Speaking of local sports venues ...

A Friend of Unfair Park sends this dispatch concerning FC Dallas's Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, which will no longer be called Pizza Hut Park. Leigh Anne Gullett, director of public relations for the MLS franchise, confirms: After North Dakota State and Sam Houston State play in the Football Championship Subdivision on January 7, she tells Unfair Park the joint will be referred to as FC Dallas Stadium "until a new sponsorship deal is reached." Gullett also forwarded The Official Statement from the club:
Pizza Hut, as the company has recently shown with some of its other venue agreements, has shifted its sports marketing philosophy and will no longer be our naming rights partner. We are actively searching for a new naming rights partner for the stadium and are in discussions with several interested companies. Meanwhile, after the FCS game on Jan. 7, we will be referred to as FC Dallas Stadium until a new deal is reached.

Eff Pizza Hut. Will make sure to never order anything from there again (of course, as their pizza already sucks, I don't order from there now so I don't think they are going to miss me).

Deadbeats. As an FC Dallas fan, I curse Pizza Hut. May their crusts henceforth taste like cardboard, their tomato sauce cause gastric distress, their cheese be tasteless and their meats unidentifiable!

OK, here's my million-dollar idea:

Make the stadium name sign digital, then you can sell naming rights by the day or even the hour.  How many people would pay to see their own name up there, even if only for an hour?  You'd make a killing.

I knew those $10 large pizzas would cost us eventually, but I always assumed it would be obesity not naming rights.

At this point, I'll settle for a constant flow of electricity at the office.

I happened to hear you will be spinning tunes on the ticket but I missed when, you gonna plug yourself in a separate post?

Yup -- 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. Christmas Eve. I will post something separately, probably tomorrow, when I open the request lines.

I'm not against the idea of corporate names on stadiums, but I'm really tired of the constant renaming of stadiums that seems to go on these days.
