Tonight, At Least, The Omni Looks Mighty Pretty Reflected in the Trinity River

Like I need to tell you, even if there were no photo credit, this is a Justin Terveen photo -- one in a series of extraordinary photos of the rain-soaked city he's taken in the past 24 hours. This one was taken earlier this evening, just west of the Houston Street Viaduct: "dead-smack center in between Houston and 30," he says.

Justin's still out and about, making the city look stunning in the reflection of the Trinity River. He's moved to Sylvan now, then ... who knows where. "It's too good to pass up," he says. "The water's flat and glassy, with a nice reflection." More to come, he vows. "But nothing like what you see here." As always, the big'n is here, suitable for framing.

The Dallas skyline is starting to remind me of U2's stage from their PopMart tour. The city should transform Reunion Tower into a giant neon olive on a glowing swizzle stick and call it a day.
Another great shot from Justin. He's a great asset to our city and you may see his Elvis-esque Caddly plying the Deep Ellum/Expo Park area. He's a converted Frisco-ite for God's sake! None of the 'haters' have mentioned Museum Tower this time? Perhaps because it looks like a great addition to our skyline?
Why exactly do you care since it has already been determined that you don't even live in Dallas? What, the skyline of Plano, Allen, Frisco or whatever craphole burb you are from is so great? Oh wait..... Troll.

Pegasus is a classic symbol........ugly pixelated lights screens douchie shite! It screams Dallas is the LA of Mid America. No soul. Just giant tv screens. And, (like Seinfeld) what is Dallaseseesess's fascination with giant freakin' tv screens?
I want to see the Omni present a flying red horse actually flapping it's wings. And I'm not being sarcastic. Hell, I like the show biz part of the skyline. And if I didn't, I'd just look the other direction.
Looks like a cool city... I would like to visit it someday.

I do get it. I'm a very passionate student of Dallas history and can appreciate how Dallas has always wanted to light up its skyline, starting with the neon-red flying horse in the 1930s. I have no doubt that many people back then used the same adjectives for the red pegasus as many of you are using for the Omni hotel.
It's not going to be elevated, it's going to be on the surface between the levees and be flooded every now and then.

But you see the problem with THIS photo is that the lights of the hotel are not turned off. Kind of the whole point of the comments. No one is saying he's a bad photographer, obviously he's not. I've never seen a negative comment about him. As a footnote - can we please eliminate the word "hater" from the English language?
It's a beautiful skyline and an award-winning photograph. RELAX haters, the lights in the Omni can be TURNED OFF so consider that it's not the permanent photo-bomb you're making it out to be.

I always enjoy Terveen's photos and this one is no exception. However, that hotel is just garish and really detracts from this particular scene. They need to nix the rainbow of colors crap...it looks like something they'd fire up when hosting a Skittles convention.

Is this a joke? The pic looks great, EXCEPT for the Omni. The photo is distracting, confusing, and odd.
I fail to see how it looks "out of place" along with a giant lit ball and a neon green lined tower. Maybe they can frame it with taxpayer funded Omni 2 on the left.
Eyesore aside, is there any way we can nominate Justin for a photography Pulitzer? I realize the committee might not even give him consideration, but his outstanding work deserves some recognition.

Very nice shot, but also very telling. The reality is nice and clear. The reflection is a blurry image of the ‘world class city’ we keep getting touted.
We are not worthy of this artist. Simply the best. Anyone who can make the scary,drag queen of a hotel look good deserves respect. When is the gallery show?

Crop off about 15% from the right side of that pic and you've got a heck of a skyline photo.

Side note: regardless of continual attempts to make that thing a reality, I hope it never gets built. Nothing ruins a view like an elevated freeway.
Even my friends from out of state admit we have a helluva skyline. I remember driving in from Louisiana to visit family as a young kid along 80 and being giddy seeing Downtown glowing in the distance. That said, it is at its prettiest when the levies are filled and you view it from south of the river. On a(an) (un)related note, that looks like a great place to build a tollway.
The Omni makes a beautiful, classy skyline look like Vegas. And that makes me sad.

This is always a classic shot on those rare occasions when the levee is full, but the Omni sticks out like a sore thumb. It just looks out of place in the skyline
