Craig James (Sort Of) Addresses That "Google Bomb" About Those "Five Dead Hookers"

Mention the words "Craig James," and chances are at some point your comments section will fill up with something like, oh, I dunno, something like this: "I've heard CRAIG JAMES HAS NEVER DENIED THAT HE KILLED 5 HOOKERS WHILE HE WAS AT SMU." Which the SMU Mustang never seemed to mind when he was on ESPN or getting Mike Leach fired, but now that he's running for U.S. Senate, well, that's a whole different ball of oy-vey. As Deadspin notes this morning it even made James's own campaign website, though nobody's yet bothered to remove the brilliant acrostic contributed by one Ramzy Nasrallah.

Anyway. James has taken to the Twitter and Facebook to more or less address the fact he in no way killed five hookers while he was at SMU. Well, he sort of touches on it, actually, linking to this piece posted yesterday about how James is the victim of a "Google Bomb." Tweets James, or whoever it is he pays to do his tweeting: "They're a headache, but they won't slow down this campaign." If you say so. Though, clearly, those comments on his own campaign's Facebook page won't do him any favors. The first one? "Sooooooooo...does this qualify as a denial?"

I am a proud Red Raider, I won't even go into the debaucle created in Lubbock. However, I think we all are fools if we continue the cycle and elect the Pony Express to the senate. Seriously, does SMU, ESPN want their name to be drug through the mud over and over and over and over... Then again, it may become interesting. Couldn't agree more. Being a football player and mediocre sports caster certainly shouldn't qualify you for public office, but in the Republican party being a B Movie actor who played a football player in a movie was enough to get elected as Governor of California, and then President, twice. So don't underestimate the stupidity of the voting public

There seems to be some doubt that Craig james killed five hookers at SMU. Did the not die right away? Are the suffering in some dark electrical closet near a foot ball practice field? Robert, Help me out here....I remember hearing something about him running for senate...but I thought it was some state in the North East (New Jersey?) because he's with ESPN. Is he running for the Texas Senate seat? I'd like to think I'm reasonably aware of what's going on...if he's running for Texas Senate I had no idea. If so, I'd say he needs any publicity he can get. Good God, I've heard less about him than (former) mayor good hair's run. BTW, is Leppert still running?

Wow, Diane, this is SO true! You can tell a persons reputation by how they act; it should never be judged on beliefs-but by truisms. But so many are drawn in by this smoke screen called religion......I couldn't imagine being so weak, to just '"fall in " by religious rank?!. Many of these politicians talk about "bringing Christian values to our government" which seems to show a complete lack of understanding about our Constitution. If someone were to run as a Muslim, a Jew, a Hindu, a Bhuddist or Eastern Orthodox, I wonder what the reaction would be? I feel sure that many of the professed Christians would be up in arms about it. It has been my experience that the majority of people who claim to be Christian don't have a clue as to what they are talking about. (For the record, I have over four years of theological studies and am Roman Catholic.) Given some of the basic tenets of Christianity, I would expect the Democratic Party to be full of them. BTW, please go get a refund on those Civics Classes.

So, I can't tell if it's been confirmed or denied that Craig James killed five hookers while at SMU. He merely talked about a "google bomb" which may or may not be an allusion to the fact that he has never denied that he killed five hookers while at SMU.

Paul I don't like Craig James any more than you do, but your reading of the Constitution is rather strange. The prohibition is that Congress (later applied to state and local government bodies) "...can make no law establishing religion, nor prohibiting the free exercise thereof." If "Chirstians" or anyone else want to vote for candidates of their own religious group, they are perfectly free to do so; they just can't expect that those candidates, if elected, can make law enforcing a particular religious dogma.
Promise? If I could get everybody that hates Texas to move out of Texas, I'd run for office myself. Actually, I don't blame anyone for his or her disenchantment with the political landscape, but try to avoid the hate speech about Texas in my presence. There is no right way to disparage your neighbors, and it makes you look like a bigot to boot.

If James were to somehow win - more example of a stupid electorate. What are his qualifications and what has he done to earn the office? He took money to go to SMU (justification was that everyone was doing it) so how would the citizens know that he would not accept money (bribes) as a US senator?
I am truly amazed that Craig James considers himself a qualified, viable candidate for any elective governmental office, let alone the US Senate. Did he take too many blows to the head during his football days, or is he merely ignorant?
