Fort Worth 21-Year-Old Cameron Mitchell to Get His Shot at Getting a Slot on Glee

That young man you see at right is 21-year-old Cameron Mitchell of Fort Worth, the latest local to get his shot at fame courtesy the warm glow of reality television. This afternoon, we received word that Mitchell is among the lucky dozen vying for a shot on Glee next season. But before that, of course, Mitchell must survive the gauntlet known as The Glee Project, an Oxygen reality spin-off that turns the casting process into a competition.

Mitchell was among those who crowded downtown Fort Worth in January, auditioning for his shot at an audition in front of Darren Criss, who plays Blaine on the series, and Glee casting director Robert Ulrich. He's among three from the Fort Worth auditions who made the cut; the others are from Georgia and North Carolina. From his bio:
Cameron is a natural musician who, up until six months ago, had never taken a single music lesson. He's been performing in amateur shows for four years. In high school, Cameron was hated by all the guys but loved by all the girls. He grew up loving the Beatles -- they inspire him and influence him as a musician and a performer.
And if he doesn't make the cut, perhaps Cameron could audition for Centro-matic For the People: The Will Johnson Story. The Glee Project, incidentally, begins airing June 12 at 8 p.m. on Oxygen. No doubt Merritt already has it scheduled on her DVR. And by Merritt, I mean me. Bring it.

Robert, Thanks for the story on Cameron Mitchell. He is a great kid with a lot of talent that will surprise a lot of people in DFW. The greets thing about these reality shows is that people who would never get s chance for their "shot" at the big time without them.

I am looking forward to seeing all these talented kids.

Nothing against this kid, he seems very talented. But, uh, don't we kinda byotch on here EVERY SINGLE DAY, BUT TODAY, about all the reality shows being so faux-reality and discourage their production, and whatnot?

I really just wish "Glee", "Twi-hards", and all of the "reality loafers who do nothing than become richer by having us watch them be, uh, rich," would just disappear from all media, especially print & TV. We need new blood! And I'm not talkin' "True Blood".
