Former Mayor Tom Leppert to Occupy Movement: Get a Job, You Damned Hippies

endtheoccupation.jpg
From Tom Leppert's new online petition
If Tom Leppert were still mayor, rather than a candidate for U.S. Senate, it's possible the city might not have been so accommodating with those presently occupying the parking lot behind Dallas City Hall. I knew we forgot to mention something Friday, when I first espied this on the former mayor's Facebook page, but former Observer-er Patrick Michels didn't: Over at The American Independent, Patrick redirects our attention to a website paid for by Texans for Tom Leppert: EndOccupy.com, billed as a petition to President Obama "calling on him to denounce the angry Occupy mob."

This is what the former Washington Mutual board member wrote on Facebook Friday:
The Occupy Wall Street crowd wrongly thinks the government should be redistributing wealth and giving handouts at the expense of hardworking American taxpayers. They don't seem to understand the fact that only the private sector can create jobs and get us out of this recession. Enough is enough. Sign my petition by going to http://endoccupy.com/ and tell President Obama to denounce Occupy's calls for class warfare and a radical expansion of government.
Contrast that to Mayor Mike Rawlings's thoughts on the subject, also Facebooked last week: "I believe individuals should be able to express their views within the framework of the law."

What do you expect from a republican millionaire? These types like herman Cain offer the simplistic prescription of "Go get a job" I guess a college grad with $50,000 in debt should go work at In and Out Burgers for $10 a hour.

"The protests, which are now worldwide, are against the policies that allowed this to happen.Reinstate the rules and regulations that have been dismantled over the past decades, and things might get better."

Worldwide are they ? What a joke !!  They, nor you, has yet to articulate a clear message on what the gathering intends to accomplish. Kleptocracy ??

Reinstate the rules & regulations ??

I'll give you a hint since your cadre of miss guided bumbling jackass's couldn't get out of a wet paper bag in a rainstorm.

You might start with 1600 Penn Ave in DC and your talking points could begin with the 3000+ pages of legislation in Dodd/Frank that still don't break up the biggest or do anything to avoid a repeat of 2008. Or how bout the 2800+ pages of dead weight placed on the middle class with the Patient Affordable Care Act that King Kenya's crony czar Sebelious is feverishly handing out waivers for.

The private sector is sitting on all those trillions becuase it's going to need them if Obummer gets relected for another term. The Tsunami of taxes increases that will hit in 2013 if he's not replaced will most definitly send the US economy into yet "another" recesssion. I can assure you, employed or not, your lifestyle right now is much better than it will be then. You & your dingleberry's seem to think Leppert is either part of or "the" problem. Can't wait to hear what you think about Eddie Berniece Johnson and Royse West.

Nothing shocking Lepper represents those who would see all of your personal rights and freedoms stripped away. Look no further than the ban on smoking in bars he passed while in office as Mayor. He's the poster boy for liars, sexists, bigots and egotistical hypocrites everywhere.

Imagine that, Leppert is not even elected and he is already sounding like a corporate bought stooge politician. He needs to pull his head out of his ass. Before Occupy Wall Street, these politicians / corporate welfare bottom feeders were screaming where are the jobs. Now after Occupy Wall Street they are screaming get a job. Let's see if Leppert can overcome his  stupidity and figure it out. I don't hold out much hope for the moron.

I don't see the contrast. Leppert expressed his opinion. Rawlings expressed his.

Because it was teachers and firemen that caused the recession, right conservatives?

Patriotsunite

Recessions have come and gone throughout history. It is called BUSINESS cycles. What matters is how it is handled. Therein lies the failure, this time epic failure. You see, here is how this works. When the economy is growing, more people get hired because there is profit to hire more people to do the work.  When the regime's stated policy is hatred of profit and business and taxpayers, us peasants reward the government withresponding to their conduct. Not very complicated. Teachers and firemen, members of unions, are simply useful money laundering tools. They work hard, donate some of their income to their unions, the money goes direct to the Democrat party and are irrelevant to the recession as they never lose their jobs. That is, until there is no private sector to pay taxes to employ them.

Freedom of speech, but only when it suits them. Since when did Americans become so angry when people use their 1st Amendment rights? And what kind of bizarre alternative reality are we living in when so many people are defending billionaire CEO's that got us into this mess, and attempting to discredit the protestors that got trampled on during the recession? Fox News is more powerful than we realize.

