The Dallas Farmers Market, way back when
Speaking of the downtown farmers market ...

When last we looked at that cache of old photos of the market stored in the city's Municipal Archives and posted to the University of North Texas Libraries' Portal to Texas History invaluable website, there were a few dozen, give or take. But I see that number's been upped to 149. Reason I looked: The city has sent word that come Monday, a bunch of them will be displayed at City Hall to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the market, which officially opened December of '41 at Pearl and Cadiz following a $500,000 bond election that June. And not that I'm discouraging a visit to the City Hall, where the photos will be on display till November 24. But, you know.

There used to be quite a rat problem down there. That was solved as they moved into county politics.
