they've never seen the opposing teams formations.. I mean they play the same teams, same plays yr. in & yr. out. As for Brookings his time has come to retire. To Slow & can't cover either. Most teams they're playing are young, fast & strong. Cowboys keep trying to recycle & JJ listens to his Son to much. Romo may have had his bad days but he got them double digit leads that the DEFENSE couldn't hold up. He was sacked 6 times by the Giants. Can't blame him for all those. That make shift O line is horrible. When you fall behind like the boys did, that D line is just going to tree off & go after your QB. had 1 fumble. Bet KC & Chicago would have taken Romo over what they had to throw in after QB's went out. I believe Jason Garrett will tell JJ to clean house like he did last yr. They need better Scouts out in the Fields.

It's fine to have that attitude. But if you're a season ticket holder take a long, hard look before you blindly renew or Jerry will never be motivated to change his status quo.

Jerry is a horrible owner because he can't see or won't accept that the person he has in place for multiple full-time positions can't possibly dedicate enough time to effectively execute them all.

Because a huge number of the attendees at Jerra World aren't paying for their seats.  The stockholders of the companies that they work for are paying for the seats.  Hey, let's go do bidness!!

The Dallas Cowboys wasn't bestowed on Jerry Jones or anyone else by the Great Almighty with the injunction to be a "steward."  Jerry bought the team from its previous owners.  While It would be nice if he was a better general manager, his ownership status allows him to run the business into the ground if it suits him.  One way to prevent this might be to make him a financial offer he can't refuse.

I got some end zone seats at Reliant I can let Jerry have if he wants to see a real defense play next week. Jerry don't have much else going on after his Hogs finish out their season Friday night.

I agree.  That's why I haven't bought any Cowboys-related gear, gone to any games, or done one of those stupid stadium tours everyone keeps talking about.  I'm not going to support them at all until Jerry Jones steps down.

Try to encounter some actual facts before you spout off, dumbass.  Here are a few tidbits to get you started:

1)  Nobody yet knows what the 2012 cap number will be.2)  Dallas is about $18MM under the cap for 2011, and under the new CBA that cushion rolls to 2012.  If the league cap for 2012 stays the same, Dallas' spending limit for 2012 will be about $138-139MM.  If the league cap goes up--and the best guess now is it will rise 4-5MM--Dallas can spend up to somewhere between 143 and 145.3)  Dallas has about $25MM in dead money right now for 2012.  Even with that $25MM, the current 2012 expenditure is right around $120MM.  If nobody renegotiates (unlikely, but redoing contracts can move the cap figure up or down) and the Cowboys fill out their roster with guys playing for the minimum (also unlikely) that number goes to about $124MM.4)  There are three or four high-priced players (e.g. Newman, Kitna) who are under contract for 2012 but are likely not to be around next summer.  Cutting those players would free up another $8-12MM.  If those players are on the 2012 roster, Dallas still has over $20MM available.

The analysis above is very simplistic, and the Cowboys aren't flush, but saying they're 20 million over the cap is just ignorant bullshit.

Idiots will always overpay-AND, that sanitized turd called Jerra World is a bad place to watch a football game. It's a good place to watch county rock dancin' shit (like Kenny Chesney), but a bad place to celebrate being a man.

so NFL.com doesn't have facts huh, Im sure they would like to know.  I love Rotoworld btw, for Fantasy sports, not for factual salary cap info on specific teams.  And just going in and adding players salaries up wont get you to the cap number.  You have to add in players cut after jun 1 of previous years and the signing bonus amortizations that accelerate to either that year or spread over the next 2 years, plus all other deffered player salaries, bonuses, cash compensation that have been pushed back from previous years.

Here is the available space of all 32 NFL teams coming into week 1 of the seasonhttp://blogs.nfl.com/2011/08/2...

Here is a nice place to start reading about the salary cap and how it works, (it proves you cant just add up player salaries in your fantasy world

Sigh.

You keep claiming I'm "Stephen jones" or a Jerry apologist because you spout bullshit.

Jerry mismanages the team.  See last year's 6-10 by an alleged Super Bowl contender and brutal end-of-year collapses in recent years as evidence.

Jerry sticks it to the fans every chance he gets.  He's a tool.

None of this changes the fact that your original "over the cap" comment was bullshit.  In your last comment you now state "[t]hey started the regular season 6 mil. under the cap".  Which is it?  20 million over or 6 million under?  Actually both are wrong, as five minutes with Google would tell you, but you now apparently agree with me that your original statement was bullshit.

It's good to see that you're progressing, though, and at least trying to argue with facts rather that engage solely in ad hominem attacks.

I'm pretty sure Rotoworld has salary info on every NFL player.  Go add 'em up.  I haven't done so, but several Cowboys bloggers have, and their informed information is what I repeated above.

20 million to work with to fill how many roster slots? Dividing that up doesn't lead to quality at many positions.

ScottsMerkin
ScottsMerkin

ok smart man, lets start with show your stats, where do you get them.  A cursory look @ nfl.com shows the cowboys stared the '11  nfl year at  16.6 million over the cap, they had to cut a bunch of players just to be able sign Free Sensabaugh Ball and others.  They stared the regular season 6 mil. under the cap, only bc they couldnt sign Nnamdi.  And while they may cut some more players to move cap hits around, they will also pay more for the others who stay on the roster next year.  I dont knwo if you are a Jerry apologist or what, but the whole world has had 15 years of watching Jerry during a salary cap era fail, and its obviously not working his way

Guesty McG
Guesty McG

Your comment said nothing about debt service or how much "he" can spend.  You stated the Cowboys are 20 million over the cap.  That was 100% bullshit.

And considering you have proven you know less than nothing about the Cowboys' payroll situation, I'd imagine you have just about the same level of knowledge with regard to Jerryworld's financials.

ScottsMerkin
ScottsMerkin

Steven jones? Anyhow, add in the debt service and note on the stadium and he will be spending less than you think. And he has ti sign his draft picks as well