If you sympathize with the Occupy protestors the best thing you can do is change your habits. If you are with Bank of America or Chase Bank or any bank that got bailed out, switch to a community bank. Today I went to Frost Bank. Change from AT&T to Credo Mobile. Or from Verizon or whatever. There are other options. Stop shopping at Walmart and look for local shops to buy your shit at. It may be less convenient, but we need to get back some of our identity as a community. If every city in America is a strip mall full of Starbucks and Walmarts, where is the culture in that? What's the point of traveling to other cities and going to the same shitty stores? I love the diversity in America but we are transforming into a glob of amorphic, bland cut-out corporate owned shit.

Patriotsunite
Patriotsunite

Walmart has done more to reduce poverty than any politician by providing competitive low prices. Competition. Free markets. No one cares where you buy your $3.00 coffee or keep your bank account. The groups sympathizing, The American Communist Party, The American Nazi Party, Russia and China and the leader of Iran should tell you something. If you cannot take a hint about the direction of Democrats, try finding a book about 1917 in Russia. No more competition to worry about- state owned everything including the people. The government decides how much money you receive. It took 72 years for that system to collapse.

Mike
Mike

You are probably not old enough to remember the same strip malls were there, but filled with lousy individually owned stores at much higher prices.  Some kind of mythology has built up about how we once had all these great little stores across America, little LL Beans I assume.  That's a complete load.  When I was a kid, we had one or two stores outside the big city in our towns, selection was awful, everything was mail order with delivery in weeks, hours were few and prices were outrageous.  Just because the owner lived in the town for 30 years does not mean anything.  Usually it just meant the same guy ripped you off for 30 years.

Why aren't the protestors protesting in DC?That's where the exploitative rules are made, that's where the abuse of regular people is legalized.Protesting/boycotting the cheaters for not being held accountable doesn't make sense to me.Protest the legal and political authorities who let it happen or it will never stop.

Who is Mr. P?

Is he the man or woman who sits home day after day living anunproductive life? Through no fault of his own, is he the man or woman whoreturns home day after day drained of hope and living in despair without onesingle job offer? Is he the young college graduate saddled with tens ofthousands of dollars in student loans he cannot hope to repay because there areno jobs? Through no fault of his own, is he the man or woman forced to acceptself worth destroying handouts in the form of unemployment checks? Every timehe cashes those poisonous temporary checks that are never really enough to makeends meet, he lays on his bed, thinking of the bleak future for his wife andchildren. He dreads that sure day when the handouts stop, and his beloved familyis forced into the cruel, dangerous streets of homelessness and numbingpoverty. One day he will shut his front door behind him for the last time, never to sit in front of his own warm fireplace on a cold but beautifulChristmas Day. His Thanksgiving feast will be served this year in a soupkitchen. He knows in his gut his family is now in mortal danger!

Or is Mr. P fortunate enough to be working, although livingin an uncertain future, but he still sees his savings being systematicallydestroyed by ruthless market manipulators. He sees all power ripped from hissoul and centralized into the ravenous hands of 1% of our population. Mr. Psees now sees the unholy trinity of greed, lies, and dishonesty seducing hiselected representatives who are paid to turn blind eyes to the suffering of theAmerican people.

Is Mr. P forced by the banking cartels of the world to tradehis actual labor and limited time on earth for worthless pieces of papersubject to untold varieties of currency manipulation where money is pursued forthe sake of money? Chief among the sinners and seated first at the table ofgreed is the Federal Reserve Bank of New York City. Our great, sound currency of honest money once calledthe proud U.S. Dollar backed by solid gold, has been stolen and replaced withnearly worthless Federal Reserve notes. Mr. P has been given mountains ofworthless paper in return for his hard labor. His paychecks are items of debt, backed by nothing, and owned lock, stock and barrel by the most powerfulbanking cartel on earth, the Federal Reserve Bank of NY and her devilish spawnof regional Federal Reserve banks. The system is designed to systematicallystrangle the American worker in a universal sea of debt that now can never berepaid. Politicians of both parties are in an unholy alliance with the bankingcartel enabling them to create social programs (i.e. legally buy votes) to bere-elected to eternal seats of power by old, outworn corrupt leaders who fastenthemselves to seats of power without limits to their terms of office. Timeafter time after time even when they are proven to be corrupt, they cling tounearned sets of power and privilege! Behold, our representative democracy hasturned into the private playground of ineffective leaders that vote themselvespay raises, health care, and pensions even though they threw away theirresponsibility under the Constitution their sacred duty to coin money, handing our economic freedom to the privatebanking cartel. And yes, some of them dare to corrupt the minds and morals of oursons and daughters who are turned into sex toys and come home forever stainedby the experience of being molested and abused---their faith in the systemdestroyed forever.

Is Mr. P the head of anAmerican Family who is forced by the banking cartel to pay $200,000 in intereston a $100,000 loan for 30 long and risky years during a period of rampantnational unemployment coupled with hyper-inflation?

