Now on the WFAA Site, Brett Shipp's Account of His Violent (?)Run-In With John Wiley Price

While I was writing the item below, which I am sure you're all reading at this very moment, several Friends of Unfair Park asked if we were going to follow up on Brett Shipp's tweet concerning allegations that Dallas County Commission John Wiley Price assaulted him and threatened to "split my throat." Yeah -- I've been trying to reach The Ninth Most Powerful Man in Dallas this morning. But, clearly, he wanted to break the story on his own news outlet's website. Pffft. So here's some of what he just posted to the Channel 8 site:

Dallas County Commissioner John Wiley Price was involved in a physical confrontation with WFAA-TV Reporter Brett Shipp on Wednesday morning.

The incident took place around 11:30 a.m. at the commissioner's county office on Langdon Road, south of I-20.

According to Shipp, Price used his arm and the heel of his hand to physically remove Shipp from his office.

Price also threatened to "split my throat" according to Shipp.

The story says Shipp, who was following up his stories about Wai-Wize and Willis Johnson and those satellite dishes for which the county clearly overpaid, was "not seriously harmed." And there's video coming at 5, 6 and 10. Tune in. Hard.

Update at 2:43 p.m.: The video's been posted. Some of it, anyway.

Why come the great John Wiley Price didn't push the G-Men (FBI) around when they came into his office, his home, his cars....hmmm. Just saying.........

It's definitely worth my time. It's time he is held accountable for each and every misdeed he commits. He is not above the law. There are no "petty" crimes. People who defend him or act like this is all some sort of overreaction need to look in the mirror and figure out what their real motivations are for wanting to excuse criminality in some but not in others.

JWP removed Shipp from his office, yet JWP is the one who fell to the floor holding the back of his neck claiming whip lash (I'm just guessing that's what happened)...
Yeah...but your are not going to get any useful info out of JWP if you keep pestering him. That guy is a hot head! Of course he will say something nutty like "slip your throat". Brett is not an idiot, he could of handled it better. I'm fine with him filing charges for that reason like you said, to me it's not worth my time because some old man grabbed my arm and shouted insults at me when I am being snot nose reporter.
You don't f #@k with the FBI, 60 Minutes, and WFAA. You will always pay in the end. Brett Shipp...you go boy!
I don't usually watch the local TV news. I may have to make an exception. A buttery, salty, popcorny, beery exception...
He's a reporter, he's supposed to follow leads, not "back off" a story because the person of interest doesn't like the line of questioning. He should pursue charges because public officials need to be reminded they are not above the law. Some more than others.

If Price actually assaulted and threatened Shipp, then Shipp should press charges. Otherwise, he's just trying to get ratings.
I hope the WFAA staffers come back and slow walk in front of his office.
I don't like either...but Brett is a dumb bulldog. He always pushes peoples buttons when they tell him to back off. I remember he kept harrassing Dirk Nowitzki with the same questions over and over and during the whole crazy girlfriend thing. Brett better be a man and walk this off

Nah, he would just leave the country before depriving the world with his grace and tender spirit.
I would expect JWP to commit suicide in the coming weeks.

The FBI already knew about those dishes, how much we were overpaying for them and Willis Johnson's connections to Price. Price is just now figuring out he is a cornered rat, I expect more of this as he comes to realize that the FBI is holding all the cards and there is nothing he can do until the inevitable indictment, all he can do now is hope it isn't going to be as big as he knows it could be.

First off,,,I am a black man in my early sixties. To me Price is a South Dallas thug and has always been a thug. He has always used his political power and control over Southern Dallas to get what he wants.
