Rawlings happily accepts Natinsky's endorsement
Patrick's at the Adolphus Hotel for the noontime showdown between David Kunkle and Mike Rawlings, their first debate since Saturday's elections results sent the two into the June runoff. But before the fireworks, or whatever, Ron Natinsky (who received 17,430 votes on Saturday) pulled the assembled media aside to make it known he "will be actively campaigning to help get him elected" -- him, of course, being Mike Rawlings.

Per Patrick's account, Natinsky said he met with both Kunkle and Rawlings before deciding who to throw in with. "I've spent almost a week making up my mind about this," the outgoing council member said, before deciding that "Mike will help move Dallas forward."

Rawlings, naturally, is happy to get Natinsky's nod.

"If you look at mine and Ron's positions on nearly everything in the city, we are lockstep," Rawlings said. "We are both businessmen, and we both know what business can do in strengthening our city."

Besides, Rawlings said of Natinsky, "I think he's on the right side of most issues." Pause. "All issues." Except for ... well, never mind. And what about ...? Aw, forget it.

Patrick's account from today's debate will appear here later today. He also promises to use a real camera.

At the Adolphus event, Rawlings showed his Boston flip-flopper shoes -

- He voted for the Trinity Toll Road, but now is reviewing his position on it in consultation with City Staff (Hey, is he Mayor already??)

- While he was CEO of Pizza Hut, he could not convince his own board to move their office to Dallas. It landed in Addison, then they fired his butt and moved to Plano a few months ago.

If Mike Rawlings is from New Jersey - carpetbagging - why is telling everyone something else?

Kunkel looks like he is running for student council. Fine police chief, but not a mayor.

The thought of Rawlings as mayor makes me shudder and want to throw up in my mouth a little. He is the epitome of the same old bullshit this city has been shoving down our throats for years.

Natinsky's endorsement of Rawlings is reason enough to vote for Kunkle

Darryl Baker has done a great analysis of the ISD's that serve Dallas resident.  He says at least 30% of Dallas residents live outside DISD boundaries, and at least 30% or more of the DISD boundaries are OUTSIDE Dallas city limits.

Rawlings used his position as Park Board President to get the Katy Trail ad job to his buddy w/o bids, and justified it with the excuse they practically did it for free.  People who are in the business say the signs are confusing and were a waste of  money, cheap or otherwise.  It's not the end result that matters anyway, it's the way Rawlings does business.

Kunkle is already calling for tighter ethics at City Hall, and will clean up the way things are done -- just like he did as Chief of Police.

Rawlings would be just like Leppert, who was just like Kirk, who was just like all the previous Citizens Council puppets who have left this city in so much debt we are looking at 450 more employee layoffs (like code enforcement) after funding all the big ticket projects, none of which have delivered half of what was promised.   Just to break even would be great.

After looking at the photo of Natinsky and Rawlings, now I know why Nat has such a Napoleon complex, he looks like a midget. Given the past recent events he must feel really small!!!!

you have two choices. you may not like them, but they are the two that you have. do you want the guy that did a good job running the police department that does know how some of the city infrastructure works and seems to be a pretty good guy..or do you want the businessman that has a good track record in the corporate world and has done a good job serving dallas as the homeless advocate, or czar and has a history of working on parks projects. I think that kunkle is a good guy and i really like hearing him on the ticket---but i think highly of rawlings in regards to his toughness and his record with financial concerns. the choice is yours. man, if caraway was facing one of these guys the decision would be easy.....but caraway isn't running, thank God.

Ron Natinsky deserved exactly what he got. Of course, he threw his support behind Rawlings, the Dallas Citizen Council told him to, and like a good little boy, he did it.

OH, MY, LOOK!  THEIR IN A GOOD 'OL BOYS FANCY BOARDROOM!

GREAT SIGNAL TO THE PEOPLE.

Geez

Ron 'Leppert Mini Me' Natinsky can't come close to getting into the good 'ol boys club by attaching himself to Leppert, now thinks the establishment will let him enter their private club by endorsing Rawlings.Poor little man. He just doesn't get it. I predict the people will rise up, north and south and elect Kunkle. Those in the south will be emancipated from their Drivers and those in the north will realize Rawlings is just another in a long line trying to blow smoke up you-know-where. If they do not, pity poor Dallas.

Wait. Mike Rawlings is from the East Coast?! That makes sense because of his accent. But he tells everybody he is from Dallas. What's the deal?

I'll ultimately base my decision on how the two candidates address financial issues of the Trinity Park bond allocations. That will tell me if they will be careful stewards of taxpayer's money, which Leppert was not. I would be disappointed if either candidate did not support the release of the city's records.