Is Mr. P the victim of ascheme foisted upon the American People under the color of law in this insanepolicy of printing endless and soon to be worthless Federal Reserve notes? These pieces of paper have been used to pay for a 14 Trillion Dollar Debt (andrising) created to bailout the banking cartel from paying the price for theirrisky gambling. You see my fellow Americans since the bankers don’t actuallywork for money but play with it to their own benefit, We the People are poisedto buy our bread at $99 a loaf, and our gas at $99 Dollars a gallon.

Is Mr. P the neglected man forced into a lifetimeof economic slavery to a select few of self appointed bankers filled with greedand corrupted by their ego and unbridled self interest?

It was they who sit inplush offices printing their way to wealth with a computer keystroke theendless money to buy their mansions and their luxury yachts. It was they whodeliberately and with the malice of forethought stole our currency while ourNation slept. It was on a winter night in 1913 with a bare majority of theCongress present consented to the legal theft of our national currency. Underthe cover of darkness, these few removed the power to coin money given to theCongress by our Founding Fathers by passing the Federal Reserve Act of 1913.These few corrupt banking lords of darkness brought together the barest numberof handpicked members of Congress to pass a law that removed our currency fromthe hands of the People. Congress handed over their power to coin and regulatemoney to a privately owned banking cartel night under the cover of darkness. Thesefew corrupt but ingenious bankers have used their stolen power to enslave us tothe demon of interest than can never be re-paid except by the lucky few. Mr. Psaid lucky I said lucky, but the proper phrase would be the lucky “fools” who payinterest on money the banking cartels create with a computer key stroke, backedby nothing at all, neither silver nor gold. Instead, the toiling masses are paid in worthless paperprinted over and over again in an endless Ponzi scheme and lent to thosetoiling masses who actually produce goods and services to keep the 1% in powerand the rest of us, black and white, Asian and Hispanic, rich and poor dancingto the tune of the fiendish devil’s infinite greed for power and wealth earnedon the bloody backs of the toiling masses.

Is there a way for the middle class of America, and those toaspire to become a productive member again of the 99% of Americans who livingordinary lives, asking only to have the dream of a secure job, a home that theycan own free and clear, and a brighter future for their children and grandchildren? Is there a way out of this nightmare that was once Camelot? Is therea way to restore our light again help the world see the way to a future builton justice and freedom for all?

Say with me, say it loud, and say it clear:  Where there is a Will, there is a Way? Again,Where there is a Will, there is a way. Again Where there is a Will, there is away.

Wewill watch the false nation of illusion, greed and ego stolen by the supremelyselfish consumed with ego and greed dissolve as our God Given Spirits burn withthe light of the Sons of God. We will shout from our hearts and our mouths ournew Declaration of Independence. We will sit peacefully and sleep peacefullyday and night, and night and day in and around our Nation’s monuments and weshall and will shall speak with the infinite authority of our Creator say withOnce Voice with One Voice, One Power and One Righteous Cause, We The People ofthe United States of America DEMAND

The return of a currency of the people, by the people and forthe people, and we will not leave until the American Dollar is restored to theownership of the people of the United States, and we demand that it be backedby silver and gold, silver and gold brought forth by honest labor and not t hecomputer keystrokes of a greedy few!

We the People DEMAND DIRECT Payments to its unemployed workersare given direct payment in the form of cash vouchers to present to employerswho offer immediate work and training. Shout with me, Work, Not Charity, Work, Not Charity, Work, and NotCharity. Yes, all of us want and deserve the dignity of work. We want the rightto support our families by the hard and honest labor of our minds and bodies. It is the right of every American to perform the dignity of work.

And last, butcertainly not least, We DEMAND a Peoples Home Loan where the banks are forcedto credit on Month 1 50% of the house payment to the reduction of the PrincipalDebt and 50% to interest, AND a guarantee of home ownership to every Americanin 15 years or less! Shout with me… home ownership, 15 or less, home ownership15 or less, home ownership 15 or less.

We will never leave these streets until these righteousdemands are met. We will never surrender. We will walk and sleep night and day,and day and night in every street in our Nation. We will be in your faces dayand night, and night and day. We hereby call a National Strike. We will notwork as a Nation of Slaves traveling in a ship of fools. If we starve or die ofthirst, or thrown in prison, our agony and our dying bodies will be the bloodupon which the new America will be built. We will never surrender until ourcountry is returned to its rightful owners, We the People of the United of theUnited States of America. Shout it strong  until the naked monster of greed andexploitation melts in the bright light of the Sons and Daughters of America, the land of the free and the home of the brave. God through You, the AmericanPeople, Bless these great United States of America!

