John Lithgow, Peter Weller to Q&A After Very Special Screening of Buckaroo Banzai

Lithgow and Weller, together again
Like I said a few weeks ago: John Lithgow's coming to town November 18 for a Very Special Event courtesy the Dallas Film Society, which will take place at the Hall of State with Elvis Mitchell moderating the Q&A. And, like I said a few weeks ago, the Dallas Film Society is also screening two of the actor's best-known films the following day; we just didn't know then which films.

Now we do: The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension and Terms of Endearment, one of which earned Lithgow a best supporting actor Oscar nomination. Buckaroo Banzai screens November 19 at 11 a.m. at the Angelika in Mockingbird Station; Terms follows at around 1:30. p.m. My mother's very excited about one of those screenings.

Ah, but there's other Big News: Lithgow will also intro the Buckaroo Banzai screening and stick around for a post-show Q&A. And he's bringing with him none other than North Texas State University's own Peter Weller -- Buckaroo Banzai himself and, of course, RoboCop. Do not let the fact I will be moderating this rare-opportunity Q&A with both men keep you from attending.

Says the DFS, tickets for the screenings are free for those attending The Art of Film event the night before, and will be made available for purchase to the public for a mere $8 starting November 15 at the Angelika box office. Says the announcement: "Rush line tickets will be available at the theater on the day of the screenings, but seating is limited." I should think so. The trailers follow. Good luck getting that Buckaroo Banzai music out of your head today.

I was at the New York screening they attended a few weeks back. Wish I'd had enough advance warning - I'd probably have tried to hit this one, too.

Must attend.I wonder if they would autograph my VHS tape of Buckaroo?

Sure do wish they would do a good reissue of Buckaroo on DVD or Blu-ray.

Indeed -- though I will say, the "special edition" DVD does have a surprising amount of extras. And it's available for $7.99 at Movie Trading Co. on Greenville. At least, there was one copy there Monday night.