I suspect that there has been massive fraud and the bond was really an excuse to spread around money to the real estate and construction communities.

We all knew this happened about a month ago when Natinsky knew that he didn't have a snowball chance in hell of making the run-off.  The part I want to see now is Dwaine Caraway endorse Mike.  Dwaine has called Mike every name in the book next to mama's boy, so it will be interesting to see him eat his words. Kunkle is not Mayoral material, not even for Maybank, TX.  Wake up and smell the coffee...

Mike Rawlings is now aligned with status quo / Dwaine Caraway votes. I want change and accountability. Not....this.

"New Jersey Mike" Rawlings is a carpet bagger and is Leppert redux. Can we afford to elect another guy who comes out of nowhere as our mayor? Nope. Can we afford another person to feed the Dallas political machine. Nope.

All of his proposals are farce. Luring more corporations to Dallas? AT&T pays no property tax. And do you think most of their relocated executives live in Dallas or have a stake in DISD? Oh, and you're going to spend 20% of your time on this? Good luck.

Amen!    The last one I would want an endorsment from is Natinsky.

And people that live in North Dallas east of 75 attend Richardson ISD including Lake Highlands and Hamilton Park... What is your point?  I don't think Rawlings will be anything like Leppert.  Leppert broke the mold as a Mayor...  But if Rawlings is like Kirk are you saying that is a bad thing??? I guess you were apart of the 17% that voted against his re-election campaign because the other 83% liked Kirk.  But keeping your same comment and replacing some names I guess the opposite that you are saying is that Kunkle would be just like Laura Miller and that would be a good thing???  I went to the mavs game last night.  Didn't see anyone complaining that bond money paid for the AAC (that happened because of Kirk).  But everyday I hear people complain about the Cowboys.  And that is such a minor issue in my book, but the point is Laura Miller comes in a close second after Leppert for the "Worst Dallas Has to Offer".  And for you to say Rawlings would be like Kirk, then to me that is saying that Kunkle would be like Miller just because the two are in their corners.

'Makes you wonder about that "internal audit". Where are the results? It doesn't take this long for an auditor to determine whether the proper protocol was followed or not. How much will you bet the results of the "audit" will not be available (for some strange reason) until after the runoff is over?

And that is what troubles me about Rollings-the Dallas Citizens Council and Natinsky.

Easy now. They were in the lobby of the Adolphus Hotel right before the Dallas Regional Chamber debate started. Kunkle was at the Adolphus Hotel today too ...

So in the short 3 month campaign that didn't happen and with another 3 weeks until the run-off you think it will all of a sudden???  Politics is not a simple game of checkers...

Kunkle has already come out in support of the release of the bond funds documents held by the City of Dallas while suing the AG in Texas.

Dwaine is a shrewd politician, he himself is staying silent so he can see where the political winds blow and in the mean time he hedges his bets by having Archie endorse Rawlings and Arthur endorse Kunkle

Please do not sully the good name of New Jersey by inferring Mike Rawlings is from there. There is no "east coast accent".  Also the "carpet bagger" thing gets old fast. A good chunk of voters and elected officials weren't born in Texas. But guess what? We live here because we like it.

Just like the audit report for the DISD that was delayed until after the 1.32 Billion Dollar Bond vote.   I recall trustee Flores stating (the audit report):  "Were not criminals were just incompetent!?    Oh yes we just had to have the AA center especially with ReUnion arena still on the books.   We just gota subsidies with tax dollars projects that the private sector would not touch on their own.  Other peoples money (tax payer)

Good point, Oak Cliff Res. Let's just look at the murder rate during his tenure, which shows.... well, I'll be. A reduction! And a significant one, too.

Now, let's look at New Jersey Mike's tenure at Pizza Slut. Mmmmm. Not. Good. Reminds me of Leppert's thin resume as "CEO" at Turner.

How about someone audit that "42% crime reduction" that Kunkle tips his hat to".

From DMN bio:

"He was born in the Panhandle, but his childhood was a series of cities, from grade school in Kansas City to high school in Syracuse, NY , and on to Boston College, where he played linebacker and studied philosophy."

Well, he does have that east coast accent. I understood Mike Rawlings was from New York or Philly, but I don't think he's from New Jersey. But I could be wrong.

Obviously everyone (not you Robert) is getting there information second hand and has never attended a debate.  Rawlings says everytime the he was born in the Panhandle attended Boston College, and after college moved to Dallas in the 70's...

OK, so Mike is basically from the East Coast, which explains Rawling's New York / Boston accent and background.

go with Wilonsky's source/bio on Rawlings. Born here, raised there hence the accent...sort of Chicaaaaahgo meets Baahstun with a dash of Texas. Not there's anything wrong with that, just own up to what your bio is and move on.
