So, Rick Perry's Quitting After All

rickperryandagunshop.jpg
So says CNN: "The Texas governor will make the announcement before the CNN debate in South Carolina." And Politico: "Texas Gov. Rick Perry is expected to end his presidential campaign Thursday and endorse Newt Gingrich." (Ooooh, speaking of.) A press conference has been scheduled for 10ish this morning, after which last-place-in-South-Carolina Rick Perry will shoot something, anything.

I hope the Texas Democratic Party and the Dallas County Democratic Party were taking notes!!!! All you have to do to eliminate Rick Perry from a campaign is to debate him. Dammmmmmmit, maybe if a few Democrats had called his bluff, used the word that fits: COWARD and embarrassed him into debating, we could have been spared all these years with him as governor. Iowa, New Hampshire and even South Carolina could see right through him. Why couldn't Texans?

You are right on the money!! I had friends calling me from other states asking me about him. I didn't know what to say. One friend said he should stay in the race for entertainment. lol

If I recall correctly, Perry has refused to take part in debates in Texas.

That should have told the yahoos that voted for him something.

Has Rick worked out a payment plan to reimburse the people of Texas for all the money we have spent out of the State Treasury during his run?

Crap!   I am no good at this at all.  I dont seem to understand much of anything and cant even figure out who is democrat and who is republican or who is going to vote for Obama this round!

What happened to Perry's comparing himself to the defenders at the Alamo?  Did they just turn tail and run when Santa Anna and his army began their fatal siege?

If Perry had been at his precious Alamo, there would have been no battle, because he would have quit rather than fight to the bitter (and fatal) end.  And we would have had no reason to remember the Alamo, just as we have no reason to remember Perry.

Unless you enjoy enjoy remembering failed efforts by failed men..

So how's he going to justify never being in Texas to actually act as our governor now?

Marc

Who cares how he justifies it as long as he stays away?

Darn it! I had Gov. Perry penciled in as the next Secretary of State in the Ron Paul administration. Quitters don't get the plums, unless they win a few primaries themselves and then make a deal with the winning candidate.

I think you're giving too much credit to anyone who would be stupid enough to support Perry in the first place.

I am sure that this epic disaster of a campaign will cause Rick Perry's ever thoughtful, rational, and conscientious supporters to take a step back and reexamine their entire worldview.

Can we use an old SuperBowl countdown clock to see when he starts to Blame the Liberal  Media ?

I'm sure all the rednecked republicans will welcome him back to Texas with open arms.

As a card carrying redneck Republican born and raised in Texas, I will unequivocally deny your assertion, sir.

We want him gone, but we also don't want a RINO  or a liberal as his replacement.

I'm sorry Dave I'll go take off my tye dyed t-shirt now and I promise to cut down on the pot smoking. I don't want you to hit me up side the head with one of your many large bags of money you have.

Anyone who uses the term "RINO" and uses the word "Liberal" as a pejorative voted for Rick Perry all 4 times, and deserves what they get. And don't try to deny it...

I wonder when someone is going to write a piece about the effects on his remaining tenure as Guv Goodhair and re-election prospects after embarrassing everyone who voted for him

I realize I'm beginning to sound like a broken record...

...but I'm still absolutely dumbfounded this clown actually received serious consideration for the presidency of the United States.

Marc

I grew up hearing that in the United States anybody could become president. After Reagan and Bush II I realize how true that statement was. But, after Bush II we surely were not about to have an aggie cheerleader sitting in the Oval Office unless he was an invited guest.

I don't know -- this photo just seems so ... so ... Rick. The blank stare and the arsenal. Which I believe is also the working title of his campaign memoir.

They won't stop just because he's not running for president.  We'll just have to check local news instead of national news.