I conclude with theremarks of Williams Jennings Bryan, among the greatest of our Nation’s leaders, and a strong advocate of an American owned currency of silver and gold 16:1,amending his words slightly to address our country’s clear and present dangerof collapse:

“If they dare to comeout in the open field and defend printing worthless paper money as a goodthing, we shall fight them to the uttermost, having behind us the producing massesof the nation and the world. Having behind us the commercial interest and thelaboring interests, and all the toiling masses, we shall answer their demandsfor the printing of unlimited paper money not worth 2 pennies a sheet, YOUSHALL NOT PRESS DOWN UPON THE BROW OF AMERICA THIS CROWN OF WORTHLESS TRASH. Many countries have what you call 'democracy', meaning one person one vote. Not all have the rights of U.S. citizens - the 1st amendment to the U.S. Constitution. This country is not a democracy. It is a Republic. There is a difference.

Actually, the only winners in socialism are the insider crony capitalists-you know, like GE/Jeffrey Immelt, Solyndra, Brookfield Management which owns Zuccotti Park - they got $169 Million from the Department of Energy for a solar farm in sunny New Hampshire, one week after Occupy Wall Street started, three weeks ago.

redistributing wealth huh?  Sounds like a good idea when you have nothing, but wait till they redistribute your wealth!  Whats the bottom end of wealth.  what if whether you made $5000 or $500k they redistributed part of your pay, how would you feel then.

RTGolden
RTGolden

Didn't they redistribute my wealth already?  Where the hell do you think $700 billion for TARP bailouts came from?  They distributed the wealth I made, will make, and I'll have to make more (somehow) in order to bail out the banks and corporations.I'm about as much a fiscal conservative as you'll ever find, I'm against most social services programs as they stand now.  I feel our moral injunction is to clothe the needy, not style them.  However, I don't believe any business is 'too big to fail', either.  If the banking hierarchy allowed the reckless investments and patently bogus investment ratings.  then to hell with them, let them fail.  Instead we tax every tax-paying household $7,000 (approx) in order to bail out the banks, which should have stimulated the economy, through lending and investing in sound businesses.  Instead, the banks have sat on the money, using our tax dollars to pad their balance sheet and allow the execs to take home 7 or 8 digit 'incentive packages'.  Show me a true conservative who would look at that and call it just.

Tad Banyon

Wealth redistribution isn't anything new or dastardly, its a normal, natural function of our system. The only difference between now and any other time is that recently its being redistributed more from the middle to the top than from the top to the middle. All so-called wealth redistributors want is for the jet stream of wealth to move the direction that made the country great in the first place. Conservatives should be be on board with that idea; they're always harping about the good old days and looking down on elitists. If the top 1% aren't the very definition of elitist, I don't know who is.

Laying off thousands of middle class folks in order to pay for tax breaks for the wealthy is also a form of wealth redistribution. That's the kind people are rightly pissed about.

I would feel like I had less money to bribe and cajole the powers that be if I were in the top 1% (owning more wealth than the bottom 90%). And, I would need that money if some startup formulated a better widget and threatened my easily purchased status quo.

Sounds like some good commie theories. Actually in a free market since the beginning of time, i.e. Darwin's theory, et al, 20% of the people do 80% of the work. What you and Marx suggest is the 80% are entitled to the fruits of labor of the 20%. That is likely why the American Communist Party, the American Nazi Party, China, Russia and Iran agree with the Democrats who have staged and financed 'Occupy'.

all I know is when the economy is bad and sybil needs work, she finds work for us, either tuting or stripping, but hey I got that all these people would rather go sleep in tents and protest than work.  And dont tell me you can earn a livable wage at McDs or Burger King, Assistant Managers start in the mid 40s (look it up)  If you arent management material there well then maybe you deserve to be left behind bc you didnt try hard enough to make yourself marketable out of college or high school

Stupid? What are you a friggin beaver and an economist?

The credit market imperfection approach, developed by Galor and Zeira (1993), demonstrates that inequality in the presence of credit market imperfections has a long lasting detrimental effect on human capital formation and economic development.

The political economy approach, developed by Alesian and Rodrik 1994) and Persson and Tabellini (1994), argues that inequality is harmful for economic development because inequality generates a pressure to adopt redistributive policies that have an adverse effect on investment and economic growth.

Really? Can you prove that? I suspect they are part of the 47% of the country paying no tax demanding more and more and more thinking someone else must take care of them.

Leppert - just another big-business, crony-capitalistic know nothing. How come these politicians are always talking about how inefficient government is (y'know, the government that they're running) but that private business has the exclusive know-how to create jobs. I don't know about any of you guys but every biz I've ever worked for can be just an inefficient as any DMV I've ever visited.
