To say Jenkins is a major disappointment and just plain stupid at times is an understatement, but Maurene Dickey does herself, or anyone else for that matter, no favors by coming across as a hystrionic female. Then of course we have the "I love to hear myself scream at the white woman" JWP. All of them need a good time out and mandatory anger management classes. I'd be happy just to see them get through 30 days of meetings without turning the business of the county into an E! channel reality show.

Some thoughts on double standards for those who elected vs those who are hired:

1) Elected official Judge Carlos Cortez (one of Jenkins' cronies) gets drunk at a party and gets into a fight with a couple of other elected officials and it splashes all over the papers, and he also circulates a bunch of unprofessional emails about his colleagues (not sure what time of day), and that gets splashed all over the papers. RESULT: He gets re-elected in 2010.

2) Appointed homeland security employee gets drunk and falls on an elected official's family members (supposedly) and circulates unprofessional emails about her colleagues at all hours of the night (supposedly). RESULT: She gets the sack because our elected officials are "looking out for the safety" of us idiot citizens.

3) Elected official Judge Clay Jenkins acts like a total out-of-control jerk in a public forum and unprofessionally reveals private information about job performance, possibly opening himself up to slander charges and putting the county at financial risk. RESULT: You decide in 2014.

1) Cortez wasn't re-elected by Jenkins he was re-elected by you. 2) Brett Shipp reported the time of emails and they were at all hours of the night. 3) You should put (supposedly) after "looking out for the safety of us idiot citizens. 4) Government is public, there is nothing private about it or nothing that an open records request can show, so Jenkins just spead up the report and 5) It's only slander if its false...

He was essentially hired by the Dallas County "mafia." He was a resident of Waxahachie (not in Dallas County) until shortly before the election and continued to run his law practice out of Waxahachie even after he moved into Dallas County. (Sam Merten uncovered evidence that Jenkins was still voting in Ellis County after he had claimed to move to Dallas).

His candidacy sprang out of nowhere, when he showed up out of the blue with the who's who of the Dallas County machine all lined up in lockstep endorsing him. The Dallas Morning News jumped on the bandwagon, as well.

He did relatively little conventional public campaigning.

My understanding is that, within the state of Texas, recall elections are only permitted in CITIES that have their own home rule charter. In other words, we're s.o.l.

The situation in Dallas County has become so extreme, however, that it might be worth seeing if some sort of law could be passed at the state level that would allow for some sort of additional oversight of and/or controls on, Dallas County elected officials.

Probably just wishful thinking, but it would be nice if Dallas County could be placed under some sort of "conservatorship" and cleaned up. In the absence of immediate repercussions, it seems like Price and Jenkins are becoming more and more emboldened to act out. I see this ending very badly at some point.

Amazing. All of that ranting by Jenkins and I never even saw Price's lips move once. Not once. Now, Price's arm up Jenkin's back was a dead giveaway of sock amateur puppeteering, but the voice work.....just perfect.

If Jenkins is going to paper Chambers personnel file, he needs to learn to do a better job. Besides calling her a loafer and a drunk in a public forum is just what the plaintiff's lawyer needs for the wrongful termination suit and the slander suit. All he needed to say is: "Ms. Chamber's work performance was not meeting expectations. She was counseled on the items for which she needed to improve or be terminated. She did not meet the performance improvement targets. This is a personnel performance matter and I will not comment further."

Of course this is all tempered by any sort of employment contract that Chambers may have had.

I am not sure how things like this work above my Pay Grade but if it was me I would file for unemployment and make them show the related DOCUMENTS the counselings the warnings the meetings and the like as to why I was fired .PROVE IT ! If that is allowed for folks in those kind of jobs .That will take care of all the leg work that will need to be done for her Cash it in Law suit !

I don't know if she had a contract or if her job had civil service protections, but employees in Texas usually work at will and can be fired for good reason, bad reason, or no reason at all. No counselings or warnings are required.

Now if she were fired for refusing to do something illegal . . . .

Human Resource department to handle up on the actual event . True, Texas is an "at will" employment state; however, most employers will want to terminate for cause in order to avoid an increase in their unemployment tax levy. The unemployment tax levy is based upon how many employees you terminate or layoff without cause.

Employees who are terminated for cause cannot collect unemployment.
