Once Again, the Dallas Police Department Busts Out Some Old Photo Albums

Dallas Police Department
When the Dallas Police Department isn't using its Facebook page to post breaking news about missing persons or arrested officers, it's sharing quite a bit of departmental history via old photos. Already we've peeked at an illustrated history of the department's sweet rides, and been treated to a gallery featuring the chiefs (and their mustaches). Today's offering is a bit more generic, but no less enjoyable: History of Dallas Police Department, which, sadly, features quite a few photos of its old helicopters (perhaps to send a message concerning this, which goes before the council for a vote tomorrow?). Still. I gotta get me a pair of those motorcycle boots.

Funny thing, I recently subpoenaed their 1978 Operations Manual, and they have officially responded that they "can't find it."

The third photo in (Dallas Police 10) is JD Tippit's car at the sight of his murder on 11/22/63.

I love the picture of the officer in the duster with his partner holding a Winchester '97 pump shotguns. It feels like it could have come from Sam Pekinpah's "Wild Bunch".

I thought the reason they called you "Big Bob" had to do with big calf-highs you already owned...so, would new, taller ones make you "Bigger Bob"?

I am cautiously optimistic that DPD is on a sustained upswing that could result in us having one of the best big city departments.  Have I lost my mind?
