Tonight, as we burn the final candle on the menorah, we return to that secret stash of oldies but goodies that knows no end. I'd heard a few minutes from this recording a couple of years back, when a clip made its bow on the great KZEW tribute site. But now, here's the broadcast in its entirety: Dr. John and the Bonnaroo Review at the old Aragon Ballroom on April 11, 1974, just days after the release of Desitively Bonnaroo.

The Aragon, formerly on Industrial, would become the Electric Ballroom, site of many a Zoo broadcast, including a New Year's Day '75 freakout we'll get to at the right place and the right time. Till then, this one's so live that Ken Rundel, Gary Shaw and Mark Christopher had to penalty-kill seven minutes' worth of airtime till the band made its way to the stage for a jumpin-jive rendition of "When the Saints Go Marching In," followed by an "Iko Iko" for the ages. The set list is spot on -- capped, but of course, with "Right Place, Wrong Time," which always reminds me of Dazed and Confused. Then again, most things do.
