Dallas PD Provides Look at Oak Lawn Armed Robbery Captured by Surveillance Camera

Categories: Crime

Per the Dallas Police Department, the hold-up you see above was captured three nights ago and just two blocks from Unfair Park headquarters, along the 2700 block of Welborn near Oak Lawn and Maple. You know the drill by now: DPD needs help ID'ing the driver of the car seen above and the man who gets out, pulls the pistol and makes off with the victim's bag. A $5,000 reward's being offered; call (214) 373-8477 or the DPD's Robbery Unit at (214) 670-4414 if you have any information.

FYI, his fingerprints should be on that box he grabbed and threw to the ground!

I'm shocked that it was a black guy that did it.  I figured it would be a Jewish guy or maybe an Indian or Japanese fella.  Possibly a Ukrainian woman.  Poor Shutze must be crying in his Whole Foods organic oatmeal right about now racked with White Guilt.

now the vic could have had a CHL and his piece would be in his satchel/haversack/manpurse, he puts his hand in it grasp his piece then as he hands it over he pulls out his piece firing at the perp.

I think the robber missed out on the Section 8 vouchers and wanted a consolation prize.

Live by the gun, die by the gun.  That dude better watch out somebody don't cap his ass instead of handing over the satchel next time.  Punk.

Didn't someone get shot in the head a few months back around the same area?

Walking around at midnight, "satchel" in hand, and 3 blocks from Riverchon.  Hmm.  Never would have predicted a robbery.

This is not a bag, and its not a man purse, it is a satchel.

There's about a 99% chance the guy's not going to shoot you if hand over the bag, but probably a 99% chance that he is going to start shooting if you start shooting at him.  So, are the contents of the bag worth getting killed over?  If not killed, even getting shot is going to cost more in medical bills than the contents of the bag are worth.

This is the difference between a fiscal conservative and social conservative.

Shouldn't that be Reverchon park? Just curious what park you were referring to.

Huh? This isn't anywhere close to Riverchon, if you are insinuating he was out cruising or something. Sheesh - walking home from work or out to eat and it's your fault?

Where do you get your statistics? 99% chance, that's a lot, almost a sure thing.

I'm sure if everyone meekly handed over their possessions to every punk holding his gun sideways, the world would be a much safer place....safer for punk bitches to jack people walking in their own damn neighborhoods. Being prepared to defend yourself is the difference between living......and living in fear.

What do you mean it isn't close to Riverchon??  2700 Welborn?  Maple and Oak Lawn?  Unfair Park HQ?         Anyway, I wasn't saying it was the poor guy's fault.  I'm just sayin'....... at THAT time of night, in THAT neighborhood...... you know.  Not a surprise.

How many of those responsible for the 83 murders were also responsible for the those 2056 robberies? A friend's daughter had a gun held to her head while her boyfriend stood to the side. The guy took all of their possessions, but he went down the street a ways and shot some poor, mentally-ill kid. If her boyfriend had been armed and well-practiced in self-defense shooting, that man would have done no more harm to anyone.

According to the DPD there have been 2056 robberies YTD and 83 murders.  If every single one of those murders was a result of a robbery, the rate of non-murderous robberies would be 96.1%.  Given that most murders are not a result of robbery, we can safely assume than significanly less than 1% of robberies result in murder.  I'd spend more time looking up the rate of shootings in robberies, as opposed to murders, but I have to go to dinner.  You got any statistics that say more than 1% of robberies end in shootings?

"That" neighborhood? You mean the one full of $500K townhomes packed with straight people? Yeah, 20 years ago if you were walking around there late at night, maybe... But now? At 11:50PM? I think the "you know what he was looking for, know what I mean, know what I mean?" is a bit of a stretch.

And it's definitely not what I would consider close to Riverchon. At least by Texas standards! Any self-respecting Texan wouldn't walk that far to get to Riverchon, they would drive.
