Domingo, As a Member of the Redistricting Commission, You Should Really Know Better

Robert,it appears that you attended the Rupert Murdock school of journalism. A courtesy phone call would have been nice,so that I could have given my side.The Plan 1,is a demonstration map to show that 5 Hispanic opportunity districts could be drawn,there was no attempt to draw other districts since the plan is for demonstrative purposes only,for example a review by the Dept of Justice Voting rights section at some future date if the city of Dallas passed a plan that cracked and packed Latino voters.The Unity plan that is a citywide plan will be presented Thursday night at our next redistricting meeting,it is called Plan 16.This map draws 5 majority Latino opportunity districts,3 African-American majority districts and one minority coalition district in Northeast Dallas.Not everyone will like it but creates a new Pleasant Grove district and reunites West Dallas.This is about compromise by all sides.In the future my phone number is 214-941-8300.I got to say I amazing at the name calling by some bloggers who have no idea of what it takes to draw a city map or that all of us on the commission are citizen volunteers,who cannot run for city council or serve on a board till 2015! I serve because I care about Dallas and want good government that represents ALL the people. I hope everyone else at least agrees on this point.

At tomorrow's Dallas City Council Redistricting meeting I will have copies for anyone interested of a comparison of the 22 full plans listed on the Dallas Redistricting web site and either already presented or scheduled for presentation. The information on each plan that I use in making the comparison is linked from the Dallas City Hall Web page at: http://www.dallascityhall.com/.... This updated comparison will continue the pattern of providing 8 measurements with which to compare the plans. I will also post the updated list to my blog at http://dallasredistricting2011... as soon as it is completed tomorrow.  The meeting starts at 6 PM at Dallas City Hall, Room 6SE.  You must arrive by 5:55 if you want to sign up to comment on plans, or you must call the redistricting office before 5 PM at 214-670-5735 to leave your name as a speaker.   

Garcia will probably want a district that is majority illegals so that an illegal can be on the city council.

Well, they are geting closer. They are listening to us in the East who want to get the hell away from South Dallas in voting. No offense, S.D., but our issues, our concerns, our neighborhoods are not similar. We in the far east pay taxes and have been completely ignored, divided in two, whatever, to dilute our voice. So, at least in the proposed D 7, you have part of East Dallas together, although we are still stuck to Fair Park, but that almost makes sense ...

How does this software work? It must be incredibly easy to use, but probably hard to do it right. None of these people impress me as an individual that spends much time hunched over a keyboard. That Garcia map looks like a lot of work even it was really off the mark.

 When negotations failed with the City Attorney and the Commission under the threat of judicial action,to restrain councilmembers from directing staff and the commissions at this stage I pledged to excercise every public forum to ensure indepedent, impartial, transparent process without incumbement protection, cherrying and cutting out opponents that you see going one now with Dirty Dwayne , Dictator Donna and  Gangasta Garcia being all over the map. To this end I am asking the ethics advisory committee to investigate Commissioners Donnna,Halstead,  Billy Ratcliff, and Hollis Brasher where there is evidence of violations of their code ethics and responsibility to the citizens and not the citizens council and council members  Please join me Thursday at city hall to let the commission  know  that we have drawn the line to stop corrupt gerrymandering to advance ward politics

Why should Domingo know any better? He's responsible for bringing us our current mess in the first place!

Tell Jim Hello, I can't take my eye off the city redistricting to ensure that UNT and Inland Port are not put in the hands of  well you know who or anyone one else who has interfered with bringing jobs to my neighborhood or who blatantly attempts to silence Pct Chair and Election Judge of my precint #3549 that includes UNT.. 

How does someone on the damn Redistricting Commission submit a redistricting proposal that is so bad that it doesn't even include the whole city?  How does one even get that gig?

Domingo's gerrymandering of the North Oak Cliff neighborhoods, splitting up the Kesslers and Winnetka heights, is disgusting.  I am a Mexican American resident of Oak Cliff and this is embarassing.  I hope this plan goes straight to the garbage can.

Domingo writes his own criteria.  They never manage to coincide with, you know, the law.
