At Last, We Have a Firm Opening Date for That New Central Market in Preston Royal

Speaking of new grocery stores ...

Last we'd been told, the Central Market replacing the old Borders (which replaced an old Safeway) in Preston Royal would be open come "mid-winter." But as you can see from the photo I snapped a couple of nights ago, it's looking awful close to opening. How close? I asked spokesperson Michelle Chism yesterday. She responds this morning: "We open the doors February 15." Freshly baked bagels and bialys at the ready. Einstein Bros. must be thrilled.

-Weekend am lines are out the door at Einstein's, so CM could be a good thing for people who hate waiting in line.

-Favorite thing about TJs besides the fresh seafood: They used to have a photo up (it might have been 2 photos) of a fish and a baby. The fish was labeled "red snapper"; the baby was labeled "whippersnapper."

I will continue to shop at Einstein Bros for my bagels. Can't afford Central Market prices anyway! But I guess that neighborhood doesn't worry about the pennies too much.

TJ's Fresh Seafood Market has done great across the street from Whole Foods for a decade. We ain't skeered. Supermarkets will never put fish markets out of business. You can't hide "fresh".

I had no clue there was a fresh seafood market across from Whole Foods. Is it better than Rex's? Where exactly is it?

It is THE seafood market in the Metroplex. It often has fresher fish than the high end fish restaurants as they have their own suppliers and fly fish in daily. Well worth trying!
